Description
The JAY J2 Plus cushion is Sunrise Medical's historic 3.5 inch (8.9 cm) bariatric foam and JAY Flow fluid wheelchair cushion, rated at 650 lbs (295 kg), with widths from 20 to 26 inches (51 to 66 cm) and depths from 18 to 22 inches (46 to 56 cm). Sunrise Medical's current US and Canada cards both print that this product is no longer available to order.
If you already use a J2 Plus, we can still talk through covers, leftover stock, and a current path. The current JAY fluid skin-protection cushion is the JAY Fusion with Cryo or Union. Fusion's wide rating stops at 500 lbs (227 kg). There is no current JAY 650 lb cushion on the live maker lists.
Who this cushion is for
The JAY J2 Plus cushion was written for a larger person who needed a JAY Flow well or a layered foam kit in a 20 to 26 inch seat. The owner's manual describes users up to 650 lbs at low to high risk for skin breakdown. A seating therapist should confirm any leftover J2 Plus against a current Fusion or another bariatric cushion before you replace it.
- 3.5 inch (8.9 cm) pre-contoured closed-cell base
- JAY Flow fluid tripad or Visco foam kit
- 650 lb (295 kg) historic rating
Base, inserts, and covers
The JAY J2 Plus cushion uses a pre-contoured structural foam base with an anterior slope and medial thigh supports. Sunrise offered a JAY Flow fluid tripad or a stacked Visco foam kit. Covers were AirExchange or Low Shear / moisture-resistant. Use Cover Type and Insert Type for those historic choices if stock remains.

Which JAY wheelchair cushion fits
The JAY J2 Plus cushion is the retired 650 lb J2. Do not treat it as a current Sunrise order. The JAY Fusion with Cryo is the current fluid skin-protection JAY, to 500 lbs on the 22 inch Cryo card. The JAY J2 Standard and JAY J2 Deep Contour are the current J2 wells, to 500 lbs on 22 to 24 inch widths. The JAY Union Cushion is foam plus JAY Flow to 500 lbs on 22 to 24 inch widths.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Cushion Do I Need?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion was ordered in 20 to 26 inch widths and 18 to 22 inch depths. A seating therapist measures hip width in sitting. Confirm that a J2 Plus is still on hand before you size one.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, And Air Cushions?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion used a JAY Flow fluid tripad or a Visco foam kit. Sunrise's own FAQ says JAY fluid is not gel. Current Fusion can take fluid, CryoFluid, or an air insert.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the person. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Is The JAY J2 Plus Still Made?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion is not a current Sunrise order. The US and Canada cards print that it is no longer available to order. Ask us about leftover stock and about Fusion or a current J2.
What Replaces The JAY J2 Plus?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion has no 650 lb JAY successor on the live maker lists. The current JAY fluid skin-protection cushion is Fusion, rated to 500 lbs on the wide sizes. A seating therapist should set the replacement path.
What Is The Weight Limit For The JAY J2 Plus?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion was rated at 650 lbs (295 kg) on the retired Sunrise card and in the owner's manual.
How Long Is The JAY J2 Plus Warranty?
The JAY J2 Plus cushion carries 24 months from purchase in the owner's manual, for the original purchaser. The cover sits outside that paragraph.
Can I See A JAY Cushion In Brampton?
