Description
The HealthCraft Advantage Pole bariatric is HealthCraft's floor-mounted grab pole without a pivot rail, made in Ottawa, Ontario. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes across the Greater Toronto Area. HealthCraft treats the Advantage Pole as the floor-installed version of the SuperPole when a ceiling will not take a SuperPole.
The stored SKU is AR-AP-HD. HealthCraft rates this pole at 450 lb (204 kg). This is the pole only. If you want the 17 in pivot rail on a floor mast, use the HealthCraft Advantage Rail.
Who this Advantage Pole is for
The HealthCraft Advantage Pole bariatric is for a person who wants a short floor-mounted pole they can hold on the vertical grip, stays at or under HealthCraft's 450 lb (204 kg) rating, and has a structurally sound floor HealthCraft will accept. Families here usually call when the ceiling is too high, too low, radiant, or unknown for a SuperPole, and they do not need the pivoting Advantage Rail.
- AR-AP-HD, 450 lb (204 kg) Advantage Pole
- Floor-mounted mast, no SuperBar, no 17 in Advantage Rail
- Needs a structurally sound floor, not a ceiling
Fit and what this pole is not
HealthCraft prints a 1.50 in (38 mm) alloy-steel pole with an anti-microbial white powder coat. The Advantage Pole is the vertical mast. It does not include HealthCraft's 17 in pivot rail. Older copy that mentions pivot-and-lock or extra portable floor plates is describing Advantage Rail or the portable SKUs, not AR-AP-HD.
HealthCraft prints a limited lifetime warranty and says the product is not intended for outdoor use. HealthCraft also prints that the Advantage Pole is intended for moderate vertical and horizontal load, and that it is not intended to support full body weight. Stay at or under 450 lb (204 kg).
HealthCraft prints that the Advantage family cannot go in the shower. It is carbon steel. The powder coat is water resistant, not waterproof, and could rust.
Installation, as HealthCraft prints it
The Advantage Pole mast is fastened to the floor. It is not a tension SuperPole. HealthCraft: the mast must be installed to floors that are structurally sound. Ideal if it can be aligned and secured directly to a floor joist. If the location does not have adequate structure, add wood blocking. Do not install if the structure is unknown.
HealthCraft's supplied fasteners are for wood structure only, with a minimum 2 in (51 mm) of thread engagement. Concrete needs methods and fasteners HealthCraft does not include. HealthCraft names a 5/16 in sleeve or wedge type anchor as an example. If you use other fasteners, HealthCraft wants a retention force of at least 800 lb (360 kg) on HD. Follow the HealthCraft instruction sheet in the carton. We follow that sheet when we install the pole. If you are not equipped to do that work, HealthCraft recommends a qualified contractor.

Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
