Description
The Golden Nipigon PL-340 is a Canadian-exclusive three-position lift chair with heat and vibrating massage built in as standard, not as an upcharge. A plush seamed back you genuinely sink into, a supportive chaise pad over a pocketed coil seat, easy-grip armrests, and a two-motor heat and massage system run from the same two-button hand control. 375 lb capacity, one Medium size, made in North America, and it needs only 17 inches of wall clearance reclined, the tightest in our lift chair range. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the GTA.
Golden builds the Nipigon for Canada and names it for the northern Ontario lake; it is sold through Golden Technologies of Canada dealers, and Westin is yours.
Who this lift chair is for
The Nipigon is for the buyer who wants the therapy features without the flagship price or the flagship complexity: the person whose back and shoulders ache at the end of every day, who would pay for heat and massage on any chair anyway, and who still wants the whole thing to run on two buttons. Because the heat and massage are standard, the decision is simply fabric and delivery date.
It is also the small-room answer: 17 inches behind the chair fully reclined means it fits where other lift chairs cannot, in a den, a bedroom corner or an apartment living room. If the person using it needs a flat sleep position or independent back and leg control, that is the MaxiComfort tier: the MaxiComforter and Relaxer pages explain it. Over 375 lbs, the Comforter Wide is the honest answer.
Heat and massage as standard equipment
On most lift chairs, heat and vibrating massage is a factory option with a cost and a wait. On the Nipigon the two-motor heat and massage system is part of the chair: the massage motors carry a genuine vibration through the back, the heat warms the lumbar where it is wanted, and both run from the hand control without a second remote to lose. Combined with the plush seam back and the coil seat, that makes the Nipigon the relaxation pick of the three-position tier.
The rest of the build is Golden-standard: the 1-zone Comfort Zone system moves seat and back together through lift, sit and recline; the chaise pad means no gap between seat and footrest; the easy-grip armrests give a firm push-off surface; and headrest and arm covers are included to protect the fabric where hands and heads land hardest.
Size and wall space
One size, Medium, tuned to Canadian living rooms: seat 21 inches between the arms and 21 deep, floor to seat 19 inches, seat-to-top-of-back 28 inches. Fully reclined the chair needs only 17 inches behind it, so measure the wall gap you actually have and this chair will very likely fit it. The 19 inch seat height suits users from about 5'2" to 5'10"; the 28 inch back supports to about 6'0" with the headrest cover in place.

Fabric options
Five Canadian-market fabrics, no crossover upcharges: Bourbon and Smoke (the two most-ordered micro suedes, both shown in our gallery), Wicker (the woven texture, same family as the Holmes), Granite, and Chestnut Vinyl for the households where spills and cleaning drive the choice. The micro suede fabrics are soft to the hand and quiet, which matters in a chair you sit in for hours.
Three-position or MaxiComfort: where the Nipigon sits
The Nipigon is a three-position chair with therapy built in: lift, sit, recline, plus heat and massage on demand. It does not flatten to sleep and the back and legs do not move independently; those are the MaxiComfort chairs, like the MaxiComforter and Cloud. For most buyers the honest trade is this: the Nipigon delivers the daily relaxation features at a three-position price, and if sleep-position matters more than massage, step up to MaxiComfort.
Funding help for a lift chair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund lift chairs, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs, and a lift chair's lift mechanism may qualify as a medical expense on a Canadian tax return when prescribed. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Setup means the chair arrives assembled on its frame, is placed where you want it, the back is locked on, and our specialist walks the hand control and safety checks with you before leaving. Service and warranty
Golden guarantees the chair frame, lift frame and recline mechanism for life, electrical parts for 3 years (pro-rated through year 7), mechanical labour for 3 years and electrical labour for 1 year, with fabric and foam covered for 1 year. Warranty service runs through Westin's own service and repairs department: our technicians diagnose on the phone, come to the home across our delivery area, and SmartTek's diagnostic codes mean we usually arrive with the right part. Call (905) 451-7743 and the chair you bought from us stays our problem, not yours.
Frequently asked questions
What size lift chair do I need?
The Nipigon is one Medium size: a 21 inch seat between the arms, 21 inch seat depth, 19 inch seat height and a 28 inch back. That fits most users from about 5'2" to 5'10" comfortably. Different proportions take you to the two-size Cambridge or the roomier Holmes.
How far from the wall does the Nipigon need to be?
17 inches fully reclined, the tightest clearance of any lift chair we carry. That is the number that lets it live in small rooms.
Is heat and massage really included?
Yes. The two-motor heat and massage system is standard equipment on the Nipigon, controlled from the same two-button hand control. There is no option fee and no extra lead time.
What is the difference between a 3 position and an infinite position lift chair?
Three-position chairs like the Nipigon move seat and back together and stop at recline, with lift and sit in between. Infinite-position (MaxiComfort) chairs drive back and legs independently and reach a flat sleep position. The Nipigon adds heat and massage to the simpler tier.
What is the weight capacity of the Nipigon?
375 lbs (170 kg). Above that, the Comforter Wide carries 500 and 600 lbs.
What fabrics can I choose?
Bourbon, Smoke, Wicker, Granite and Chestnut Vinyl, all Canadian-market selections with no crossover upcharge on this model. Bourbon and Smoke are shown in our photos.
Is this model available outside Canada?
The Nipigon is a Canadian-exclusive model from Golden Technologies of Canada, sold through Canadian dealers. It is not the US catalogue's line, which is why you will not find it on US retailer sites.
Can funding help with a lift chair in Ontario?
ADP does not fund lift chairs. March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs, extended health plans and the medical-expense tax route are the ones that help; our funding page has the detail.
What is the warranty on the Golden Nipigon?
The chair frame is guaranteed for life, with electrical parts and fabric and foam covered for one year, the Canadian warranty schedule for this model.
