Description

The Savaria M-Series Bariatric is a lithium-ion fixed ceiling-lift cabin with two synchronized motors in one case. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The cabin stays in the track. A strap lowers a 2-point or 4-point bariatric carry bar so a person can be transferred in a sling without a floor lift in the room.

Savaria lists this cabin in three safe working loads: 800 lb (363 kg), 1000 lb (454 kg), and 1200 lb (544 kg). Ask us which motor is on your quote. If 600 lb is enough, start with the Savaria M-Series lithium-ion ceiling lift. If you want a smaller Handicare C-Series motor, see the Handicare C625 or the Handicare C450.

Who it is for

This cabin is for a person whose own weight, plus the sling and any accessories, needs an overhead motor above the 600 lb M-Series Clinical family. Homes, long-term care rooms, and hospital rooms use it when a rated track can be planned, or when an existing rail can be checked and approved for this load. Pick the 800, 1000, or 1200 lb motor to match the person, not the highest number on the family sheet.

  • Home bedrooms and bathrooms that can take a bariatric-rated track
  • Long-term care and hospital rooms that need one cabin instead of a two-motor tandem rail
  • Sites replacing a lead-acid bariatric motor and wanting lithium-ion charge time and a 3-year battery-included warranty

What you get

A fixed M-Series Bariatric cabin stays in the track. Two motors in that one case raise the strap together. The carry bar comes down, loop slings seat on the hooks, the safety latches close, and the cabin lifts the person. Power traverse moves the cabin along the rail at one of four speeds (the factory setting is 19 cm/s). Savaria also names motorized 360-degree rotation on this cabin, so the bar can turn clockwise or counterclockwise in a tight room.

The optional motorized 4-point tilting carry bar adds powered tilt for positioning. A 2-point or 4-point manual bariatric bar is the simpler choice when tilt is not needed. QRS versions let a trained installer swap bars. Soft start and soft stop are built in. The strap is a disinfectable antimicrobial path with a no-fray route. Savaria's 3-Down function on this cabin is powered emergency lowering, powered emergency raising, and a reset from the floor.

The installed safe working load is still the lowest rating among motor, track, bar, and sling. Track must be rated at or above the motor. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.

Savaria M-Series Bariatric specifications

These figures are for the Savaria M-Series Bariatric cabin, not the 17 lb Essential or Clinical motor. Savaria prints a product weight of 23.5 kg (51.8 lb) and a case size of 44 x 50 x 25 cm (17.25 x 19.5 x 10 in). Lifting range is 230 cm (90.5 in). Lifting clearance is 56 cm (22 in) with the motorized 4-point bar, 53 cm (20.75 in) with a manual 4-point bar, and 47 cm (18.5 in) with a manual 2-point bar.

Lift speed is 5.5 cm/s at no load, 5 cm/s at 800 lb, 4.5 cm/s at 1000 lb, and 4.0 cm/s at 1200 lb. Power-traverse speeds are 12, 19, 22, and 26 cm/s. Two lithium-ion packs (25.2 V, 2500 mAh) sit in the cabin and take about 4 hours to charge from empty. Savaria prints about 70 cycles of 24 in at 800 lb, 45 at 1000 lb, and 30 at 1200 lb on one charge. With constant charge in the track, daily cycles are limited by the 10 percent duty cycle (1 minute continuous) to about 150 at maximum load. The cabin is IP20. The hand control is IPx6, with IPx7 as an option. Noise is at most 54 dBA. Product life is 10 years. Standards on the owner's manual include ISO 10535:2021, CAN/CSA Z10535.1:15, IEC 60601-1, and IEC 60601-1-11.

Do not read the 600 lb Clinical M-Series weight or 2-hour charge time onto this cabin. That sibling is a different listing.

Safe working load options

  • 800 lb (363 kg)
  • 1000 lb (454 kg)
  • 1200 lb (544 kg)

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this ceiling lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ceiling lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Ceiling lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?

Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.

For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Which slings and track this lift fits

Savaria lists loop slings on a 2-point bariatric bar (M921175-544), a 4-point bariatric bar (M921185-544), or the motorized 4-point tilting bar (M921100-544). QRS parts M921865-544, M921855-544, and M921860-544 swap those bars. An optional hanging scale (M921180) is listed to 1000 lb, so it does not cover a 1200 lb lift. Use slings Savaria rates for the bar and for the person's weight, and never exceed the lowest SWL of the motor, track, bar, or sling.

Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Confirm the sling's own safe working load before you pair it with an 800, 1000, or 1200 lb motor. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead bar.

Savaria's owner's manual says the cabin should run on a Savaria track, or on another track that a competent authority has checked for fit, function, and safety. The rail must be rated at or above the motor. A Savaria track bridge is published in a 1200 lb version. The published Savaria track turntable is 600 lb only, so do not plan a crossing-rail turntable for this cabin from that part. If 600 lb is the real need, stay with the Savaria M-Series lithium-ion ceiling lift.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Savaria M-Series Bariatric warranty

Savaria prints a 3-year warranty on all components, including the battery, on the current M-Series Bariatric card. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does funding cover a ceiling lift in Ontario?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts. Other routes can help when the person and the assessment fit, including ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship programs. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.

What is the safe working load of the M-Series Bariatric?

Savaria offers this cabin in 800 lb, 1000 lb, and 1200 lb. The installed system is limited by the lowest rating among the motor, track, carry bar, and sling. Ask us which motor is on your quote before you plan around 1200 lb.

How is this different from the Savaria M-Series already on the site?

The listing at Savaria M-Series lithium-ion is the Essential / Clinical family: 286, 440, or 600 lb, in a 17 to 19 lb case. This Bariatric cabin is a larger dual-motor case at 23.5 kg (51.8 lb) with 800, 1000, or 1200 lb, powered rotation, and a 4-hour charge. They are not the same motor.

Does one cabin really lift 1200 lb?

Yes. Savaria puts two synchronized motors in this single cabin so the install does not need a two-cassette tandem rail for that load. The track, bar, and sling still have to meet or beat 1200 lb.

What slings fit the M-Series Bariatric?

Loop slings on a 2-point or 4-point bariatric bar, including the optional motorized tilting bar. QRS swaps bars. Use a sling Savaria rates for that bar and for the person's weight. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead motor, and do not use a 600 lb sling on an 800 to 1200 lb lift.

Does the quote include the ceiling track?

No. This listing is quote-only for the cabin you pick. Track, carry bar, and slings are planned with the room and must be rated for the same load. Ask us for a layout before we book the install date.

What happens if the power goes out?

Savaria names 3-Down on this cabin: powered emergency lowering, powered emergency raising, and a reset from the floor. Keep the packs charged. Those features are for getting a person down safely, not for everyday use on an empty battery.

Can I rent a lift before I buy this cabin?

Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.

How fast can a purchased M-Series Bariatric be set up in the GTA?

Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased install.

What is the warranty on the M-Series Bariatric?

Savaria prints 3 years on all components, including the battery. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
