Description

The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single Sub-Occipital Head Support is Sunrise Medical's two-pad Whitmyer system for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. A curved sub-occipital pad sits with an independently adjustable occipital pad.

This is a quote-only configured head support. The ERP name says SOFT. Sunrise prints S.O.F.T. The pad set and the hardware are separate lines.

Who this head support is for

The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single Head Support fits a person whose seating therapist wants sub-occipital and proximal lateral contact plus a separate occipital pad that can move forward and back. A seating therapist should confirm adult or pediatric pads. This page does not give clinical positioning advice.

  • Four occipital plus sub-occipital combinations on the CA card
  • Independent anterior-posterior occipital pad
  • Hardware selected on the order

Pads, covers, and mount hardware

The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single Head Support uses one curved sub-occipital pad plus an occipital pad. Covers are Lycra (4-way stretch, water-resistant), Fleece (washable lambswool), or Dartex Reversed (anti-allergenic, waterproof, 2-way stretch). Six Whitmyer hardware families are printed on the adult cards: Axys, Onyx, Linx, Pro, Cobra Xtra, and Cobra Xtra Flip Back. The pad and the hardware are separate order lines. We measure the back before we pick a stem. We do not invent a cane diameter.

Which Whitmyer head support

Stay here if this pad is the brief. The Whitmyer PLUSH is the basic posterior pad. The Specialty PLUSH adds Adjust-a-Plush, Dual Mount, and 12 inch narrow. The Contoured Cradle cradles the occiput. The S.O.F.T. Single and S.O.F.T. Dual add sub-occipital pads. The Heads Up adds anterior arms. The Cuddles Infant System is the infant size. The Spex Stylo Head Support is the long-reach Spex stem.

Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario

This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers this head support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, check it against the wheelchair, and show you the cover and any hardware before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sample first. For a scheduled in-home drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date after the assessment and quote.

If the order is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the seating needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Sunrise Medical Whitmyer warranty

Sunrise Medical's Canadian Whitmyer cards print that warranty coverage can vary from one province to another depending on funding requirements. We handle the warranty claim with you and will read the owner's manual that ships with the pad. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Head Supports?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists positioning devices such as cushions, back supports, and head supports when they are required with a wheelchair. A specific pad still has to go through an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.

Do I Order This Off The Shelf?

This is a quote-only seating product. Westin configures it after a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. There is no add-to-cart delivery of a custom or made-to-order seat.

What Is The Difference Between S.O.F.T. Single And Dual?

The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single Head Support uses one sub-occipital pad plus an occipital pad. Dual uses two width- and rotation-adjustable sub-occipital pads plus an occipital pad.

Does S.O.F.T. Single Include Hardware?

The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single Head Support pads do not include a stem until hardware is selected. Adult families are Axys, Onyx, Linx, Pro, Cobra Xtra, and Cobra Xtra Flip Back.

Why Does The Name Say SOFT And S.O.F.T.?

The Westin row uses SOFT. Sunrise Medical prints S.O.F.T. on the Canadian card. They are the same Whitmyer family.

Can I See This Seating In Brampton?

Westin Healthcare can show Spex, Ride Designs, and Whitmyer samples in the Brampton and Toronto stores when they are on the floor, and can quote a configured product after a seating assessment. Call (905) 451-7743.
