Joystick control, and quicker than either Savaria lift
Access BDD

Access HomeGlide
straight stairlift

One joystick on the armrest is the entire control. Push it the way you want to go, let go and it stops. Nothing else to learn, and it travels faster than either Savaria lift we carry.

Certified to CSA B355:2024 and ASME A18.1-2023. Installed across Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto and the GTA.

The only real decision

Three packages. Same lift underneath.

The HomeGlide is not sold as a base model with a long options list. It comes as one of three packages, and every one carries the same capacity, the same joystick, and the same safety equipment. What changes is how much of the work the chair does for you, and whether it is built to sit outside.

What you actually touch

Specifications matter less than the four things you use every day. Here they are close up.

Soft-grip joystick One integrated control with a soft-touch grip. Push it the way you want to travel; minimal effort, nothing to interpret.
One-hand seatbelt Retractable, easily reached, with a stainless steel buckle you can work one-handed. A sensor confirms it is fastened before the lift will move.
Warm gray upholstery Generous padding on an ergonomic molded seat. The upholstery is fire retardant, liquid repellent and easy to wipe clean.
Wall-mounted remotes Handsets at the top and bottom of the stairs call the lift or send it to park, so it is always waiting where you need it.

Narrow stairs

From 29 inches wide, folding to 15.

Access BDD fits the HomeGlide to almost any straight staircase, down to 29 inches across. The rail mounts to your stair treads rather than the wall, so installation is quick and there is no structural work.

Folded, it takes 15 inches at either landing. That is the number to weigh when someone else in the house still uses the stairs several times a day.

Capacity depends on your staircase, not just the lift

Access publishes three figures for the HomeGlide, and which one applies to you is decided by the angle of your stairs. This is the single most common thing people get wrong when comparing stairlifts online.

350 lb
160 kg
On stairs up to 45°

The headline figure, and the one that applies to most staircases we measure in the GTA.

320 lb
145 kg
With the folding rail

If a door sits at the bottom of your stairs and you add the folding rail, this is your rating.

300 lb
136 kg
On stairs up to 53°

Steeper staircases carry less. Older homes across the GTA often fall in this range, so we measure before quoting.

Measured drawings

Will it fit your staircase?

Access BDD's dimensioned drawings, in inches. The figures that usually matter: 26 inches across the arms, 23 inches deep with the seat and footrest out, and folded, 13½ inches to the chair with 15 inches to the outermost point.

Access HomeGlide dimensioned drawings: front view 26 inches across the arms and 19 inches at the seat, side view 38 inches tall and 23 inches deep with a 19 inch seat height and 4 and a half inch footrest height, and folded view at 13 and a half to 15 inches deep

Certified for Canada

Not every stairlift sold online carries current Canadian certification. This one does, and we will show you the paperwork.

ASME A18.1-2023 CSA B355:2024 EN 81-40:2020 Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

Safety, fitted as standard

  • Armrest detection, so the lift will not run with an arm out of place
  • One-hand seatbelt with detection, which the lift checks before moving
  • Emergency stop button on the armrest
  • Automatic stop and a retractable seatbelt

Choose the HomeGlide if

  • Simple controls matter more than a long options list
  • The staircase is shallow - it starts at 28°, lower than the rest of our range
  • You want the same lift indoors and out
  • A faster ride on a long staircase appeals
The Extra package

Four upgrades, each removing a movement.

Extra is not a trim level with nicer fabric. Every one of the four additions exists to take a specific physical demand out of using the lift. If bending, twisting or reaching is the difficult part of your day, this is the package to look at.

1

Powered swivel seat

Hold the joystick at the top landing and the chair turns itself towards the landing, so you step off facing safe floor rather than the staircase.

2

Powered linked footrest

The footrest is connected to the seat, so unfolding the chair is almost effortless. Nobody bends to floor level to drop a footrest.

3

Four seat heights

The Extra package lets you choose from four seat heights, so the seat is set to the person rather than to an average.

4

Keylock

Isolates the lift to specific people. It matters when grandchildren visit, or where the staircase is shared.

What a HomeGlide costs, and who helps pay

Because the HomeGlide is sold as packages rather than a long options list, the quote is unusually simple: staircase length, which package, and whether you add the folding rail.
