Description

The Medcare Repositioning Sling is an in-bed sheet for turning, boosting, and a lateral move while the person stays on the mattress. Medcare is a Savaria / Handicare brand. The sheet is built to stay on the bed under the linen. Eight colour-coded loop straps hook to a 2-point or 4-point hook-and-loop carry bar. Westin Healthcare quotes it and fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.

This is the Medcare 402500 / 402503 / 600210 family. It is not the narrower Medcare Stretcher Sling used for a bed-to-gurney move. It is also not a seated transfer sling. If the person sits for the lift, start with the Handicare Universal Sling.

Who this sling is for

This sling is for a person who needs help to turn, boost, or move sideways in bed on a ceiling lift or a floor lift with a hook-and-loop carry bar. It is used when the care plan calls for a leave-under sheet rather than a seated sling. It is not a sit-to-stand sling and it is not a hygiene sling with a commode opening.

  • In-bed turning, boosting, and lateral moves on a loop carry bar
  • Homes and care rooms that want the sheet to stay under the linen between lifts
  • A 1,000 lb family rating when the lift and the bar can match that load

What you get

You get one sheet in the model on the quote: mesh, polyester bariatric, or disposable. Each sheet has eight loop straps (head, shoulder, leg, and foot on each side) with yellow, black, blue, and white loops so you can keep the person level. Durable mesh and polyester include antimicrobial protection. The disposable sheet is a single-patient breathable sheet and does not include that finish.

The sling is a loop sling. It does not use clip studs or a Human Care E-clip / mushroom bar.

Size options

Use the Model selector to pick the factory code on your quote:

  • 402500: Mesh 55.5 in x 80.5 in (141 cm x 204 cm)
  • 402503: Polyester Bariatric 70 in x 88 in (178 cm x 224 cm)
  • 600210: Disposable 55.5 in x 80.5 in (141 cm x 204 cm)

Mesh 402500 is the usual adult sheet. Polyester 402503 is the larger bariatric sheet. Disposable 600210 is the same footprint as the mesh sheet for one person. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use.

This listing is quote-only. There is no extra on any row. A lift is sold separately.

Medcare Repositioning Sling specifications

These figures are for the Medcare 402500 / 402503 / 600210 family. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Family safe working load is 1,000 lb (454 kg). The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the carry bar, and the sling. Mesh and disposable sheets measure 55.5 in wide by 80.5 in long. The polyester bariatric sheet measures 70 in wide by 88 in long. The fabric has a slight stretch so it can contour. Durable mesh and polyester wash at a maximum of 165 F (74 C) and dry at a maximum of 175 F (79 C). Do not bleach. Do not dry-clean. The disposable sheet is not washed; replace it when it is soiled.

Attachment and compatible lifts

The Medcare Repositioning Sling is a loop sling with an 8-point hook-up. The straps go on a 2-point or 4-point hook-and-loop carry bar. Medcare pairs the sheet with a Medcare ceiling lift. Do not put these loops on a clip bar, a stud bar, or a Human Care E-clip / mushroom bar. If the bar is an E-clip, see the Human Care Full Body Sling E-clip instead.

On our floor, Handicare loop carry-bar hooks sit on the Handicare C450, the Handicare C625, and the Handicare A450, and on the two-point SlingBar of the Handicare Carina 350. Confirm the bar type before the first lift. A 450 lb motor limits the system to 450 lb even though the sling family is 1,000 lb. A Carina 350 limits the system to 350 lb. A C625 limits the system to 625 lb.

Shop related styles in full-body slings and specialty slings. For a seated loop sling, stay with the Universal. We also stock WendyLett slide sheets for a manual in-bed turn that does not use a lift; ask us to add that on the same quote when it fits the care plan.

Care and laundering

Durable mesh 402500 and polyester 402503: machine wash in a soap solution at a maximum of 165 F (74 C), rinse well, then hang or tumble dry at a maximum of 175 F (79 C). Do not bleach. Do not dry-clean. Do not overload the dryer. Do not put the sheet on a direct heat source. You can wipe it between washes. Inspect loops, seams, and fabric after every wash. Take the sling out of service if anything is worn, frayed, torn, or burned.

Disposable 600210: do not wash. Use it for one person. Replace it when it is soiled.

Delivery in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team can deliver this sling across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a Handicare lift setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sling first. For a scheduled drop-off or a fitting, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.

This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a lift. If it travels with a patient lift, the lift is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Warranty

When something on the sling needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.

Frequently asked questions

What model is this?

It is the Medcare Repositioning Sling. The three factory codes on this listing are 402500 mesh, 402503 polyester bariatric, and 600210 disposable.

Is this a loop sling or an E-clip sling?

Loop. Eight colour-coded straps hook to a 2-point or 4-point hook-and-loop carry bar. It does not use clip studs or Human Care mushroom E-clips.

What is the safe working load?

1,000 lb (454 kg) on the family. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the bar, and the sling.

Which size should I order?

Mesh 402500 is the usual 55.5 in x 80.5 in adult sheet. Polyester 402503 is the 70 in x 88 in bariatric sheet. Disposable 600210 matches the mesh footprint for one person. Confirm with a clinician or our staff before first use.

Can the sling stay under the person?

Yes. This sheet is designed to stay on the bed under the linen. The disposable version is a breathable single-patient sheet for the same job.

Is this the Medcare Stretcher Sling?

No. The stretcher is a narrower 47.5 in sheet for a bed-to-gurney or theatre-table move. This page is the wider in-bed repositioning sheet for turning and boosting.

How is this different from a Positioning Sling or an in-situ sheet?

Those are later Savaria / Silvalea families. The Positioning Sling is a full-body horizontal sling. The In-Situ Repositioning Sheet is a mattress sheet with elastic corners. This page is the Medcare 8-point loop sheet in 402500, 402503, and 600210.

Does it fit a C450, A450, C625, or Carina 350?

Those Handicare motors use loop carry-bar hooks, which is the attachment class this sling is built for. Confirm the bar on your motor and stay inside the lowest working load. A 450 lb motor is the limit on the C450 and A450. A Carina 350 is a 350 lb limit. A C625 is a 625 lb limit.

How do I wash the durable sheets?

Wash mesh 402500 and polyester 402503 in a soap solution at a maximum of 165 F (74 C). Hang or tumble dry at a maximum of 175 F (79 C). Do not bleach. Do not dry-clean. Follow the label on the sling you receive.

Can I wash the disposable sheet?

No. Disposable 600210 is not washed. Use it for one person and replace it when it is soiled.

Can one caregiver put it on?

The in-use photos show two caregivers at the bed. We will not promise that one person is always enough.

Does funding cover a sling in Ontario?

Slings follow the funding path of the lift they are used with. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check the lift and the sling together.
