Description

The Magic Mobility Extreme X8 is a 4x4 all-terrain power wheelchair from Sunrise Medical. Westin Healthcare configures it after an assessment and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

This is not a compact indoor Mini and it is not the servo-steer XT4. Seat size, comfort or rehab seating, and power functions are written on the Magic order form. Sunrise Canada's spec table rates the X8 at 400 lbs (350 lbs with power tilt and elevate), 10 km/h (6 mph), 12 miles, a 28 inch width, and a 26 inch turning radius. An ADP-registered therapist assessment still comes first if you are asking Ontario to help. Not every power wheelchair qualifies.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs four driven knobby tyres on sand, mud, snow, or unpaved ground, and who is within Sunrise's 400 lb rating (350 lbs if tilt and elevate are on the order). Families usually call us for rural work, long driveways, and trail days that a Quickie mid-wheel will not finish.

If you want servo-powered steering and Group 31 range, start with the Magic Mobility XT4. If you need mid-wheel indoors, see the Frontier V6 or the Magic 360.

  • 4x4 with four independent motors
  • Articulating front frame and low-pressure knobby tyres
  • 12 mile range on the Canada spec table (setup and conditions change that)

Design and outdoor drive

Sunrise puts one high-torque motor at each X8 wheel. The articulating front frame and low-pressure knobby tyres are how the Canada page describes curb and step work and a smoother ride. Magic asks riders to run low tyre pressures so the chair leaves less of a trail mark. The chair is electrically powered and must not be driven through water, rivers, or the sea. That warning is printed as critical on the Canada FAQ.

Rehab seat 12 to 24 inches wide and 12 to 22 inches deep. Comfort seat 16 to 22 by 16 to 22 inches. Seat-to-floor 18.5 inches, or 19.3 inches with swing-away legrests. JAY cushions and Whitmyer headrests are manufacturer options. This is Magic seating, not SEDEO. Crash tested to ISO 7176-19. The chair does not fold.

Canada colours are Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, Fire Engine Red, Clover Green, Tangerine, and Next Camo G2.

Magic Mobility Extreme X8 specifications

These figures are for the current Extreme X8 as printed on Sunrise Medical Canada. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Width 28 inches. Length 40.5 inches without the footrest. Turning radius 26 inches (the Canada FAQ also describes a driven U-turn in 6 ft 6 in of width). Speed 10 km/h (6 mph). Range 12 miles. Drive 4x4. User weight 400 lbs; 350 lbs with power tilt and elevate. Product weight 370 lbs on the spec table. The same page's FAQ gives about 330 lbs as an average with 73 Ah batteries. The X8 brochure starts at 320 lbs and names Group 24 batteries.

The Canada page footer says warranty coverage may vary by province and funding. Ask us which insert ships with a Canadian Magic chair.

How this chair is configured

Every Extreme X8 is written on the Magic Mobility order form with the therapist or the clinic. Seat size, tilt or elevate, lights, and colour are set there. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will start that form with you.

Extreme X8 or XT4

The Extreme X8 is the four-motor 4x4 with a 26 inch turn and a 12 mile Canada range. The XT4 is the servo-steer 4x4 with Group 31 batteries, a 19 mile range, and a 55.5 inch turn. They are separate Magic models. Pick the X8 when you want the tighter 4x4 turn. Pick the XT4 when you want servo steering and the longer printed range.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

After the chair is built to the order, Westin's own team delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the joystick, charger, and any seating functions before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a 4x4 base first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This power wheelchair is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Sunrise / Magic Mobility warranty

The Canada Extreme X8 page says warranty coverage may vary by province and funding. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us which insert ships with your chair.
