Warranty and repairs

Repair policy

Our repair and warranty policy covers medical equipment from Westin Healthcare, including wheelchairs, mobility scooters and stairlifts. For coverage on your specific equipment, call us or book a service visit.

What this policy covers

In plain language
This is how warranty and paid repairs work on equipment we sell or service. It is not a published list of warranty lengths. Those vary by manufacturer and are confirmed in writing with your quote and invoice.

The snapshot this page replaces said the policy covers medical equipment from Westin Healthcare, including wheelchairs, mobility scooters and stairlifts. That is still true. Our technicians also service hospital beds, patient lifts, ceiling lifts and bath equipment. If you are unsure whether yours is in scope, call 905 451-7743 and ask before you book.

This page sits beside the terms of service. Where a signed quote, invoice or a manufacturer warranty document says something different from this page, that document governs.

Manufacturer warranty

Equipment carries the warranty offered by its manufacturer. Terms vary by product. We do not publish warranty periods on this website because doing so accurately for every product is not possible.

If something fails, contact us rather than the manufacturer. We handle the claim and we service what we sell, from Brampton, across the GTA.

Whether a given fault is covered depends on the manufacturer, the age of the equipment and its service history. We cannot tell you over the phone with any certainty, and we would rather not guess. The technician assesses it on site. If it is a warranty claim we handle the paperwork with the manufacturer and confirm the position with you in writing.

What warranty usually excludes

Warranties generally require that equipment is used as intended and maintained as recommended. They generally exclude:

  • Consumables such as batteries, tires, sling fabric and upholstery
  • Damage from misuse, neglect or unauthorized modification
  • Faults that follow a missed annual service, where the manufacturer treats that service as a condition of warranty
Batteries are consumables
A flat battery is usually a replacement, not a warranty repair. See battery replacement. ADP does not fund batteries.

How a warranty claim works

Book a visit on service and repairs, or call. Tell us the make, model, when the fault started, and any code on the display. A photograph or a short video helps. You can email those to [email protected] once you have a reference number.

The technician diagnoses the fault on site. If the work is under warranty we process it with the manufacturer. If it is not, we quote the parts and labour before any further work goes ahead. Nothing is added without your agreement.

Repairs outside warranty

Servicing outside warranty is chargeable at our current rates, which we will quote before attending wherever possible. You pay for the service call itself, which covers the technician attending, diagnosing the fault and carrying out minor adjustments. The charge is confirmed with you before you are asked for any payment details.

Common wear items such as batteries, chargers, castors, fuses, remotes, cables and fixings are often in the van. Model-specific components usually have to be ordered. Parts availability on discontinued equipment cannot be guaranteed.

If you need the equipment while a part is on order, ask about a rental. We rent beds, wheelchairs, scooters and lifts across the GTA.

Who we service

You do not have to have bought the equipment from us. We service equipment from other suppliers and equipment whose original dealer has closed, which is a common situation with stairlifts. Tell us the make and model when you book and we will tell you honestly whether the parts are still available before anyone drives out.

We work with households and with facilities. We can invoice a facility directly rather than an individual. Tell us at the booking stage so we set the account up correctly.

Our technicians cover Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Caledon, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke and Richmond Hill. Beyond that, call us and we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you.

Funding for repairs

ADP does not fund this
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program covers wheelchairs, approved scooters and seating only. It does not fund repairs. It does not fund batteries. It does not fund bathroom equipment, beds, stairlifts, ramps, lifts, slings, braces or overbed tables.

Sometimes another program will help, and it varies. WSIB and Veterans Affairs often do cover ongoing maintenance, including batteries. The City of Toronto Hardship Fund does fund repairs for eligible low-income Toronto residents, but a cost estimate has to reach them before any work is done, so tell us before we start. See funding and Toronto Hardship Fund.

How to start

If somebody is stuck on a stairlift or a hoist has stopped mid-transfer, phone. Do not use the booking form.

Questions about this policy

What equipment does the repair policy cover?

Wheelchairs, mobility scooters and stairlifts, which is what the previous page named, plus the other equipment our technicians already service: hospital beds, patient lifts, ceiling lifts and bath equipment. Call if you are unsure.

Is my repair under warranty?

That depends on the manufacturer, the age of the equipment and its service history. We cannot tell you over the phone with any certainty. The technician assesses it on site and we confirm the position in writing.

Does ADP pay for repairs or batteries?

No. ADP funds approved wheelchairs, scooters and seating. It does not fund repairs and it does not fund batteries. WSIB and Veterans Affairs often do cover ongoing maintenance. Toronto Hardship Fund can fund repairs for eligible Toronto residents if an estimate reaches them first.

Do you only repair equipment you sold?

No. We service equipment from other suppliers and equipment whose original dealer has closed. Tell us the make and model when you book so we can say whether parts are still available.

How do I start a warranty claim?

Book on the service and repairs page or call 905 451-7743. We handle the manufacturer paperwork. Do not send the equipment back without speaking to us first.

This page is written in plain language so it can be understood without a lawyer. It is a summary of how we handle repairs and warranty. Where a signed quote, invoice or manufacturer warranty says something different, that document governs. We do not list prices here.
