Canadian owned and operated since 2012 Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton, Ontario
Halton Region. Served from Brampton.

Joseph Brant discharges come home to a mature Halton city, not a Milton subdivision.

Westin Healthcare delivers to and installs in Burlington. There is no Westin store, showroom or staff desk on Brant Street, on Lakeshore Road, or anywhere else in this city.

Joseph Brant Hospital at 1245 Lakeshore Road is Burlington's community hospital. It is not part of Halton Healthcare. For funding, this city sits inside Halton Region, so Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance applies. The City of Toronto Hardship Fund does not.

How we actually serve this city

The Brampton showroom sits almost due north of Burlington City Hall.

We come from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton, ON L7A 1B7. The road distance to City Hall at 426 Brant Street is about 61 km. That is a map fact, not a delivery window. We do not publish a delivery time or a service radius.

A discharge from Joseph Brant to a house in south Burlington is that same southbound run, not a hop from a fictional Burlington store. Call the Brampton order desk on 905 451-7743. The showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday 10am to 2pm, if you want to sit in a chair or try a lift before it goes into a Burlington home. There is a second Westin shop in Etobicoke. We do not claim it is closer to Burlington, and we do not print Etobicoke hours here.

We deliver to and install in Burlington. We do not occupy it. There is no Westin floor on Brant Street and no Westin desk at Joseph Brant.

The access reality

Half the occupied stock is single-detached. A quarter is condominium.

Burlington is a mature Halton city, not a boom town. The City of Burlington's 2021 Census memo recorded 186,948 residents, up 3,634 people or 2.0 percent from 2016. Milton grew 20.7 percent in the same period. Oakville grew 10.3 percent. Occupied-dwelling growth here was only 1,807 units, 2.5 percent.

Statistics Canada neighbouring-CSD tables put Burlington's single-detached share at 50.3 percent. Halton Region's 2021 Census housing sheet, using Statistics Canada, puts condominiums at 24 percent of occupied private dwellings, the highest of the four Halton municipalities (Oakville 17 percent, Milton 13 percent, Halton Hills 8 percent). That mix is the equipment brief: stairs and porches in the detached stock, elevator rules and threshold ramps in the condo stock.

Detached majority

Stairs, split entries, a raised porch

Half the occupied dwellings are single-detached. From that type we infer interior stairs, some turning stairs, and raised or split front entries. That is an inference from dwelling type, not a counted survey of Burlington stair shapes. We do not write that most stairs here are curved. We measure.

Curved stairlifts
Mature stock

Almost no new dwellings compared with Milton

1,807 new occupied units in five years is a slow city. A larger share of the houses are therefore older than Milton's greenfield stock. Narrower interior doors and tighter landings are more plausible here than in a 2010s subdivision. That is an inference, not a measured door-width study.

Manual wheelchairs
Highest condo share

Elevator bookings and a threshold, not just a porch

At 24 percent, Burlington has Halton's highest condo share. Towers bring elevator booking rules, loading-dock hours, and balcony or suite thresholds. We do not invent a specific condo corporation's rules. We ask the property manager before we promise an install day.

Orchard Park, Lakeshore Road, Upper Middle Road

The City publishes six wards, not an official neighbourhood gazetteer. Official Halton text locates Creek Way Village in the Orchard Park community. We use that name, plus downtown around City Hall on Brant Street, Lakeshore Road, and Upper Middle Road. We do not paste a realtor list onto this page.

Ramps

Lakeshore Road

Hospital, AgeCare Brant, Chartwell Lakeshore

Joseph Brant Hospital is at 1245 Lakeshore Road. AgeCare Brant sits next to it at 1182 Northshore Boulevard East. Chartwell Lakeshore is at 5314 Lakeshore Road, between Burloak Road and Appleby Line. Maple Villa is at 441 Maple Avenue, a short walk from the lake. This is the hospital-to-home corridor.

Upper Middle Road

Wellness House and Tansley Woods

Joseph Brant's Wellness House is at 2160 Itabashi Way, off Upper Middle Road between Walkers Line and Appleby Line. The Village of Tansley Woods is at 4100 Upper Middle Road: retirement apartments plus 144 licensed long-term care beds. Outpatient joints and a full continuum sit on this road, not on Lakeshore.

Orchard Park

Creek Way Village is Halton's municipal home here

Creek Way Village, 5200 Corporate Drive, is Halton Region's municipal long-term care home in Burlington. Official Halton text places it in the Orchard Park community. Allendale is Milton. Post Inn Village is Oakville. Do not send a Burlington placement file to those other municipal homes.

Pick the closest match. This is a starting point, not a quote. We still measure the stair, the porch, or the suite door.

What is the home in Burlington?

What we bring into this city

The stairlift is for the detached house. The folding chair is for the condo.

The catalogue is the same one we carry in Brampton. The mix that actually gets used here is not. A mature detached house asks for a rail and a short porch solution. A Lakeshore condo asks for a chair that will fit a suite door and a booked elevator. A Joseph Brant discharge asks for a homecare bed and, often, a bath aid that Halton LIFA can consider.

Detached stairs

Curved stairlifts

When the stair turns, a straight rail will not follow it. Handicare 4000, Freecurve and Access Flow X are the curved lines we install when the measure says the landing will take a rail. ADP will not pay for that rail. Halton LIFA does not list stairlifts. March of Dimes HVMP is the usual funding path.

Access Flow X curved stairlift
Raised entry

Porch lifts

A vertical platform lift at a raised or split entry is a common job on the detached stock. It is not an ADP item. It is not on the published LIFA list. We quote after we see the rise from sidewalk to door.

Porch lifts
Short grade

Ramps

A short modular ramp can fit an older porch when the grade and the landing allow it. In a condo, the job is more often a threshold ramp at the suite door. ADP does not cover ramps. LIFA does not list them.

Hospital bed rental

ADP does not fund hospital beds. Halton LIFA may, if a bed is necessary to prevent hospitalization, with an occupational therapist assessment and two estimates. Do not buy the bed first and ask Halton later. Residents in long-term care are outside that household path.

Power chairs that fold

A 24 percent condo share means more suite doors and more booked elevators. A folding power chair is often the honest first conversation, not a full-size outdoor scooter. We still measure the door. We do not invent a corporation's loading-dock hours.

Wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program is provincial. In Burlington it still covers only wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating, at up to 75 percent of the approved amount. It does not cover bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts.

Landmarks of care, not partners of ours

Joseph Brant Hospital sits at 1245 Lakeshore Road. It is not Halton Healthcare.

We are not on a preferred-vendor list at Joseph Brant, Wellness House, or Wellington Park. The names matter because this is where a Burlington hospital bed, wheelchair or bath aid actually starts: a planner on the North Tower, an occupational therapist at Wellness House, a social worker arranging a Restore bed. Halton Healthcare's three hospitals are Oakville Trafalgar Memorial, Milton District and Georgetown. Burlington patients go to Joseph Brant unless they are referred out.

Joseph Brant Hospital

1245 Lakeshore Road, Burlington ON L7S 0A2. Switchboard 905-632-3737. Community hospital for this city. Inpatient Rehabilitation on Levels 4 and 6 of the North Tower, for medically stable patients after cardiac events, stroke or surgery. Phone 905-632-3730 ext. 4132. Related programs: Complex Care, Integrated Stroke Unit (acute plus rehab), Hand and Upper Limb Clinic.

Wellness House

2160 Itabashi Way, off Upper Middle Road between Walkers Line and Appleby Line. Joseph Brant's outpatient facility, including the Total Joint Rehabilitation Clinic. A hip or knee that goes home from here still needs a safe bathroom and, often, a short-term bed. That is a house job, not a hospital job.

Wellington Park Restore

Wellington Park Care Centre, 802 Hager Avenue, L7S 1X2, near downtown. Licensed long-term care since 1974, plus a 16-bed Restore program that takes patients from hospital until they are strong enough to go home. The operator names Joseph Brant and Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Ontario Health atHome as partners. Those are their partners, not ours.

AgeCare Brant, next to the hospital

1182 Northshore Boulevard East, 175 licensed long-term care beds, next to Joseph Brant Hospital. A family leaving the North Tower often walks past this building. Long-term care admission in this area is coordinated by Ontario Health atHome. Halton Region's own long-term care page lists 1-800-810-0000 for Burlington. We do not invent wait times.

Creek Way Village

5200 Corporate Drive, Orchard Park. Halton Region municipal long-term care, 144 beds. This is Burlington's municipal home. Allendale is Milton. Post Inn Village is Oakville.

The Village of Tansley Woods

4100 Upper Middle Road. Schlegel Villages continuum: independent living, retirement apartments, assisted care, memory care, plus 144 licensed long-term care beds. The operator states 433 apartments after the 2020 expansion.

Chartwell Lakeshore

5314 Lakeshore Road. Retirement residence: independent living, assisted living and memory care on Lake Ontario, between Burloak Road and Appleby Line. Not long-term care.

Other licensed homes in the city

Burloak, 5959 New Street, 144 beds. Billings Court Manor, 3700 Billings Court, 160 beds. Maple Villa, 441 Maple Avenue, 93 beds since 1971. CAMA Woodlands, 159 Panin Road, a 128-bed charitable home. This is not a complete inventory of every licensed bed in Burlington.

A bed after Joseph Brant or after a Restore stay is a rental more often than a purchase. ADP will not fund it. Halton LIFA may, if Halton agrees a bed is necessary to prevent hospitalization. If the person is already on Ontario Works, ask the Halton OW case manager about discretionary benefits. If they live in long-term care, household LIFA bath-aid rules do not apply to them.

Funding in this city

Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance applies in Burlington.

The administering body is Halton Region. Burlington is a lower-tier city. It is not its own service manager. Hamilton, next door, is a single-tier city and runs its own Ontario Works. Do not send a Burlington file to Hamilton. Do not send it to Toronto Employment and Social Services either.

If you live in Burlington

Check Halton LIFA first for beds, lifts and bath aids

Low-Income Financial Assistance is Halton's own one-time help with health needs and select ADP devices. It is not Ontario Works. Published items include bath aids (transfer bench, raised toilet seat, stationary commode, grab bars), hospital beds if necessary to prevent hospitalization, and mechanical, ceiling or Hoyer lifts when other funding is not available. Stairlifts, porch lifts and home modifications are not on the published list.

Check eligibility in Halton's health tool, then apply through a Halton 311 account, or call 311. Documents can be uploaded or dropped at Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville. That drop-off is in Oakville, not at Burlington City Hall. Do not order or pay before Halton approval. Halton will not reimburse a purchase made first.

Do not call 416-338-8888 from Burlington

A Burlington resident is not eligible for the City of Toronto Hardship Fund. 416-338-8888 is Toronto Employment and Social Services. Peel, York and Durham do not run Halton LIFA. Hamilton does not run it either. If someone handed you a Toronto number after a stay at Joseph Brant, ignore it and start with Halton 311.

ADP itself is provincial. It is not a Burlington program and it is not LIFA. It funds wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only. Dressing ADP as a local talking point is how the old city pages failed.

Halton Ontario Works discretionary benefits

If the person already has a Halton Ontario Works file, talk to the case manager about mandatory and discretionary benefits. LIFA is the path for people who are not getting those items through OW. Westin does not decide eligibility.

ADP for wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating; March of Dimes Home and Vehicle Modification Program for many stair and porch jobs; WSIB, Veterans Affairs, IFHP and NIHB when those programs apply; Easter Seals, Muscular Dystrophy Canada and The War Amps when you are a registered client; tax credits; private insurance. See the funding index.

Questions that only make sense here

Joseph Brant, Halton LIFA, and a condo on Lakeshore.

If a question would still read as true in Milton or Hamilton, it is not on this list.

Is there a Westin store in Burlington?

No. Westin occupies two locations: the Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, and a second shop in Etobicoke. We deliver to and install in Burlington from Brampton. There is no Westin store on Brant Street, on Lakeshore Road, or at Joseph Brant Hospital.

Is Joseph Brant Hospital part of Halton Healthcare?

No. Joseph Brant Hospital at 1245 Lakeshore Road is Burlington's community hospital. It is not part of Halton Healthcare. Halton Healthcare's three hospitals are Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Burlington patients go to Joseph Brant unless they are referred out.

Does Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance apply in Burlington?

Yes. Burlington is a lower-tier city in Halton Region. Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance is the municipal program here. Check eligibility at Halton's online health tool or call 311. Document drop-off is Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville, not Burlington City Hall. Stairlifts, porch lifts and home modifications are not on the published LIFA list.

Can a Burlington resident use the City of Toronto Hardship Fund?

No. A Burlington resident is not eligible. Do not call 416-338-8888. That number is Toronto Employment and Social Services. The municipal path here is Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance through Halton 311. Hamilton, next door, is a single-tier city and does not administer LIFA either.

Does ADP cover a stairlift in Burlington?

No. ADP is a provincial program. It funds wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only. It does not fund stairlifts, porch lifts, ramps, bathroom equipment, beds or other lifts, in Burlington or anywhere else in Ontario. Halton LIFA does not list stairlifts either. The usual funding path for a rail in this city is March of Dimes HVMP.

How do I get a wheelchair after discharge from Joseph Brant Hospital?

Westin can assess and deliver from Brampton to a home in this city. We do not sit on a preferred-vendor list at Joseph Brant (1245 Lakeshore Road) and we do not publish a delivery window. Approved wheelchairs can go through ADP. The bed, the stairlift and the porch lift cannot. Ask Halton LIFA about the bed, a lift or a bath aid if the household may qualify. If the person is already on Ontario Works, start with the Halton case manager as well.

What is the Restore program at Wellington Park?

Wellington Park Care Centre at 802 Hager Avenue is a licensed long-term care home near downtown. The operator runs a 16-bed Restore program that takes patients from hospital until they are strong enough to go home, and names Joseph Brant and Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Ontario Health atHome as partners. We do not supply that unit. When the person then comes home, the usual first conversation is a rental bed, a bath aid, and whether the house stairs will take a rail.

I live in a condo. Can you still deliver and install?

Yes. Burlington has Halton's highest condo share, 24 percent of occupied dwellings in 2021. We deliver to and install in condo buildings. We need the property manager's elevator and loading-dock rules before we book the day. We do not invent those rules. A folding power chair and a threshold ramp are often the first products we talk about. A full outdoor scooter is not always the right first chair for a suite door.
