Who is this tilt-in-space rental for?

This rental is for a temporary need when the person cannot reliably shift position and the care or seating plan calls for the whole seating system to change orientation. It may suit a hospital discharge, a trial before a long-term seating assessment, or a bridge while a purchased chair is being arranged. A tilt chair is specialised equipment, so confirm the intended use with the occupational therapist, physiotherapist or discharge team.

How do you choose the seat width?

Measure hip to hip at the widest point while the person is seated on a firm surface, then add about one inch. That result is the seat width, not the chair's overall width. This rental is available with 16x18, 18x18 and 20x20 inch seats, with two of each size in stock. What is the difference between tilt and recline?

Tilt rotates the seat and back together as one seating system while the hip angle stays fixed. Recline is different because it opens the angle between the seat and the back. This rental is a manual tilt-in-space wheelchair, not a chair being described as recline. If the person can shift position independently and only needs a short mobility aid, a folding or transport wheelchair may be the better match.

What are the confirmed specifications?

Our rental fleet includes different brands in different conditions. The chair supplied will match the booked size and tilt function rather than necessarily matching the photograph. Every chair is cleaned and safety checked between rentals. A model name, tilt range, chair weight and capacity are not stated because they have not been confirmed for the rental fleet.

How does the rental work?

The minimum term is one month. The totals are $160 for one month, $320 for two months and $480 for three months. Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, or you can collect from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton. HST is extra.

We confirm the refundable deposit amount before you commit. It is returned after the chair comes back and passes inspection, normally within about three business days. The agreement extends automatically unless you tell Westin Healthcare otherwise, so call 905 451-7743 before the current term ends to arrange the return or discuss an extension.

Should you rent or buy a tilt-in-space wheelchair?

Three months costs $480 before delivery and HST. Renting can make sense for a temporary recovery, an immediate discharge need or a trial while longer-term seating is assessed. Eligible rental payments can be applied to a new equivalent product bought within 30 days of the rental start. This does not apply to sale or promotional products. The purchased chair must still be prescribed and fitted for the person rather than selected only because it resembles the rental.

What funding help is available in Ontario?

This rental is not funded by ADP. The Assistive Devices Program can fund up to 75 percent of the approved price of a purchased wheelchair and seating, after an assessment by an ADP-registered authoriser. OHIP does not reimburse a private rental.

If this is for a hospital discharge, ask the social worker about public equipment first or call Ontario Health atHome at 310-2222. A private rental may bridge the wait for an assessment, but it does not become an rental funded through ADP.

How do delivery and setup work?

Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up rental equipment across Brampton and the GTA. Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, while customer collection is available from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton. On the delivery day, the team provides a 2 to 3 hour window. Share the seat measurement, care plan and any steps, narrow doors or building access rules before the visit.
