This is the two-layer Bronze. It is not the three-layer Silver, and it is not the foam-and-gel Hybrid or Platinum.

Who this cushion is for

The Geo-Matrix Bronze cushion is a gel wheelchair cushion Blake Medical indicates for active people whose skin protection is secondary to comfort and vibration control. Blake says the person should have some mobility and postural control and should be able to reposition. Blake also lists lift chairs, transfer chairs, and transport in a car or airplane as common Bronze uses. The Bronze is rated 200 lb (91 kg).

Fit and size

A wheelchair cushion should match the seat, not a clothing size. Measure the seat width and seat depth. Blake's All-Gel manual says the cushion width should match the seat, may sit up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) wider against the arm supports, and the depth may run about 1 inch past the seat. The Blake logo faces the front left.

Use Choose Width and Choose Depth for the seat size. Blake's standard Bronze sizes run 16 by 16 through 22 by 20 inches (41 by 41 through 56 by 51 cm). The product code is GB then width and depth, for example GB1818. Custom dimensions are available from Blake.

All-gel build and care

The Geo-Matrix Bronze is a two-layer gel wheelchair cushion. There is no foam core. The gel is a dry-polymer solid. It does not inflate and it does not leak like a fluid pouch.

Each cushion ships with a soft-touch outer incontinence-proof cover and an inner wipeable moisture-proof cover. Both covers machine wash to 60 C. Do not wring them. Lay them flat to dry. Do not use bleach. Unbonded gel sheets can go in a front-load washer, one sheet, liquid detergent, no agitator. Air-dry the gel out of direct sun.
