Description
The HealthCraft Advantage Rail is HealthCraft's floor-mounted grab pole with a 17 in (432 mm) pivoting rail, made in Ottawa, Ontario. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes across the Greater Toronto Area. HealthCraft treats the Advantage Rail as the floor-installed version of the SuperBar when a ceiling will not take a SuperPole.
Use Choose Model for the 300 lb Advantage Rail (AR-T) or the 450 lb Advantage Rail (AR-T-HD). This is the rail-and-mast, not the pole-only Advantage Pole. The pole-only sibling is the HealthCraft Advantage Pole bariatric.
Who this Advantage Rail is for
The HealthCraft Advantage Rail is for a person who wants a short floor-mounted mast plus a 17 in pivot rail, stays at or under the HealthCraft rating on the model they pick (300 lb / 136 kg on AR-T, 450 lb / 204 kg on AR-T-HD), and has a structurally sound floor HealthCraft will accept. Families here usually call when the ceiling is too high, too low, radiant, or unknown for a SuperPole.
- AR-T 300 lb (136 kg) or AR-T-HD 450 lb (204 kg)
- 17 in (432 mm) support arm, eight locks at 45 degrees
- Rail height 30-38 in (762-965 mm) from the floor
Fit and the pivot rail
HealthCraft prints a 1.50 in (38 mm) rail and a 17 in (432 mm) support arm. The rail height range is 30-38 in (762-965 mm) from the floor. Eight locking positions, one every 45 degrees. Lift to move the rail. Lower it to lock.
Finish is anti-microbial white powder coat on alloy steel. HealthCraft prints a limited lifetime warranty and says the product is not intended for outdoor use. The bariatric Advantage Rail uses stronger materials, thicker tubing, and gusseting.
HealthCraft's load rating is dependent on model. HealthCraft also prints that the Advantage Rail is not intended to support full body weight. Stay at or under the rating on the model you order.
Installation, as HealthCraft prints it
The Advantage Rail mast is fastened to the floor. It is not a tension SuperPole. HealthCraft: the mast must be installed to floors that are structurally sound. Ideal if it can be aligned and secured directly to a floor joist. If the location does not have adequate structure, add wood blocking. Do not install if the structure is unknown.
HealthCraft's supplied fasteners are for wood structure only, with a minimum 2 in (51 mm) of thread engagement. Concrete needs methods and fasteners HealthCraft does not include. HealthCraft names a 5/16 in sleeve or wedge type anchor as an example. If you use other fasteners, HealthCraft wants a retention force of at least 600 lb (272 kg), or 800 lb (360 kg) on HD. Follow the HealthCraft instruction sheet in the carton. We follow that sheet when we install the rail. If you are not equipped to do that work, HealthCraft recommends a qualified contractor.
HealthCraft prints that the Advantage Rail can sit on tile or carpet when the floor under it is structurally sound. HealthCraft also prints that the Advantage Rail cannot go in the shower. It is carbon steel. The powder coat is water resistant, not waterproof, and could rust.

Advantage Rail, Advantage Pole, or SuperPole
This page is the Advantage Rail: mast plus 17 in pivot rail. The HealthCraft Advantage Pole bariatric is the floor-mounted pole without that rail. The HealthCraft SuperPole with SuperBar is the ceiling-tension version of the same idea when the ceiling will take it. A wall flip-up toilet rail is the HealthCraft P.T. Rail.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
