It is a free-standing activity and therapy seat on a Hi-Low or Easy chassis, not a wheelchair cushion. The child's occupational therapist or physiotherapist measures the pelvis, trunk, and legs. Who this seating system is for

This seat is for a young child whose therapy team wants pelvic, trunk, head, and leg support in a colourful chair that still leaves the arms free. Families usually call us when a therapist has named Squiggles, or when they need to choose between Squiggles and the larger Mygo seat.

How Squiggles seats

Pelvic stability is the starting point. The four-point harness buckles at the centre. A flexible sacral cushion sits behind the pelvis. Laterals, harnesses, specialist headrests, trays, and footing options are quote accessories.

The Hi-Low chassis changes height with a gas-compression foot pedal so the child can work, rest, or play at eye level. Tilt-in-space on the Hi-Low chassis is 10 degrees prone and 30 degrees recline. The Easy chassis tilts 20 degrees either way. The seat unit itself reclines 25 degrees and comes 10 degrees prone.

Growth and fit

Leckey prints continuous back-height growth of 2.3 in, an optional shoulder guide that adds 3.9 in, and a seat surface that grows 3.9 in in width and in depth. Seat width between hip guides is 6.3-10.2 in. Seat depth is 7.5-11.4 in. Seat to footplate is 4.8-10.6 in. Sitting shoulder height is 12.6-15 in, or 16.5-18.9 in with shoulder support.

When the child leaves that band, the next Leckey seat is usually Mygo, not a bigger Squiggles shell. We requote from new measurements.

Squiggles or Mygo

Stay with Squiggles when the child is in the early height and weight band and the seat will live on a Hi-Low or Easy chassis at home or school. Move to Mygo when the child needs the 3-14 year (and Size 3) band, or when the seat must mount on a ZIPPIE IRIS mobility base.

Funding help for pediatric seating in Ontario

Funding support may be available for prescribed pediatric seating in Ontario depending on the assessment and the equipment. Talk to the child's therapy team and to us before you buy.
