Description
The Hoyer Presence is Joerns' 500 lb aluminum floor lift with a powered base and Smart Monitor. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes and care settings in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Joerns prints a safe working load of 500 lb (227 kg) on the current Presence spec sheet.
Joerns designed the Presence for floor pickups and for transfers onto higher surfaces. The scale is an option. The Canadian list sells that option as a kit with a 6-point cradle (HOY-PRESENCEWSC-S). A Hoyer sling is sold separately.
Who this lift is for
This lift is for a person who needs a full-body transfer inside 500 lb, when a powered base and a long lifting range matter more than a fold. Families usually call us when the Advance's 341 lb rating is too low and they still want a HoyerPro aluminum frame rather than a 700 lb bariatric chassis.
If the lift has to fold into a car, start with the Hoyer Advance. If you need clip slings and a true vertical mast, see the Hoyer Stature. If the person can bear some weight, a sit-to-stand lift is a different product.
- Full-body transfers at or under 500 lb
- Powered legs, so the caregiver does not stoop to open the base
- Floor pickup and higher-surface transfers, which Joerns lists on this model
Powered base, Smart Monitor, and scale
Joerns' Presence spec sheet lists powered leg adjustment as standard. The caregiver opens and closes the legs from the handset.
Smart Monitor stores lift-cycle counts, overload events, and a service reminder. The digital scale on the kit configuration is NAWI Class III on that sheet.

Slings and cradles
Joerns fits the Presence with interchangeable cradles: a 6-point loop spreader bar or a 4-point clip positioning cradle, manual or powered. Use a Hoyer sling that matches the cradle you order. Joerns writes that Hoyer slings and lifters are not interchangeable with other makers. The sling is sold separately. Start at our full-body slings.
How to buy, delivery and setup
The price is the lift. HST is extra. A Hoyer sling is sold separately unless the configuration you pick is a kit that names a cradle or scale. Westin's own team delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the controls and the emergency functions before we leave.
You are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service. Purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Floor and stand-aid lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund patient lifts, slings, or other lifting devices. ADP funds, on purchase only, at 75% of the approved price: manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating, and wheeled walkers for adults. OHIP does not reimburse these purchases.
Routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: Ontario Health atHome (call 310-2222), March of Dimes Canada for low-income applicants, ODSP, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and hardship programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 before you buy.
Warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
