How do you choose the seat width?

Measure hip to hip at the widest point while the person is seated on a firm surface, then add about one inch. That result is the seat width, not the chair's overall width. Seat sizes and capacity have not been confirmed for this rental, so provide the measurement and the user's needs on the call. Westin Healthcare will confirm whether the available chair is a suitable fit before the booking is completed.

Which power wheelchair will be sent?

The exact configuration is confirmed on the call. We have not confirmed whether the current rental will be a folding transportable chair or a full-size chair, so this page does not promise either one. It also does not state a range, weight, folded size or capacity. Tell us where the chair will be used, how it will be transported, the narrowest doorway and the seat measurement so the available chair can be checked against the job.

Would a manual or caregiver-pushed chair work instead?

A folding manual wheelchair may suit someone who can self-propel or can sometimes be pushed. A transport wheelchair costs less for a short need, but another person must push it at all times. Choose the power rental only after confirming that those manual options do not meet the user's needs and that the available power chair fits the space and transport plan.

What are the confirmed specifications?

Our rental fleet includes different brands in different conditions. The chair supplied will match the function and fit confirmed for the booking rather than necessarily matching the photograph. Every chair is cleaned and safety checked between rentals.

How does the rental work?

The minimum term is one week. The totals are $160 for one week, $210 for two weeks, $250 for three weeks and $285 for four weeks. Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, or you can collect from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton. HST is extra.

We confirm the refundable deposit amount before you commit. It is returned after the chair comes back and passes inspection, normally within about three business days. The agreement extends automatically unless you tell Westin Healthcare otherwise, so call 905 451-7743 before the current term ends to arrange the return or an extension.

Should you rent or buy a power wheelchair?

Four weeks costs $285 before delivery and HST. Renting can make sense for a visitor, a temporary recovery or a short bridge while a long-term assessment is underway. Eligible rental payments can be applied to a new equivalent product bought within 30 days of the rental start. This does not apply to sale or promotional products. A long-term chair still needs to be selected for the person's fit, environment and clinical needs.

What funding help is available in Ontario?

This rental is not funded by ADP. The Assistive Devices Program can fund up to 75 percent of the approved price of a purchased power wheelchair and seating, after an assessment by an ADP-registered authoriser. OHIP does not reimburse a private rental.

If this is for a hospital discharge, ask the social worker about public equipment first or call Ontario Health atHome at 310-2222. A private rental can bridge a short need, but it is not an rental funded through ADP.

How do delivery and setup work?

Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up rental equipment across Brampton and the GTA. Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, while customer collection is available from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton. On the delivery day, the team provides a 2 to 3 hour window. Confirm the seat measurement, access route, charging location and transport plan on the call before delivery is scheduled.
