Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital is the hospital that sits in Richmond Hill, at 10 Trench Street, at Trench and Major Mackenzie Drive. It is the older of the two Mackenzie Health hospitals. Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened in 2021 and is in Vaughan, not here.
High-intensity orthopedic and medical rehab (non-stroke) is at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. The Integrated Stroke Unit is at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Westin is not a partner of Mackenzie Health. We deliver equipment to the home after a discharge, or we meet you at the Brampton or Etobicoke floor if you want to try a chair first.
Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital
10 Trench Street, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 4Z3. High-intensity rehab aimed at going home. Mackenzie Health Long Term Care occupies the third, fourth and fifth floors of the hospital A-Wing in the same building.
Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital
The Integrated Stroke Unit is there. Do not plan stroke-unit rehab as if it happens at Trench Street. If the discharge is from Vaughan, the city page that matches that hospital is Vaughan, not this one.
Houses, rows and Yonge Street
What kind of housing is Richmond Hill, and what follows from it?
Richmond Hill is mixed. The 2021 Census count used by York Region is 69,320 occupied dwellings: about 57 percent single-detached, 15 percent row, and 21 percent apartment. Apartments of five or more storeys rose 23 percent between 2016 and 2021 and make up about 19 percent of dwellings.
On the detached and row streets the usual access problems are interior stairs and a front step. On the Yonge Street corridor around Hillcrest Mall, Harding Boulevard and north to Mon Sheong at 11199 Yonge Street, the usual problem is booking an elevator for a hospital bed. Building rules are set by each condo or landlord. We confirm them at the assessment. We do not have a city-wide elevator bylaw to quote.
Stairlifts and porch lifts
Interior stairs and a front step are why families on detached and row streets ask about a straight stairlift or a porch lift. ADP does not pay for either. See funding for the real routes.
Hospital beds and rentals
A discharge from Trench Street often needs a homecare bed for a few weeks. Beds are not an ADP item. Renting is the usual short stay answer. We quote. We do not list a price here.
Wheelchairs, scooters, seating
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program is provincial. In Richmond Hill it still covers only wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating, at up to 75 percent of the approved amount, or 100 percent if the person is on OW, ODSP or ACSD. It does not cover bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps or lifts.
Not an ADP category

- Sunrise of Richmond Hill 9800 Yonge Street, at Harding Boulevard, south of Major Mackenzie and north of Hillcrest Mall. Assisted living, memory care and short-term stays.
York Region's two municipal long-term care homes are in Maple and Newmarket, not in Richmond Hill. This list is not a complete inventory.

Is there a hardship fund for equipment in Richmond Hill?
No. There is no municipal equipment hardship fund in Richmond Hill. The Toronto Hardship Fund is for City of Toronto residents only. Peel discretionary benefits and Halton Low-Income Financial Assistance do not apply here.
York Region Ontario Works
