Description
The Axiom PB back is Ki Mobility's posterior wheelchair back support for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Ki forms the aluminum shell to a 2.25 inch (57 mm) lateral profile and includes an adjustable lumbar pad. Widths run 12 to 22 inches (30.5 to 55.9 cm). This is a quote-only custom back, built after a seating assessment.
Ki writes the Posterior Back for people who need a stable torso position and still want freedom of movement for daily activity. Heights are Low and Mid only. A seating therapist and an ADP authorizer choose the shell and the DEX, BTX, or FXT mount with Westin before anything is ordered.
Who this back is for
The Axiom PB back fits a person whose therapist wants the shallowest standard Axiom contour plus a lumbar pad. Stay here when 2.25 inches of laterals is enough. A seating therapist should confirm PB versus the 3.65 inch Axiom PL Back or the Axiom LB Back before you order.
- 2.25 in laterals with an adjustable lumbar pad
- Low and Mid heights (no Tall)
- 300 lb (136 kg) with DEX or FXT, 400 lb (181 kg) with BTX
Contour, height, and hardware
Ki prints the Posterior Back at a 2.25 inch curve. The live spec table rounds that to 2.3 inches (5.7 cm). An adjustable lumbar pad is included. Height bands on the card are Low at 8 to 12 inches and Mid at 14 to 18 inches. There is no Tall Posterior Back. Widths are 12 to 22 inches. Hardware can cover plus or minus 2 inches from the chair width. Height, width, and depth adjust on the hardware (3.3 in, 2 in, and 1.5 in) with 20 degrees of angle. Foam thickness is 1.3 inches. The cover is a Nylon-Spandex blend with a waterproof elastic membrane. With DEX hardware, Ki's technical manual lists the assembled Posterior Back at 3.00 to 6.00 lb (1.4 to 2.7 kg).
DEX uses auto-resetting release levers. Ki's technical manual sizes DEX clamp fasteners for 3/4, 7/8, 1, and 1-1/8 inch back canes. BTX is the heavier, one-handed mount with a safety lockout pin, rated at 400 lb, using the 1 inch locking clamp. FXT is the lightest, fixed mount, with 5 degrees of built-in angle, and the same cane fastener key as DEX. We do not invent a hardware picker. A seating therapist names the mount after measuring the chair canes.
Axiom PB Back specifications
These figures are from Ki Mobility's current Axiom Backs card, the DCN0475.3 brochure, and the Axiom Back owner's manual. The specification tab holds the stored values. We do not invent a height or width picker on this page.
Width 12 to 22 inches (30.5 to 55.9 cm). Heights Low 8 to 12 inches and Mid 14 to 18 inches. No Tall. Lateral contour 2.25 inches (spec table 2.3 in / 5.7 cm) with an adjustable lumbar pad. Shell: bend-formed aluminum. Assembled weight with DEX 3.00 to 6.00 lb (1.4 to 2.7 kg). Weight capacity 300 lbs (136 kg) with DEX or FXT hardware and 400 lbs (181 kg) with BTX.
The Axiom Back owner's manual prints 24 months on the shell and foam and 6 months on removable covers for the original purchaser in North America. Expected frame life is five years. Punctures, tears, and burns sit outside that term.
How a PB is ordered
A seating therapist measures torso height, trunk width, and whether a 2.25 inch contour with a lumbar pad is the right starting point. Westin maps that to a Low or Mid shell, a 12 to 22 inch width, and DEX, BTX, or FXT hardware that matches the chair canes. That work happens in a fitting, not on a product page.
Which Axiom wheelchair back fits
The Axiom PB back is the 2.25 inch posterior shell with a lumbar pad. The Axiom PL Back adds more laterals at 3.65 inches and keeps the lumbar pad. The Axiom LB Back uses that same 3.65 inch curve without a lumbar pad. The Axiom DL Back is the 6.0 inch deep-lateral shell. Unique shapes go to the Axiom Custom Back. The kids set is the Axiom PXPL, Axiom PXAL, and Axiom PXALCL. Pair an adult Axiom back with a current Axiom cushion such as the Axiom G Cushion when the assessment calls for both.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area once the shell is built. We bring it in, check the hardware against the chair canes, and show you the cover before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see an Axiom back first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased backs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
If the back is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Ki Mobility Axiom warranty
The Axiom Back owner's manual prints 24 months on the shell and foam and 6 months on removable covers for the original purchaser in North America. Punctures, tears, and burns sit outside that term. Expected frame life is five years. We handle the warranty claim with you on units we sold.
Frequently asked questions
How Do I Choose A Wheelchair Back?
The Axiom PB back is chosen after a seating assessment. A therapist measures torso height and trunk width and decides whether a 2.25 inch contour with a lumbar pad is enough. Do not pick a shell from a photo alone.
Does The Axiom PB Come In A Tall Height?
The Axiom PB back is sold in Low (8 to 12 inches) and Mid (14 to 18 inches) only. Ki does not list a Tall Posterior Back on the current card. Taller needs usually move to the PL, LB, or DL.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Back Supports?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the person. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
What Is The Weight Limit For The Axiom PB Back?
The Axiom PB back is rated at 300 lbs (136 kg) with DEX or FXT hardware and 400 lbs (181 kg) with BTX hardware in Ki's current brochure and owner manual.
Will An Axiom Back Fit My Wheelchair Canes?
DEX and FXT hardware in Ki's technical manual use clamp fasteners for 3/4, 7/8, 1, and 1-1/8 inch back canes. BTX uses the 1 inch locking clamp. Westin checks the chair canes before the order is placed.
What Are DEX, BTX, And FXT?
DEX, BTX, and FXT are Ki's three Axiom back mounts, not separate products. DEX has auto-resetting levers. BTX is the heavier, one-handed mount rated at 400 lb. FXT is the lightest fixed mount with 5 degrees of built-in angle. A seating therapist names the mount.
How Long Is The Axiom Back Warranty?
The Axiom PB back carries 24 months on the shell and foam and 6 months on removable covers in the Axiom Back owner's manual, for the original purchaser.
Can I See An Axiom Back In Brampton?
Westin Healthcare can show an Axiom back in the Brampton and Toronto stores and deliver across the GTA. Call (905) 451-7743 to check what is on the floor and to book an assessment.
