Span America Advantage ReadyWide Under Bed Lighting MC7 TiMOTION, Factory Installed

(0 review)

The Span America Advantage ReadyWide Under Bed Lighting MC7 TiMOTION, Factory Installed (Q6749) is the Savaria under-bed lighting option built into a new Advantage ReadyWide MC7 Standard bed. Savaria prints it as "Under bed lighting, factory installed". Westin Healthcare specifies and supplies Span beds in Brampton and across the GTA.

Before you quote this Do not put this on an Encore MC9: under-bed lighting is standard equipment on that bed and Savaria prints no MC9 lighting code at all. Do not add it to an MC7WMLB-L or MC7WMLB-CL either, which Savaria describes as already shipping with factory under-bed lighting. The field equivalent for a ReadyWide already in service is Q6748. Not the part for a ReadyWide Plus MC7WP on LINAK (that is Q6787, factory only) or an Advantage QD1000 (Q6751, factory only). Savaria publishes no lumen, wattage or LED figure.

Description

The Span America Advantage ReadyWide Under Bed Lighting MC7 TiMOTION, Factory Installed (manufacturer code Q6749) is the Savaria Patient Care under-bed lighting option for the Span Advantage ReadyWide MC7 bed. On the MC7 the lighting is a kit, not standard equipment: Span's owner manual labels the pendant button "Underbed Light (optional)" and heads the operating section "UNDERBED LIGHT (LIGHT KIT OPTIONAL)". Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.

This is the factory code. It goes on a new Advantage ReadyWide MC7 order and the bed arrives with the lighting fitted and tested. To add lighting to a ReadyWide that is already in a room, order the field version instead, Q6748.

Check this before you order: your bed may already have it

This is the one product in the Span range where the same feature is standard on one bed and optional on another, and it is worth two minutes before a purchase order goes out.

  • Encore MC9: already fitted. Under-bed lighting is standard equipment on the Encore. Span's Encore brochure lists "dual-position, dual intensity under-bed lighting" among the bed's features rather than its options, the Encore owner manual prints the pendant light button with no optional qualifier, and Savaria prints no under-bed lighting code for the MC9 anywhere in its 2026 range. Do not add a lighting code to an Encore.
  • Advantage ReadyWide MC7: optional. This is the platform this code belongs to. Span's ReadyWide brochure lists under-bed lighting under "Customize with", and the ReadyWide owner manual marks the pendant and foot end controller buttons "(optional)" and the operating section "(LIGHT KIT OPTIONAL)".
  • Two ReadyWide builds already include it. Savaria describes the MC7WMLB-L, which is the MC7WML with mobility, floor lock, foot end controls, boxed delivery and factory under-bed lighting, and the MC7WMLB-CL, which adds a factory USB charger as well. If you are ordering either of those, the lighting is in the bed and you do not add a lighting code on top.

The quickest check on a bed already in a room: look at the hand pendant. If there is a light button on it and pressing it turns lights on under the bed, the kit is fitted. If you are ordering a new bed, tell us the build code and we will make sure the lighting appears exactly once on the quote.

Which code is yours

Savaria supplies a different under-bed lighting code for each bed platform and control system, and the codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6749.

Bed platform and control systemField installFactory install
Advantage ReadyWide MC7, Standard builds on TiMOTION controlsQ6748Q6749
Advantage ReadyWide Plus MC7WP, on LINAK controlsNot publishedQ6787
Advantage QD1000Not publishedQ6751
Encore MC9No code. Under-bed lighting is standard on this bed.

Worth reading that table twice, because a brochure will not tell you this. The SPAN ReadyWide brochure prints both the Standard and the Plus lighting codes in the same list without saying which is which, so the only reliable way to pick is by the bed's control system. The Standard builds, MC7W, MC7WM, MC7WL and MC7WML, run TiMOTION controls and take this code. The ReadyWide Plus MC7WPML runs LINAK controls and takes the LINAK parts instead, in the same way it takes its own battery backup rather than the Q6700 and Q6701 pair that the Standard builds use.

Note as well that Savaria publishes factory codes only for the Plus and the QD1000. If you need to retrofit lighting to either of those, call us before assuming it can be done, and we will confirm the current option with Savaria rather than substitute the Standard code.

If you do not know which control system your bed has, do not guess. Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify it before anything is ordered. The Standard ReadyWide range includes builds such as the MC7WM with mobility and the MC7WL with floor lock, and it sits alongside the Span Weigh Scale bed, the Span Advantage Q-Series and the Span Rexx.

What the lighting does on the bed

Two things, and the second one is the reason it is worth having on a low bed.

  • Night orientation. The lights are switched from the hand pendant and from the foot end staff controller, and the brightness is adjustable: Span's instruction is "to turn on, press button. To adjust brightness, press button. To turn off, press button."
  • SmartStop warning. These beds pause on the way down. To take the bed from 12-1/2 inches to its lowest 7-7/8 inch position, the caregiver has to press the Bed Hi/Low Down button on the foot end controller, and as the bed lowers the SmartStop Low Height Zone Indicator illuminates and, in Span's words, "if installed, underbed lights will flash" as a warning to the operator to check that the area under the bed is clear of any body parts or foreign objects. Without the kit that warning is the indicator alone. With it, the floor under the bed is lit at exactly the moment somebody needs to look at it.

The lights also flash to confirm a successful bed reset, if they are installed.

Span under bed lighting specifications

Savaria publishes the code, the platform and the behaviour. It does not publish an LED count, a lumen figure, a colour temperature, a wattage or a mounting position for this kit, and we will not invent one. The figures below are what Span states.

Warranty1 year, Span bed accessories

One thing worth keeping in mind on every Span accessory. Span states in the Advantage ReadyWide owner manual that the safe working load includes the weight of accessories, options and bedding, not just the person in the bed. The ReadyWide MC7 Standard is rated at 500 lb (227 kg) safe working load with a maximum patient weight of 350 lb (159 kg), and the ReadyWide Plus is rated at 650 lb (295 kg). Every option you add uses part of that allowance, so it is worth totalling the build rather than adding parts one at a time.

Ordering in Brampton and the GTA

This is the factory code, so there is nothing to fit on site. It is a line on the bed order and it arrives built in and tested. Westin Healthcare's own team delivers and sets up Span beds across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area: we bring the bed in, assemble it in the room, test every function and show you the hand pendant and the foot end controller before we leave. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. Orders travel by standard parcel or freight depending on the equipment, and White Glove Delivery is available for eligible products in Toronto and the GTA, as set out on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page to get the build sheet right the first time.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on a Span bed or one of its accessories needs work, you call the shop that supplied it. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department and our own technicians come to the home or the workplace across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Span manufacturer warranty

Span Medical Products Canada warrants all beds and bed accessories sold by Span to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use and service from the date of initial delivery. Bed accessories carry one year and parts subject to wear carry one year, which is the row this part sits in. Electrical components, meaning the control box and all actuators, carry five years. The frame carries fifteen years and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty, and the warranty does not apply where a product has been abused, misused, improperly maintained, exposed to excessive loads, or altered without Span's approval. Span also states plainly that using replacement parts or accessories from other manufacturers will invalidate the warranty and could damage the bed, so a generic substitute is a false economy on a Span bed. We handle the claim with you.

The Span accessories we already stock by their Savaria codes include the Q6699 ergonomic transport dolly set and the Q6729 universal foot end equipment bar. If you arrived here for a different manufacturer's bed, the equivalent we stock is the Joerns SafeLight underbed light. Span and Joerns parts do not cross over, so match the part to the bed rather than to the feature.

Frequently asked questions

What is the manufacturer code?

Q6749. Savaria prints the factory under-bed lighting code in the SPAN ReadyWide brochure item code table, in the ReadyWide product codes table and in the Span long term care beds catalogue, and lists both install modes for the Standard TiMOTION build in its 2026 range.

Does my Encore MC9 need this?

No. Under-bed lighting is standard on the Encore. Span's Encore brochure lists it among the bed's features rather than its options, the Encore owner manual prints the pendant light button with no optional qualifier, and Savaria prints no under-bed lighting code for the MC9 at all. This code is for the Advantage ReadyWide MC7.

How do I tell whether a ReadyWide already has it?

Look at the hand pendant for a light button and press it. If lights come on under the bed, the kit is fitted. On a new order, check the build code: Savaria describes the MC7WMLB-L and MC7WMLB-CL builds as including factory under-bed lighting.

My bed is a ReadyWide Plus. Is this the right code?

No. The ReadyWide Plus MC7WP runs LINAK controls and takes Q6787, which Savaria publishes as a factory install only. We will not substitute the Standard TiMOTION code for it. Call us and we will confirm the current option with Savaria first.

Should I order the field kit or the factory kit?

Factory, this code, if the bed has not been built yet. Field, Q6748, if the ReadyWide is already in a room. Savaria lists the option both ways for the Standard TiMOTION build, so the only question is whether the bed exists.

How bright is it, and what colour?

Span does not publish a lumen figure, a colour temperature or an LED count, so we do not quote one. What Span does state is that the brightness is adjustable from the same button that switches the lights on. If the optical specification matters for your facility's policy, tell us and we will ask Savaria in writing.

Do the lights do anything besides light the floor?

Yes. Span ties them to SmartStop. As the bed is lowered from 12-1/2 inches to its lowest position, the SmartStop Low Height Zone Indicator illuminates and the underbed lights flash as a warning to check that the area under the bed is clear. They also flash to confirm a successful bed reset.

How do I know whether my bed is TiMOTION or LINAK?

The bed and control box labels identify it. If you cannot find them, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number and we will check. Savaria splits several bed options by control system, including the battery backup and this lighting, so it is the one check worth making before anything is ordered.

What is the warranty?

One year. Span bed accessories carry one year in the manufacturer's warranty table, and so do cables. The five year electrical row covers the control box and the actuators, not accessory kits. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty.
