Description
The Savaria Universal Foot End Equipment Bar (manufacturer code Q6729) is a bar that mounts across the foot end of a Span bed to carry equipment. Savaria names it the universal foot end equipment bar and lists it for all bed models. Span's Encore brochure prints the code as the foot end equipment bar in the Encore accessory table. Westin Healthcare supplies and fits Span bed parts in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
The foot end of a bed is the part of the room where equipment tends to pile up on the floor. A bar gives it somewhere to go that moves with the bed rather than against it.
Which beds this fits
Two manufacturer statements sit side by side here, and you should have both.
- Savaria's own product description calls this the universal foot end equipment bar and states it is for all bed models. Savaria uses that wording for very few of its bed accessory codes. Most of them are restricted by model, and Savaria writes those restrictions out plainly, so the absence of one here is deliberate.
- Span's brochures print Q6729 in the Encore item-code table and on the Span Encore product page. The code is not printed in the ReadyWide item-code table, the long term care catalogue's ReadyWide table, or the Rexx brochure.
So if you have an Encore MC9, this is documented on both sides and you can order it with confidence. If you have an Advantage ReadyWide MC7, an Advantage QD1000, a Rexx, or a Weigh Scale MC7WSML, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and we will confirm the mount with Savaria before anything ships. That is a two-minute call and it is better than a bar that does not clamp.
One thing this is not: it is not a universal fit for any manufacturer's bed. Savaria is describing its own range. A Span bar is not a Drive, Invacare, or Joerns part, and Span states that parts from other manufacturers must not be fitted to its beds.
Savaria foot end equipment bar specifications
Savaria publishes the code, the name, the position, and the fit statement, and does not publish a load rating, a length, a diameter, or a material for this bar. Rather than fill those rows with numbers from somewhere else, this table carries what is confirmed.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer code | Q6729 |
| Type | Foot end equipment bar |
| Position | Foot end of the bed |
| Savaria fit statement | All bed models |
| Printed in Span brochures for | Encore MC9 |
| Power | None. It is a passive bar. |
| Warranty | 1 year |
If a load rating, a length, or a clamp dimension decides the order for you, call us and we will get it from Savaria before you commit. That is a common question on this part and we would rather answer it properly than guess.
Loading the bar safely
Span does not publish a rating for the bar itself, but it is very clear about the bed, and that is the number that governs the room. Both the Encore and the ReadyWide manuals state that the bed's safe working load is a total weight that includes the patient, the accessories, the options, and the bedding, and warn that exceeding it could result in bed instability.
| Bed | Safe working load | Maximum patient weight |
|---|---|---|
| Encore MC9 | 600 lb (272 kg) | 450 lb (204 kg) |
| ReadyWide MC7 Standard | 500 lb (227 kg) | 350 lb (159 kg) |
| ReadyWide MC7 Plus | 650 lb (295 kg) | Ask us |
Anything you hang on an equipment bar counts inside those figures. On a bed already carrying an air surface, a trapeze, rails, and boards, that is worth adding up before you load the foot end as well.
Check the bar's fasteners at the regular service interval. Span asks that bed maintenance items be reviewed every 6 to 12 months depending on how hard the bed is used, and that all fasteners be tightened and seated within the specified torque limits.
Cleaning
Clean it the way Span asks you to clean the bed. A damp cloth or sponge with warm water and a mild detergent, or a diluted neutral disinfectant, taking care not to use excessive water around the control panels and the control box. Do not use solvents, alcohol, or petroleum products on the surface, and do not put bed parts through a high pressure wash tunnel.
Delivery and installation in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and fits Span bed parts across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a part first. To book a technician visit, call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page.
This is a long, light carton. If it ships on its own, the Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods may apply depending on the carton size, and we confirm that on your order. If it travels with a bed, the bed is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the bed or an accessory needs work, you call the shop that supplied it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department and our technicians come to the home or the workplace.
Span manufacturer warranty
Span Medical Products Canada warrants beds and bed accessories against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use from the date of initial delivery. Bed accessories carry one year, and that is the row this bar sits in. Parts subject to wear carry one year. Electrical components, meaning the control box and the actuators, carry five years. The frame and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. The manufacturer warranty does not cover labour for service, and fitting parts from other manufacturers to a Span bed invalidates it. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What is the manufacturer code?
Q6729. Savaria lists it as the universal foot end equipment bar for all bed models, and Span's Encore brochure prints it as the foot end equipment bar.
Does it really fit every Span bed?
Savaria says all bed models, and that is Savaria's own wording for this code. Span's brochures print it against the Encore. If you have an Encore, order with confidence. If you have a ReadyWide, Rexx, Advantage, or Weigh Scale bed, call us and we will confirm the mount with Savaria first.
Will it fit a Drive or Invacare bed?
No. Savaria is describing its own bed range. Span also states that parts from other manufacturers must not be fitted to its beds, and the reverse applies here too.
How much weight will it hold?
Savaria does not publish a load rating for the bar, so we do not quote one. What is published is the bed's safe working load, which is a total including the patient, accessories, options, and bedding: 600 lb on the Encore MC9 and 500 lb on the Standard ReadyWide MC7. Anything on the bar counts inside that. If a rating decides your order, call us and we will get it from Savaria.
What is it designed to hold?
Savaria calls it an equipment bar and does not publish a list of devices, so we will not either. Tell us what you are planning to mount and we will check it with Savaria before you order.
Is it the same as an IV pole?
No. Savaria supplies IV poles as separate codes, and we list IV poles in their own category. This is a bar at the foot end of the bed.
Can it be fitted to a bed we already have?
Savaria does not publish a field or factory split for this code the way it does for the battery and lighting options. Call (905) 451-7743 with the bed model and serial number and we will confirm with Savaria, and book a technician if it needs one.
What is the warranty?
One year, the Span bed accessory term. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty. Our service department handles the claim with you.
