Description
The Span America Gooseneck Pendant Holder, Side Rail Mount (manufacturer code Q6414LP) gives the bed hand pendant a home on the side rail, on a bendable arm that stays where you put it. Savaria's 2026 range describes it as a gooseneck pendant holder, rail mounted, for RAD306H rails. Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
A pendant with nowhere to live ends up on the floor, under the mattress, or wound around a rail. None of those is where a resident can find it at two in the morning.
Why the mount is the whole decision
Span builds the same idea in several shapes, and the only thing that separates them is where the holder attaches. Order the wrong shape and the part is useless on arrival, because a board clamp does not fit a rail and a rail clamp does not fit a board.
| Code | Holder | Mounts to |
|---|---|---|
| Q6414LP | Gooseneck arm | Side rail |
| Q6412LP | Plastic holder | Side rail |
| Q6417LP | Gooseneck arm | Head or foot board |
| Q6416LP | Plastic holder | Head or foot board |
This page is the first row. The two board mounted holders are on our shelf as well: the gooseneck board mount, Q6417LP and the plastic board mount, Q6416LP.
Span also supplies a recessed pendant holder with its rails as standard. That one is included, it holds the pendant flat against the rail, and it is not adjustable. The gooseneck is what you add when the recessed holder puts the pendant somewhere the resident cannot comfortably reach.
Which beds this fits
The 2026 Savaria range keys this holder to a rail, not to a bed: RAD306H, the standard half head end side rail set. RAD306H appears in the item code table of two Span beds, which is why this one code covers both.
| Bed | RAD306H listed | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Span Advantage QD1000 and QD1000Y | Yes, "Standard half head end side rail - set" | Current |
| Span Rexx | Yes, "Standard 1/2 head end side rail - set" | Savaria lists the Rexx under legacy products; parts still supplied |
So the question to answer before ordering is not "which bed do I have" but "which rails are on it". Look at the head end rail: RAD306H is the steel half rail set. If the bed carries molded plastic half rails (RAD308H) or three quarter length collapsible rails (RAD501), call us at (905) 451-7743 before ordering, because Savaria names RAD306H and only RAD306H against this code.
On our shelf the two beds are the Span Advantage Q-Series and the Span Rexx. Rails live on our bed rails page.
A Fast Rexx is not a Rexx
Span gave the Fast Rexx its own pendant holder codes, and they are not interchangeable with the Rexx codes. The side rail gooseneck for a Fast Rexx is Q6591, the plastic side rail holder is Q6584, and the two board mounted versions are Q6590 and Q6589. If the bed rises to 28 inches in about twenty seconds, it is a Fast Rexx and this is not your code. Tell us the model and serial number and we will identify it before anything ships.
The safety reason a holder is not a nicety
Span's own owner manual for the Advantage puts it in a warning box: "Patients with diminished mental awareness should not be allowed access to the pendant, as they may become entangled in the cable. Failure to do so may result in injury or death." A holder is how the pendant and its cable get a defined position on the bed, within reach of the resident who should have it and off the floor for everyone else. Where a facility has decided a resident should not operate the bed, the same manual describes the foot end controller with per function staff lockout, which is a different conversation and a different part.
Living with it
- The gooseneck arm bends and holds. Set it once for the resident and it stays set.
- Clean it the way Span says to clean the bed: warm water and a mild detergent or a diluted disinfectant on a damp cloth. No solvents, alcohol or petroleum products, and no high pressure wash tunnel.
- It is a bed accessory, so the Span warranty term is one year. Labour is not included, and a return needs an RMA number from Span.
- It changes nothing about the bed's rating. The Advantage safe working load stays 500 lb (227 kg) and the Rexx stays 450 lbs (204 kg).
Common questions
Will it fit my Span bed?
If the bed has RAD306H standard half head end side rails, yes. That rail set is listed on both the Advantage QD1000 and the Rexx. If you are not sure which rails are fitted, send us a photograph of the head end rail along with the bed model and serial number and we will tell you.
What is the difference between Q6414LP and Q6417LP?
Only the mount. Q6414LP clamps to the side rail. Q6417LP clamps to the head or foot board. Both use the same bendable gooseneck arm.
My bed already has a pendant holder built into the rail. Do I need this?
Not necessarily. Span supplies a recessed holder with its rails as standard. Add the gooseneck when the recessed position is out of comfortable reach for the resident, or when the pendant keeps ending up off the bed.
Is it sold as a pair?
It is one holder. Savaria's range prints no pair option against this code. If you want one on each side, that is two lines on the order.
How long is the gooseneck arm?
Savaria does not publish an arm length, clamp range or material for this code, so we will not print a number we cannot stand behind. If a dimension matters for your application, ask us and we will request it from Savaria in writing before you order.
Can I still get parts for a Rexx?
Savaria lists the Rexx under legacy products, and this holder is on the current 2026 range, which is exactly what a service part looks like. Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number and we will confirm availability before you commit.
Ordering and support
Tell us the bed model, the serial number and which rails are fitted, and we will confirm the line before it goes to Savaria. We service and repair the beds we sell across Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto and the wider GTA, and the rest of the range sits under bed accessories, hospital beds and long term care beds. Questions go to our team or (905) 451-7743.
