You will meet people on the worst week of their year.
Somebody has had a stroke. Somebody is coming home from hospital and the family is frightened. Somebody has finally admitted they cannot manage the stairs. That is when we arrive, and how we behave in that hour matters as much as whether the equipment is installed correctly.
The technical work is real and it needs doing properly. But the part that decides whether someone is good at this job is whether they can be calm, unhurried and straight with a family who are none of those things at that moment. We can teach the rest.
Real work with your hands
Rail installation, electrical connection, assembly, servicing and diagnostics. Nothing about this job is theoretical.
Somebody's house, not a site
Boots off, dust sheets down, and a family watching. It is a different discipline to construction work.
You run the visit
Technicians and consultants work alone most of the day. We expect judgement, not radio calls for every decision.
You go back
Servicing means you see the same customers over years. The work you did last year is work you will see again.

Installation technician
Core roleStairlifts, ceiling lifts, platform lifts, ramps and grab bars. Mechanical and electrical work in occupied homes, to a schedule.
Delivery and setup driver
On the roadBeds, lifts, wheelchairs and scooters delivered, assembled in the room and demonstrated to the family.
Mobility consultant
AssessmentsFree home assessments, measurement, product recommendation and written quotes, plus the funding conversation.
Order desk
Brampton officeQuotes, funding paperwork, scheduling and the phone. The role that holds everything else together.
Four things, and only one of them is technical.
We can teach somebody to install a stairlift. We cannot teach somebody to be patient with a frightened eighty-year-old, or to notice that the daughter in the kitchen has a question she is too embarrassed to ask.
If you have a trade background, mechanical aptitude or homecare experience, that helps and we would like to hear from you. If you do not but you are good with people and willing to learn the practical side properly, we would still like to hear from you.

Manufacturer training on the equipment we install, including Handicare, Savaria and Access BDD systems. Paid, and during work hours.

Local work
Greater Toronto Area routes. You go home at night, which is not true of every installation job.
Work that is visible
You will hand somebody back the upstairs of their own house. It is not a small thing and it does not get old.

Are you hiring right now?

Do I need a trade background?
For an installation technician role it helps considerably, and manufacturer certification we can provide. For delivery and setup, mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn matter more than a formal ticket. For consultant and order desk roles, no trade background is needed.
What area would I be working in?
The Greater Toronto Area, based out of Brampton. Technicians and drivers cover routes from Burlington and Oakville in the west to Pickering and Oshawa in the east and north to Newmarket. You are home at night.
Is the work physical?
Yes. Hospital beds are heavy and arrive in sections, stairlift rails are awkward, and much of the work happens in narrow hallways and on staircases. It is manageable, and it is genuinely physical.
Do you provide training?
Yes, including manufacturer training on the stairlift, ceiling lift and platform lift systems we install. It is paid and it happens during work hours, because equipment installed by someone half-trained is a liability to everybody.
What is the hardest part of the job?
The homes where the situation is deteriorating and everyone knows it. Being in somebody's house on that day, doing practical work calmly while a family absorbs bad news, is harder than any of the technical parts. It is also the part that matters most.
