Hoyer Long Seat Commode Sling

The Hoyer Long Seat Commode is Joerns' hammock-style loop sling with a hygiene opening. Westin Healthcare sells it in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Joerns prints a 500 lb / 227 kg safe working load on every size. Attachment is loop, for a six-point Hoyer bar. This is the commode model. It is not the solid Long Seat without an opening.

Joerns designed the Long Seat for amputees and also for other patients a clinician names for this shape. It is traditionally fitted from a recumbent position. Side suspenders are an optional accessory and make a more comfortable transfer. It may be necessary to support the head while the person is suspended.

Who this sling is for

This sling is for a person whose clinician named a Hoyer Long Seat with a commode opening, who stays at or under 500 lb, and who is being transferred on a Hoyer six-point loop bar. Families usually call us when a hammock seat is needed and clothing has to come off during the lift.

If you need the same hammock without an opening, that is the solid Long Seat, which is a different Joerns row. If the person can sit and only needs a toileting aperture, start with the Hoyer Access.

Sizing and fit

Joerns colour-codes the binding: Extra Small brown, Small red, Medium yellow, Large green, Extra Large blue. The Hoyer Family Brochure (p.25) prints recommended weight bands as a guide only. Extra Small 35-100 lb. Small 75-150 lb. Medium 125-200 lb. Large 175-350 lb. Extra Large 275-500 lb. A risk assessment decides the size. Confirm with a clinician or our staff before the first use.

This Canadian list sells Small, Medium, and Large in polyester and in net. Extra Small and Extra Large sit on the Joerns SWL table and are not variants we show here. Ask us if a clinician names those sizes.

Attachment and compatible lifts

This is a loop sling for a six-point Hoyer bar. Joerns: Hoyer slings and lifters are not interchangeable with other makers. Passive lifts only.

Westin lift this sling is sold to match:

• Hoyer Advance Electric, six-point loop bar, 341 lb. The lift limit wins.

Do not hang it on a Drive Levantar or Gravis. Do not hang it on a four-point clip cradle.

How to buy, delivery and setup

The price is the sling you pick. HST is extra. Westin Healthcare ships this sling across Brampton and the GTA, or you can pick it up at our Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive. If you buy it with a lift we already sold you, we bring the sling in, fit the loops or clips, and show you the attachment before we leave.

You are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom if you would rather see a sling first. For a scheduled visit, call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service when a lift and sling go out together. Purchased slings ship on a scheduled date.

This sling is a smaller good. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer can apply when the sling ships on its own. If it travels with an oversized lift, ask us for a freight quote. Funding help in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund slings. ADP funds, on purchase only, at 75% of the approved price: manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating, and wheeled walkers for adults. OHIP does not reimburse this purchase. Care and warranty

Joerns: machine wash warm, do not exceed 185 F / 85 C. Do not wash with bleach. Cool tumble dry, air dry, or dry at very low temperature. Do not dry clean. Inspect before every use. Destroy and discard worn slings.

Joerns' 2025 Hoyer sling warranty covers Pro slings for 12 months from purchase by the original owner. We handle the claim with you. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
