Canadian owned and operated since 2012 Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton, Ontario
Delivered to Vaughan. Installed at home.

64,995 Vaughan houses are detached. The first hospital in this city opened in 2021.

Westin Healthcare serves Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg, Thornhill and the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre with delivery, installation, service and repairs, and free in-home assessments.

Vaughan is a lower-tier city in York Region. Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, at 3200 Major Mackenzie Drive West, is the first hospital built here. It fully opened on 6 June 2021. Most of the housing is still a single-detached house. The new downtown is the VMC. York Region runs Ontario Works. The City of Vaughan does not run an equipment hardship desk.

How we actually serve this city

Delivery, installation and service across Vaughan.

Westin Healthcare serves Vaughan and the surrounding York Region communities with delivery, installation, service and repairs, and free in-home assessments, from Woodbridge and Maple to Kleinburg, Thornhill and the VMC. Our team confirms access, delivery and installation details for the home.

Call 905 451-7743 to plan a delivery, or book a free in-home assessment and we bring the equipment options to the house. To try a chair or a lift in person, visit the Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday, 10am to 2pm.

The access reality

The VMC is a new downtown. Most of Vaughan is still a house with a stair.

City of Vaughan Economic Development, citing the 2021 Census, counts 64,995 single-detached dwellings, about 64 percent of the stock. Apartment buildings with five or more storeys hold 13,750 dwellings, 13 percent, up 40 percent from 2016. Toronto, Vaughan and Markham had the highest share of new condominium development in the Toronto CMA since 2016.

The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is the city's planned downtown. By the second quarter of 2024 the City expected 12,925 residents in 6,528 units there, with thousands more under construction or approved. That is the honest place to talk about booking an elevator and a loading dock for a homecare bed. Building rules belong to each condo or landlord. We confirm them at the assessment.

Woodbridge, Maple and Kleinburg are named village cores inside this city. Two-storey houses in those cores create indoor-stair demand and front-step demand. We measure the actual flight and the actual porch. We do not invent a typical stair width for Vaughan. Thornhill straddles Vaughan and Markham. We do not write it as a Vaughan-only neighbourhood.

Hospital and City Hall Maple

2141 Major Mackenzie Drive West is City Hall. 3200 Major Mackenzie is Cortellucci Vaughan. York Region Maple Health Centre sits at 10424 Keele Street. Chartwell Valley Vista is near Dufferin and Major Mackenzie.

Village core, Highway 27 Kleinburg

Villa Colombo Seniors Centre (Vaughan) is at 10443 Highway 27. Older village lots are the honest place to talk about a raised entry. We look at the actual steps.

Planned downtown Vaughan Metropolitan Centre

The condo downtown. A homecare bed here is an elevator-booking problem first. Confirm the property's loading rules with the board or property manager.

Which product follows

A Woodbridge stair, a Maple porch, and a bed into a VMC elevator.

Pick the closest match. This is a starting point, not a quote. We still measure the stair, the porch and the elevator booking.

Where in Vaughan is the home?

What we bring into this city

The detached majority asks for a rail. The new downtown asks for a booked elevator.

About two thirds of Vaughan dwellings are still a house. That is indoor stairs and a front step. The 40 percent jump in five-plus-storey apartments, and the VMC, are why families also call about a bed that has to fit a condo elevator. A discharge from 3200 Major Mackenzie often needs both conversations at once.

Detached majority

A rail for the 64,995 detached houses

Most of this city's dwellings are single-detached. Interior stairs follow from that type. A straight rail fits a straight run. A turning stair needs a curved rail. We measure. We do not invent a typical Vaughan stair width. ADP will not pay for the rail. March of Dimes HVMP may be a route when its eligibility and authorization rules fit.

Straight stairlifts
Village entry

A platform lift on a Woodbridge or Kleinburg step

A raised entry on a Woodbridge or Kleinburg lot is a few steps, not a farm-length grade. A vertical platform lift is the usual answer when a short ramp will not fit the landing. It is not an ADP item.

Porch lifts
Short rise

A short ramp when the landing allows it

A short modular ramp can fit a Vaughan porch when the grade and the landing allow it. We quote from a measure, not from a photograph. ADP does not cover ramps.

Ramps
After Cortellucci, or into the VMC

A bed after Cortellucci, or into the VMC

A stay at Cortellucci Vaughan, or a condo at the VMC, is why families call about a homecare bed. ADP does not fund beds. Renting is the usual short stay answer. We quote. We do not list a price and we do not promise a same-week window.

Hospital beds
ADP in this city

ADP still means the same three things on Major Mackenzie

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program is provincial. In Vaughan it still covers only eligible manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, wheelchair seating and wheeled walkers, at up to 75 percent of the approved amount, or 100 percent if the person is on OW, ODSP or ACSD. It does not cover bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts.

An approved scooter can go through ADP. A folding power chair is a different product and a different funding conversation. We assess the home, including doorway clearances we have not measured city-wide, then quote.

Landmarks of care in Vaughan

Stroke rehab is at Cortellucci Vaughan. General high-intensity rehab is not.

These references help families plan; contact the facility directly for its own services. The names matter because this is where a Vaughan hospital bed or wheelchair actually starts: a planner at Cortellucci Vaughan, an OT on the Integrated Stroke Unit, a social worker arranging a return to Maple, Woodbridge or Kleinburg.

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is at 3200 Major Mackenzie Drive West, Vaughan, ON L6A 4Z3, switchboard 905 417-2000. Mackenzie Health built it as the first hospital in the City of Vaughan, and as the first net-new hospital in Ontario in more than 30 years. It sits at the northwest corner of Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, just north of Canada's Wonderland.

7 February 2021 Soft opening ICU and medicine only. Vaughan still had no full hospital floor before this date.
6 June 2021 Full opening Full-service emergency department. Woman and Child, Inpatient Mental Health, Inpatient Stroke, surgery, medicine, critical care.
Two-site model Mackenzie Health This building works with Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. That second site is in Richmond Hill, not here.

The hospital at Jane and Major Mackenzie

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, 3200 Major Mackenzie Drive West. The only acute-care hospital inside Vaughan city limits on the official Mackenzie Health site. There is no second Vaughan hospital to list. Contact the hospital directly about its own services.

Integrated Stroke Unit

Located at Cortellucci Vaughan. Acute stroke care plus high-intensity stroke rehabilitation on one site. Mackenzie Health names the Sorbara District Stroke Centre for York Region on that page. This is the stroke program that sits in Vaughan.

High-intensity rehab that is not stroke

That program is at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, 10 Trench Street, Richmond Hill. Do not plan a general orthopedic or medical rehab stay as if it happens at 3200 Major Mackenzie. Vaughan families may be sent there. That is a Richmond Hill fact.

York Region Maple Health Centre

The other is in Newmarket, not in this city. Ontario Health atHome, Central, 1-888-470-2222, handles long-term care placement for this area.

Villa Colombo Seniors Centre (Vaughan)

10443 Highway 27, Kleinburg, Vaughan, ON L0J 1C0. 160 licensed beds. Not-for-profit. Licensee: Villa Colombo Seniors Centre (Vaughan) Inc. We name it because families already know it; contact the home directly for its own services.

Villa Leonardo Gambin

40 Friuli Court, Woodbridge, Ontario L4L 9T3. 168 licensed beds. Not-for-profit. Licensee: Friuli Long Term Care. A Woodbridge campus, not a Maple one.

Chartwell Valley Vista

600 Valley Vista Drive, Vaughan, Ontario L6A 4H2. Independent living. The operator places it near Dufferin Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, in the Maple side of the city.

Aspira Villa Da Vinci Retirement Living

7371 Martin Grove Road, Woodbridge / Vaughan. Phone 905 264-9119. Current operator brand is Aspira (Sienna). Older listings still say Amica. Use the current name if you are calling the building.

Mackenzie Health Long-Term Care at 10 Trench Street is in Richmond Hill. Do not list it as a Vaughan home. This list is not a complete inventory. Household programs on this page are for people going home, not for people already in long-term care.

Funding in this city

York Region runs Ontario Works here. The City of Vaughan does not keep an equipment hardship desk.

The service manager is the Regional Municipality of York. Access York is 1-877-464-9675. Apply for Ontario Works at 1-888-999-1142. A Vaughan address is not a Toronto address. A Vaughan resident is not eligible for the City of Toronto Hardship Fund and must never be told to call 416-338-8888. Peel ODSP discretionary benefits and Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance stop at other regional borders.

If you live in Vaughan and are not on OW or ODSP

There is no City of Vaughan equipment grant to apply to

No municipal equipment hardship program was found for people who are not on social assistance. The path is the shared provincial and federal list: ADP for eligible manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, wheelchair seating and wheeled walkers; March of Dimes Home and Vehicle Modification Program; WSIB, Veterans Affairs, IFHP and NIHB when those programs apply; Easter Seals, Muscular Dystrophy Canada and The War Amps when you are a registered client; tax credits; private insurance.

Full funding index

If you already have a York OW or ODSP file

Ask the York Region caseworker about discretionary benefits

York's public page names dental, vision, special diet and breast-pump support. There is no public equipment schedule for beds, lifts or stairlifts. Westin does not decide eligibility. Confirm with the caseworker before you buy.

ADP itself is provincial. It is not a Vaughan program. It funds eligible manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, wheelchair seating and wheeled walkers. It does not fund bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts. Dressing ADP as a local talking point is how the old city pages failed.

Not this city

Do not use these numbers from a Vaughan address

416-338-8888 is Toronto Employment and Social Services. It is not a Vaughan line. Halton 311 is for Burlington, Oakville and Milton. Peel 905-793-9200 is for Peel. Vaughan sits in York Region. Start with Access York, or with the shared list above.

Questions that only make sense here

Cortellucci, the VMC, and a 416 number that is not yours.

If a question would still read as true after you swap the city name, it is not on this list.

Vaughan had no hospital until 2021. After a stay at Cortellucci Vaughan, can you set up the house?

The hospital is at 3200 Major Mackenzie Drive West. It fully opened on 6 June 2021. Westin delivers to and installs in the Vaughan home after a stay there. To try a chair or a lift in person, visit the Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, or book a free in-home assessment and we bring the options to the house.

Does the City of Vaughan keep an equipment hardship desk, or do I talk to York Region?

The City of Vaughan does not run a municipal equipment hardship program. If you are on OW or ODSP, the local path is York Region Ontario Works discretionary benefits, through the caseworker. York's public page names dental, vision, special diet and breast-pump support, and it does not publish an equipment schedule. Everyone else uses ADP, March of Dimes HVMP, the other provincial and federal programs, tax credits or insurance. Do not call 416-338-8888 from a Vaughan address.

If the stay is for a stroke, is rehab at 3200 Major Mackenzie or at 10 Trench Street?

Stroke rehab is at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, 3200 Major Mackenzie Drive West. The Integrated Stroke Unit and the Sorbara District Stroke Centre for York Region sit in that building. High-intensity rehab that is not stroke sits at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, 10 Trench Street, in Richmond Hill. Do not plan those two programs as if they occupy the same floor.

Does ADP pay for a stairlift on a two-storey Woodbridge flight?

No. ADP is provincial and the list does not change at Highway 7 or at Highway 27. It covers eligible manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, wheelchair seating and wheeled walkers. It does not cover bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts. A Woodbridge two-storey house does not create an exception. March of Dimes HVMP may be a route for a home modification of this kind when its eligibility and authorization rules fit.

Can you take a homecare bed into a condo at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre?

Yes. We deliver to and install in VMC buildings. Elevator bookings, loading docks and corridor rules belong to the condo or landlord, not to the City. We confirm them at the assessment.

Do you deliver and install in Vaughan?

Yes. Westin Healthcare serves Vaughan and the surrounding York Region communities with delivery, installation, service and repairs, and free in-home assessments. Our team confirms access, delivery and installation details for the home.

Can a Vaughan household use the Toronto Hardship Fund?

No. A Vaughan resident is not eligible for the City of Toronto Hardship Fund. 416-338-8888 is Toronto Employment and Social Services. Vaughan is in York Region. The local conversation, if you are on social assistance, is York Region Ontario Works. If you are not, use the shared provincial and federal list.

Is Thornhill inside Vaughan only?

No. Thornhill straddles Vaughan and Markham. We do not write it as a Vaughan-only neighbourhood, and we do not send a Thornhill household to a Markham-only story or a Vaughan-only story without asking which side of the line the house sits on.
