Wheelchair ramps include portable folding ramps, threshold ramps for doorways, modular aluminum ramps, semi-permanent wooden ramps, and permanent concrete ramps. Selection depends on height needed, frequency of use, and whether permanent installation is possible.
How long should a wheelchair ramp be?

The recommended slope for wheelchair ramps is 1:12 (one inch of rise per foot of ramp length). For a 24-inch rise, you need a 24-foot ramp. Steeper slopes may work for assisted use but are difficult for independent wheelchair users.
Are wheelchair ramps covered by ADP?

What is a threshold ramp?

A threshold ramp is a small, portable ramp designed to bridge raised doorway thresholds (typically 1-3 inches). They're lightweight, easy to install, and help wheelchairs and walkers move smoothly over door thresholds without tripping hazards.
Can portable ramps be used on stairs?

Single-fold or multi-fold portable ramps can bridge short stair entries (1-3 steps). For longer staircases, you need either multiple ramp sections creating a longer run with landings, or a stairlift/porch lift. Ramps over stairs must meet proper slope ratios.
