The Savaria Stretcher Sling is a full-body mesh sling for a transfer while the person stays on their back. Silvalea, a Savaria division, makes it. Savaria Patient Care lists it as M921540. Westin Healthcare quotes it and fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area on a loop carry bar.
This is not the Medcare Stretcher Sling. Medcare is a different polyester leave-under sheet with an 8-point hook-up. This page is the Silvalea mesh stretcher with removable boards, a soft neck roll, and a waist support. It is also not a seated Universal sling. If the person sits for the transfer, start with the Handicare Universal Sling.
Who this sling is for
This sling is for a person who needs to stay supine for a full-body lift, when a seated sling would flex the hips or trunk more than the care plan allows. It is used in acute care and long-term care. It is not a sit-to-stand sling and it is not a hygiene sling with a commode opening.

What you get
You get the mesh stretcher body in the size on the quote, the removable support boards, the removable adjustable soft neck roll, and the waist support (the instructions also call this the chest strap). It includes an elasticated hinge and 6 fully adjustable positioning tapes. Loop straps only. Slide sheets used to place the sling are not listed as part of the carton; ask us if you need a pair quoted with the sling.
Sizing
Savaria prints hip girth (A) and standing height (B) as the body measures, and sling width (C) and sling length (D) as the fabric measures. Those figures are a guide. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use.

Savaria Stretcher Sling specifications

Safe working load is 600 lb (272 kg) on every size. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the carry bar, and the sling. Fabric is 100% polyester mesh. Wash at a maximum of 95 C (203 F). Tumble dry on low heat, maximum 50 C. Remove the boards before laundry. Close hook-and-loop fastenings. Use a non-biological detergent. Do not iron. Made in the UK.
Attachment and compatible lifts
The Stretcher Sling is a loop sling. Silvalea's instructions say to use it only on a loop-type spreader bar. They draw a two-point hook bar, a four-point bar, twin bars, and a stretcher-frame bar. Do not put these loops on a clip bar, a stud bar, or a Human Care E-clip / mushroom bar. If the bar is an E-clip, see the Human Care Full Body Sling E-clip instead.
On our floor, Handicare loop carry-bar hooks sit on the Handicare C450, the Handicare C625, and the Handicare A450, and on the two-point SlingBar of the Handicare Carina 350. Confirm the bar type before the first lift. A 450 lb motor limits the system to 450 lb even though the sling is 600 lb. A Carina 350 limits the system to 350 lb.
Shop the family in full-body slings and specialty slings. For a seated loop sling, stay with the Universal.
Care and laundering
Remove the boards before you wash the sling. Close every hook-and-loop fastening. Follow the label: maximum wash 95 C (203 F), tumble dry low heat to a maximum of 50 C, non-biological detergent, do not iron. Inspect loops, tapes, mesh, and the label after every wash. Take the sling out of service if anything is worn or the label cannot be read.

Does it fit a C450 or A450?
Those Handicare motors use loop carry-bar hooks, which is the attachment class this sling is built for. Confirm the bar on your motor and stay inside the lowest working load. A 450 lb motor is the limit on those two lifts.
How do I wash it?
Take the boards out first. Close hook-and-loop. Wash at a maximum of 95 C (203 F) with a non-biological detergent. Tumble dry low, maximum 50 C. Do not iron. Follow the label on the sling you receive.
Does the neck roll stay on for every lift?
The neck roll is supplied and is removable. The instructions say to insert it for extra comfort when it is required. We will walk through the first application with you.
Can one caregiver put it on?
The instruction pictures show two caregivers feeding the sling under the person with slide sheets. We will not promise that one person is always enough.
Does funding cover a sling in Ontario?
