Canadian owned and operated since 2012 Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton, Ontario
Served from Brampton. Not a Pickering store.

There is no hospital in Pickering. The house we set up is still here.

Westin Healthcare delivers to and installs in Pickering. There is no Westin store, showroom or staff desk in this city.

Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre at 1690 Dersan Street is day surgery and outpatient care. Emergency and inpatient care is at Ajax Pickering Hospital, 580 Harwood Avenue South, in Ajax. Durham Region is the Ontario Works service manager. There is no municipal hardship fund here.

How we actually serve this city

We deliver to Pickering from Brampton. The shop on McPherson Court is not ours.

We come from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton, ON L7A 1B7. The road distance to One The Esplanade, the civic address, is about 72 km. The same method puts Orchard Villa at about 73 km and Jerry Coughlan at about 75 km. Those are map facts, not a delivery window. We do not publish a delivery time or a service radius.

Call the Brampton order desk on 905 451-7743. The showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday 10am to 2pm, if you want to sit in a chair or try a lift before it goes into a Pickering home. There is a second Westin shop in Etobicoke. On the map that shop is closer, about 48 km to the civic centre. It is not a Durham depot, and we do not invent which truck leaves for a Pickering install.

Pickering is Durham's western door. It borders the City of Toronto, the City of Markham, Rouge National Urban Park, Lake Ontario and, to the east, the Town of Ajax. A crew still crosses the GTA on Highway 401. That is why the work starts with a booked assessment, not with a walk-in on The Esplanade.

One branded mobility shop already sits inside this city: 101 Mobility Eastern GTA at 1730 McPherson Court, units 31 and 32. Silver Cross Durham is at 850 King Street West, Unit 9, in Oshawa. They are not Westin. You can walk into those floors. You cannot walk into a Westin floor in Pickering. We still deliver to and install in Pickering.

The two doors out of care

Day surgery is on Dersan Street. Emergency care is across the Ajax line.

Pickering has no emergency department and no inpatient hospital. Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre is Lakeridge Health's surgical and outpatient campus at 1690 Dersan Street in north Pickering. It is not an ER and it is not a ward you stay overnight in.

A same-day orthopaedic or endoscopy case at Jerry Coughlan goes home to a Pickering house the same day. A break, a stroke or a longer medical stay goes to Ajax Pickering Hospital at 580 Harwood Avenue South, in Ajax. Either way, the bed, commode, knee scooter or lift is for the Pickering address, not for a hospital room in this city.

Door 1, inside Pickering

Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre

1690 Dersan Street, north Pickering. Day surgery including endoscopy, orthopaedics and gynaecological procedures, plus urgent care, imaging, lab and pharmacy. Crutches, a knee scooter, a commode or a short bed rental are the usual after-care kit. This is not an emergency department.

Door 2, in the next city

Ajax Pickering Hospital

580 Harwood Avenue South, Ajax ON L1S 2J4. Switchboard 905-683-2320. Lakeridge Health's community hospital for people who live and work in Ajax and Pickering. A Pickering discharge is a cross-boundary trip: hospital in Ajax, house in Pickering.

Then the house

Bay Ridges, Town Centre or Seaton

The equipment is measured for the Pickering house. A lakeshore bungalow, a 1970s split foyer, a City Centre suite and a new Seaton two-storey are four different installs. A stay that later needs inpatient rehab is assigned in Oshawa or Whitby. The house is still here.

The access reality

From Frenchman's Bay to Seaton, the house type changes the product.

Pickering is a lower-tier city in the Regional Municipality of Durham. It is the western edge of that region. Highway 401 and the CN corridor cut the city. Highway 407 sits north. A discharge from Ajax Pickering Hospital in south Ajax to a Seaton house is a different trip from a discharge to Bay Ridges.

This is a 1960s to 1990s two-storey and split-entry city, with a lakeshore bungalow band and a new north-end suburb. It is not a condo-first city. Pickering Village, the heritage community improvement area, is inside Ajax. It is not inside the City of Pickering. Competitor pages that caption a Pickering Village photo as Pickering have the geography wrong.

Lakeshore, south of the 401

Bay Ridges, West Shore, Rosebank, Frenchman's Bay

Official neighbourhoods on the City of Pickering Official Plan. Older, established streets around the water. Bay Ridges long-term care sits at 900 Sandy Beach Road. Abbey Lawn Manor is at 534 Rodd Avenue in the L1W lakeshore band. Bungalows with raised porches toward the lake or the street are the form that drives porch lifts and short exterior ramps. Exact lot grades are not published. We measure.

The majority vintage

1961 to 1990 two-storeys and split foyers

More than half of Pickering's occupied dwellings were built between 1961 and 1990, about 52 percent. The 1981 to 1990 decade is the single largest slice. Interior stairs to bedrooms are the indoor problem. Several steps from the driveway or foyer to the main floor are the outdoor problem. A straight indoor rail and a porch lift are the pair until the measure says otherwise. We do not claim most Pickering stairs are curved.

Valley Farm and Kingston Road

Town Centre towers, Chartwell, Orchard Villa, VIVA

Civic buildings sit at One The Esplanade. Chartwell Pickering City Centre is at 1801 Valley Farm Road. Orchard Villa is at 1955 Valley Farm Road. VIVA Pickering is at 1880 Glengrove Road. Apartment and mixed-use intensification is the access problem here: elevator booking, insurance certificates and loading docks. We confirm the booking with the building. We do not invent a Pickering condo bylaw.

Seaton and rural Claremont

New two-storeys between Brock Road and Whites Road

Seaton is the new community in the north. Seaton Village long-term care at 1550 Alexander Knox Road is under construction and projected to open late 2026. It is not a current discharge destination. Newer codes and wider garages do not mean a step-free house. Claremont and the other rural settlements have larger lots and longer private lanes. That is a delivery-access question, not a product SKU.

Several steps before the main floor

A raised entry is common in this vintage. If the problem is the foyer, not the flight to the bedrooms, a porch lift or a short modular ramp is the first product. An indoor stairlift is the wrong first guess.

Porch lifts
1961 to 1990 two-storey

An indoor flight to the bedrooms

A straight indoor rail fits a single run. A curved rail is only the answer if there is a mid-landing or a turn. We measure. We do not claim most Pickering stairs are curved. ADP will not pay for the rail.

Straight stairlifts
Bay Ridges, West Shore, Rosebank

A lakeshore bungalow with a raised porch

Fewer interior stairs, and a porch toward the lake or the street. A porch lift or a short exterior ramp is the usual pair. Sandy Beach lots can have grade changes. Exact grades are not published.

Ramps
2,510 semis

Shared walls and a tight front yard

The ramp footprint is short. A modular or switchback ramp, or a porch lift, beats a long timber run. ADP does not pay for either. March of Dimes HVMP is the usual funding path for a home modification of this kind.

Short ramps
Town Centre

The installer books the elevator

A suite at Chartwell, VIVA or a City Centre apartment is an elevator, certificate and dock-hours job, not a stair job inside the suite. A folding chair is often the chair that fits the booked car. We confirm the building rules.

Folding chairs
Seaton

New is not the same as step-free

Seaton two-storeys still have interior stairs and often a porch. A porch lift at the door and a straight rail inside are still the pair to measure. Do not treat Seaton Village long-term care as open. It is still being built.

Which product follows

A 1970s split foyer is a porch-lift job. A 1980s indoor flight is a stairlift job.

Pick the closest match. This is a starting point, not a quote. We still measure the porch and the stair.

What is the home in Pickering?

What we bring into this city

Split entries and lakeshore porches are why Pickering families call about lifts.

The catalogue is the same one we carry in Brampton. The mix that actually gets used here is not. 1960s to 1980s split foyers ask for porch lifts. 1981 to 1990 two-storeys ask for a straight indoor rail unless the measure finds a turn. Day surgery at Jerry Coughlan asks for a knee scooter, a commode or a short bed rental. A discharge from Ajax Pickering Hospital asks for a bed that will fit the Pickering door it is going through.

Raised foyer

Porch lifts

A vertical platform lift at a split entry or a lakeshore porch is a common job in this stock. It is not an ADP item. We quote after we see the rise from walk or driveway to door.

Porch lifts
Short yard

Ramps

A short modular ramp can fit a Bay Ridges porch or a semi-detached yard when the grade and the landing allow it. A long rural run is the wrong picture for most of this city. ADP does not cover ramps.

Ramps
Indoor flight

Straight stairlifts

A 1961 to 1990 two-storey with a single flight is a straight-rail job until the measure says otherwise. ADP will not pay for that rail. March of Dimes HVMP is the usual funding path.

Straight stairlifts
After Dersan Street

Hospital bed and knee-scooter rental

ADP does not fund hospital beds or knee scooters. After day surgery at Jerry Coughlan, or after a stay at Ajax Pickering Hospital, families usually rent while they sort insurance or, if they already receive Ontario Works, Durham additional benefits. We do not publish a same-week promise.

Rentals
City Centre suite

Folding chairs and lift chairs

A booked elevator at Chartwell, VIVA or a Town Centre apartment favours a chair that folds. A lift chair is a living-room product, not an ADP wheelchair. We quote after we know the door and the elevator.

ADP in this city

Wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program is provincial. In Pickering it still covers only wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating, at up to 75 percent of the approved amount. It does not cover bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts.

ADP, explained honestly
Landmarks of care, not partners of ours

Jerry Coughlan, Orchard Villa and Bay Ridges are in this city. The ER is not.

We are not on a preferred-vendor list at any of the sites below. The names matter because this is where a Pickering hospital bed, wheelchair or lift actually starts: a day-surgery nurse on Dersan Street, a planner at 580 Harwood in Ajax, a social worker at Orchard Villa on Valley Farm Road.

Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre (Lakeridge Health)

1690 Dersan Street, north Pickering ON L1X 0C3. Lakeridge's surgical centre and community health facility. Official services include day surgery (endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecological procedures), doctors' offices, urgent care, diagnostic imaging, lab and pharmacy. This is not an emergency department and not an inpatient hospital.

Ajax Pickering Hospital, in Ajax

580 Harwood Avenue South, Ajax ON L1S 2J4. Phone 905-683-2320. Full-service community hospital for people who live and work in Ajax and Pickering. Do not write "Pickering Hospital". There is no acute-care hospital inside Pickering. A stay here still comes home to a Pickering house.

Cardiac rehab at Pickering Soccer Centre

Regional cardiovascular rehabilitation has a Pickering site at 1975 Clements Road. Outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy is at Ajax Pickering Hospital in Ajax, not in Pickering. Inpatient rehabilitation units are at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and Lakeridge Health Whitby, first available bed. None of those wards is in Pickering.

Orchard Villa

1955 Valley Farm Road, Pickering ON L1V 3R6. Phone 1-905-831-2522. 233 licensed beds. For-profit. Licensee: CVH (No. 6) LP / Southbridge Care Homes. Placement is through Ontario Health atHome. A 320-bed redevelopment on this site is a proposal, not an open building. We do not invent wait times.

Bay Ridges

900 Sandy Beach Road, Pickering ON L1W 1Z4. Phone 1-905-837-8745. 124 licensed beds. For-profit. Licensee: Axium Extendicare LTC II LP. This is the lakeshore long-term care home, in the same band as the bungalows and Abbey Lawn Manor. It is not a City Centre address.

Seaton Village, still being built

1550 Alexander Knox Road, between Brock Road and Whites Road. Regional Municipality of Durham. 200 beds. Official Durham page: this location is currently under construction, projected to open late 2026. Do not treat it as a current discharge destination.

Retirement residences in Pickering

Chartwell Pickering City Centre, 1801 Valley Farm Road: independent living with Chartwell Care Assist, one- and two-bedroom suites near Pickering Town Centre and Esplanade Park. VIVA Pickering, 1880 Glengrove Road, 905-831-2088: independent and assisted living near Frenchman's Bay. Abbey Lawn Manor, 534 Rodd Avenue, 905-509-2582: a retirement home in the lakeshore band. We do not list unverified amenities.

Durham is the Ontario Works service manager. No Pickering OW office is listed. Call 905-666-6239 and ask which office holds the file. The nearest listed desk is 140 Commercial Avenue in Ajax. Confirm before you go.

What we do not list as Pickering

Ajax Pickering Hospital and Lakeridge Gardens are in Ajax. White Cliffe Terrace is in Courtice. Pickering Village is a heritage CIP in Ajax, not a neighbourhood of this city. This list is not a complete inventory of every licensed home in Durham.

A woman sitting on a Harmony adjustable homecare bed in a staged bedroom
A Harmony adjustable homecare bed. Product photograph. Not a bed we placed after Jerry Coughlan or at Orchard Villa.

A bed after Jerry Coughlan, or after Ajax Pickering Hospital, is a rental more often than a purchase. Pickering has no municipal hardship fund that will pay for that bed. If the person is on Ontario Works, call Durham at 905-666-6239 and ask which office holds the file. If not, the path is insurance, March of Dimes HVMP where a home modification applies, tax credits, or paying the rental. ADP will not fund the bed.

See hospital beds, rentals, and the funding index.

Funding in this city

Pickering has no municipal hardship fund. Durham Ontario Works is the path if you already receive it.

The administering body is the Regional Municipality of Durham. There is no City of Pickering equipment hardship program, and there is no Durham equipment hardship program for people who are not already on Ontario Works. Do not send a Pickering family to the City of Toronto Hardship Fund on 416-338-8888. Pickering borders Scarborough. It is not Toronto. A Pickering address is not eligible.

If you live in Pickering and are not on OW

There is no local hardship program to apply to

Official Durham pages we checked do not publish a municipal equipment hardship program for people who are not on Ontario Works. The path is the shared provincial and federal list: ADP for wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating; March of Dimes Home and Vehicle Modification Program; WSIB, Veterans Affairs, IFHP and NIHB when those programs apply; Easter Seals, Muscular Dystrophy Canada and The War Amps when you are a registered client; the Ontario Seniors Care at Home Tax Credit for people 70 and over; the federal Home Accessibility Tax Credit; private insurance.

If you already receive Ontario Works

Call 905-666-6239. There is no Pickering OW desk.

Durham OW Additional Benefits are for OW clients only: dental, prescription medication, vision, diabetic supplies, surgical supplies or dressings, education expenses, recreation subsidy, travel and transportation for medical purposes, and extended health benefits after leaving OW. The page does not publish a bed, lift or stairlift list. Westin does not decide eligibility.

No Pickering-specific OW office is listed on the Durham OW page. Call 905-666-6239, or the regional toll-free line 1-888-721-0622, and ask which office holds the file. The nearest listed office is 140 Commercial Avenue, Ajax. Confirm before you go there.

ADP itself is provincial. It is not a Pickering program. It funds wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only. It does not fund bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts. Dressing ADP as a local talking point is how the old city pages failed.

Do not apply these here

The Toronto Hardship Fund is for City of Toronto residents only. Do not call 416-338-8888 for a Pickering house. Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance is for Burlington, Oakville and Milton. Peel ODSP discretionary benefits are for Peel. None of those programs apply in Pickering.

Questions that only make sense here

Dersan Street, a Bay Ridges porch, and no Pickering OW desk.

If a question would still read as true in Milton, it is not on this list.

Do you have a store in Pickering?

No. Westin occupies two locations: the Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, and a second shop in Etobicoke. We deliver to and install in Pickering. There is a different company, 101 Mobility, at 1730 McPherson Court. They are not Westin. You can walk into that floor. You cannot walk into a Westin floor in Pickering.

Is there a hospital in Pickering?

There is no emergency hospital in Pickering. Ajax Pickering Hospital at 580 Harwood Avenue South in Ajax is the local acute hospital. Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre at 1690 Dersan Street is day surgery and outpatient care. It is not an ER and not an inpatient ward.

After day surgery at Jerry Coughlan, can you bring a bed or a knee scooter to the house?

Yes. That is a delivery and install in Pickering. ADP will not fund the bed or the knee scooter. Families usually rent. We do not publish a delivery window. Tell us the Pickering address, whether it is a lakeshore bungalow, a split foyer, a Town Centre suite or a Seaton two-storey.

If my parent is discharged from Ajax Pickering Hospital to a house in Bay Ridges or Seaton, can you set up a bed?

Yes. The hospital is in Ajax. The house is in Pickering. We measure that house and deliver there. A trip from 580 Harwood to Bay Ridges is not the same trip as 580 Harwood to Seaton. Both are Pickering installs. We do not publish a time.

Is there a Pickering hardship fund for a stairlift or a hospital bed?

No municipal equipment hardship program was found. If the person already receives Ontario Works, call Durham at 905-666-6239 and ask which office holds the file. There is no Pickering OW office listed. Everyone else uses ADP for wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only, March of Dimes HVMP for many home modifications, tax credits, insurance or a rental. Do not call the City of Toronto Hardship Fund on 416-338-8888. A Pickering address is not eligible.

Why would a Pickering house need a porch lift instead of an indoor stairlift?

A large share of the stock is 1960s to 1980s two-storeys and split entries, and the lakeshore neighbourhoods have bungalows with raised porches. If the problem is the front steps or the foyer, that is a porch lift or a ramp, not an indoor stairlift. An indoor stairlift is the product for a single flight to the bedrooms. We look at the actual steps.

Is Pickering Village in the City of Pickering?

No. Pickering Village is a heritage community improvement area inside the Town of Ajax. It is not a neighbourhood of this city. Do not send a Pickering Village file to a Pickering-only address book, and do not treat a photo labelled Pickering Village as a picture of this city.

Does ADP cover a hospital bed after Jerry Coughlan or after Ajax Pickering Hospital?

No. ADP is a provincial program. It funds wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only. It does not fund hospital beds, bathroom equipment, stairlifts, porch lifts, ramps or other lifts, in Pickering or anywhere else in Ontario. After Dersan Street or after 580 Harwood the bed is usually a rental. An approved wheelchair can go through ADP.
