Description

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX scooter is a full-size 4-wheel heavy duty mobility scooter from Eclipse Medical of Delta, British Columbia. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Eclipse Medical is the Canadian distributor. The Interceptor S940GTX is an Eclipse-branded Shoprider-family chassis. Eclipse's current card rates it at 450 lbs (204 kg), 15 km/h (9.5 mph), and 40 km (25 miles) per charge on batteries that fit 75 to 100 Ah. Those batteries are not included.

Who this scooter is for

This scooter is for a person who wants a full-size 4-wheel for outdoor neighbourhood and path use, and who fits a 450 lb rating and a 29 inch wide, 61 inch long chassis. Families usually call us when a mid-size scooter such as the Fortress 1700-DT feels short on tire, speed, or capacity.

If 400 lbs, 12 inch tires, and a 50 km printed range are enough, start with the Eclipse Bigfoot S846. If you want a mid-size 4-wheel instead of a full-size, see the Fortress 1700-DT 4-wheel scooter. The Interceptor is not a folding travel scooter.

  • Full-size 4-wheel for outdoor streets and paths
  • 450 lb (204 kg) rating, 14 inch front and 16 inch rear tires
  • 3 HP four-pole motor and P&G 140 amp S-Drive

Range, speed, and batteries

Eclipse Medical prints a top speed of 15 km/h (9.5 mph) and a driving distance of 40 km (25 miles). The card does not state a rider-weight or terrain condition for that distance, so treat 40 km as the maker's published figure, not a promise for every day.

The chassis fits 75 to 100 Ah batteries. Batteries are not included. Use Choose Batteries for a Group 24 75 Ah pair or a Group 27 96 Ah pair. Eclipse does not print a charge time on the public card. Charge with the charger that ships for the pack you pick, and ask us if you are unsure. Keep the batteries charged. Do not invent a winter capacity number that Eclipse did not print.

Portability and transport

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is a full-size scooter. Eclipse lists 363 lbs (165 kg) with batteries. That is not a car-trunk or airline product. Westin delivers it and shows you the tiller and charger in the home. If you later move it, use a van or trailer and proper tie-downs. Do not plan to lift it into a hatchback.

Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX specifications

These figures are for the Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX as printed on Eclipse Medical's current Canadian card and 2023 brochure. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Weight capacity 450 lbs (204 kg). Overall size 61 inches long, 29 inches wide, 47 inches high. Total weight with batteries 363 lbs (165 kg). Motor 3 HP four-pole with a P&G 140 amp S-Drive. Top speed 15 km/h (9.5 mph). Battery bay fits 75 to 100 Ah. Tires front 14 inches, rear 16 inches. Driving distance 40 km (25 miles). Turning radius 71 inches (180 cm). Safe climb 10 degrees (16 percent). Colours red, blue, or silver.

The card also lists a digital LCD dashboard (speedometer, odometer, temperature, time, battery), an LED lighting package (dual head, tail, signal, hazard, brake), a delta tiller with two mirrors, and an extra-large glove box.

Color and Choose Batteries

Use Color to pick Silver, Red, or Blue. Use Choose Batteries to add a 75 Ah pair or a 96 Ah pair. Eclipse's card says the scooter fits 75 to 100 Ah and that batteries are not included. Front 14 inch and rear 16 inch tires ship as a pair. They are not a size choice.

Interceptor or Bigfoot

The Interceptor S940GTX is the heavier, faster-tire Eclipse: 450 lb, 14/16 inch tires, 3 HP, 40 km printed range, 363 lb with batteries. The Eclipse Bigfoot S846 is the 400 lb Trailmaster 4-wheel with 12 inch tires, 2.3 HP, a 50 km printed range, and 286 lb with its 75 Ah pack. Choose the Interceptor if capacity and tire size come first. Choose the Bigfoot if you want the slightly shorter, lighter full-size. For a mid-size 4-wheel, see the Fortress 1700-DT.

Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up the Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the tiller, charger, and freewheel before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a full-size 4-wheel first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased scooters are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This mobility scooter is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the scooter is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Eclipse Medical warranty

Eclipse Medical does not print a warranty term on the Interceptor S940GTX spec card. The company says the term lives in the instruction manual that ships with the scooter. Ask us for that card. We handle the claim with you. Batteries wear with use and follow the battery maker's terms.

Frequently asked questions

How far can a mobility scooter go?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is printed at 40 km (25 miles) on Eclipse Medical's current card. The card does not state a rider-weight condition. Hills, cold, and a tired 75 Ah pack will shorten that figure.

Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is not an airline scooter. Eclipse lists 363 lbs (165 kg) with batteries and a 61 by 29 inch chassis. It does not fold, and it uses large lead-acid batteries, not a cabin lithium pack.

Does ADP cover scooters?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help fund a power scooter after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Eclipse Medical does not print an ADP device code on the Interceptor card. Eligibility is personal. Talk to us before you buy. The funding section above is the starting point.

Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?

Eclipse Medical's public Interceptor card does not print a rain rating. Treat the S940GTX as a full-size outdoor scooter, store it dry, and do not spray the electronics. Ask us if you need a cover.

Do mobility scooters work in winter?

Eclipse Medical does not print a winter capacity figure for the Interceptor S940GTX. Cold shortens lead-acid range on any scooter. Keep the Interceptor off ice and road salt unless you have asked us about local use.

What is the weight limit for a mobility scooter?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is rated at 450 lbs (204 kg). Stay at or under that figure.

How wide is a mobility scooter?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is 29 inches wide, 61 inches long, and 47 inches high. Measure doorways, lifts, and ramps against those numbers. The turning radius is 71 inches (180 cm).

How much does a mobility scooter weigh?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX weighs 363 lbs (165 kg) with batteries on Eclipse Medical's card. That is the only official weight. The card does not print a without-battery figure or a heaviest-piece figure.

How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?

Eclipse Medical does not print a charge time for the Interceptor S940GTX. Charge time depends on the 75 to 100 Ah pair you fit. Ask us when you pick Choose Batteries.

Is the Eclipse Interceptor a Shoprider?

The Eclipse Interceptor S940GTX is sold in Canada by Eclipse Medical as an Eclipse-branded model. The same S940GTX chassis appears in Shoprider dealer channels. Eclipse Medical in Delta, BC is the Canadian distributor, not a factory in Ontario.
