Description
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX scooter is a 3-wheel full size mobility scooter for indoor rooms and paved outdoor paths in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Drive's Ventura owner's manual rates the 3-wheel at 400 lbs (181 kg), 6 mph (9.7 km/h), and an estimated 22 miles (35 km), and it gives this version a 53 inch (135 cm) turning radius.
This is the indoor-friendly Ventura. Three wheels and that 53 inch turn are how Drive separates it from the 4-wheel Ventura. It is not a folding airline scooter and it is not a rough-terrain scooter. Speed and range change with rider weight, terrain, and battery charge, which is how Drive prints those two figures.
Who this scooter is for
This full size mobility scooter is for a person who wants a captain seat and a 400 lb rating, and who will spend a lot of time indoors, in hallways, or in shops where a tighter turn matters more than four-wheel stability. Families usually call us when a travel scooter feels small and a heavy duty outdoor scooter feels too wide.
If you want the same Ventura class with four-wheel stability, see the Drive Ventura 4 DLX 4-Wheel Scooter. If you need more clearance, pneumatic tyres, and a higher outdoor rating, step up to the Drive Panther Heavy Duty 4-Wheel Scooter. The Ventura 3 DLX is not the Cobra.
- Indoor rooms, shops, and paved paths more than rough ground
- A 400 lb (181 kg) rating and an 18 inch or 20 inch captain seat
- A 53 inch (135 cm) turning radius, narrower than the 4-wheel Ventura
Range, speed, and batteries
The Drive Ventura owner's manual prints an estimated 22 miles (35 km) and a top speed of 6 mph (9.7 km/h) for the Ventura 3 DLX, and it stars both numbers: they change with rider weight, terrain, battery charge, and condition. The same table lists a 12V x 33AH pair and a 4A offboard charger.
Drive asks you to fully charge the batteries after every trip. A new pair should sit on charge for 8 to 12 hours before first use. If you ride most days, put it on charge when you finish and leave it until the next day. If it sits, Drive says to charge 10 to 14 hours once a week. Only sealed lead acid AGM or gel-cell batteries belong in this scooter. Use Batteries if you want a larger Group 24 or Group 27 pair than the 33AH set Drive prints.
Portability and transport
The Ventura 3 DLX disassembles into five pieces without tools: the seat, the basket, the battery pack, the front section, and the rear section. Drive's manual lists the heaviest piece at 60 lbs (27 kg) on the 3-wheel and the base at 88 lbs (40 kg). That is a two-person car-trunk job for most households, not a one-hand fold.
Drive does not rate this as an airline travel scooter. The manual says sealed AGM or gel-cell batteries are FAA approved for transport and tells you to call the carrier before you fly. The assembled scooter is 48 inches long and 25 inches wide. It is not a seat in a motor vehicle. For a scheduled drop-off in Brampton or the GTA, call (905) 451-7743.

Colour, batteries, and seat
Use Colors to pick the red or blue interchangeable panels. Use Seat to choose the 18 inch standard, 18 inch captain, or 20 inch captain seat. Use Batteries if you want a Group 24 or Group 27 pair instead of the 33AH set Drive prints. Accessories and Cane/Crutch Holder add a flag, basket, belt, or holder when you need one.
Ventura, Panther, or Cobra: which Drive scooter fits
The Ventura 3 DLX is the indoor-turning scooter in this Drive ladder. The Ventura 4 DLX keeps the same 400 lb midsize class and swaps in four-wheel stability and a 54 inch turn. The Panther steps up to 425 lbs (193 kg), 8 mph (12.9 km/h), 25 miles (40 km), 4 inches of clearance, and 14 inch pneumatic tyres. The Cobra GT4 is the 450 lb (204 kg), 10 mph (16 km/h), 35 mile (56 km) outdoor scooter with 7 inches of clearance. Stay on the Ventura 3 if doorways and shops matter more than rough ground.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's current Ventura shop family is limited lifetime on the frame, 24 months on electronics, and 12 months on batteries, for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tyres and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX has an estimated range of 22 miles (35 km) in Drive's owner's manual. Drive stars that number: rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten it. Charge after every trip if you want the distance Drive printed.
3 wheel vs 4 wheel scooter?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX is the 3-wheel scooter, with a 53 inch (135 cm) turning radius for indoor rooms. The Drive Ventura 4 DLX is the 4-wheel sibling, with a 54 inch turn and a wider stance on uneven pavement. Pick three wheels for shops and hallways. Pick four wheels if outdoor stability matters more.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX is not a folding airline scooter. Drive's manual says sealed AGM or gel-cell batteries are FAA approved for transport and tells you to call the airline first. The assembled scooter is 48 inches long. Plan on checked mobility equipment rules, not a cabin fold.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a mobility scooter after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Eligibility depends on the person and the category. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy. We will point you to the right path for your case.
How long to charge a mobility scooter?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX uses a 4A offboard charger on a 33AH pair. Drive says to charge 8 to 12 hours on a new pair, then charge overnight after daily use, or 10 to 14 hours once a week if the scooter sits. Leave it on charge until the charger shows green.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX should stay out of rain, standing water, snow, ice, and salt when you can. Drive says if it gets wet, dry it and let it sit 8 to 12 hours, then check the throttle and brakes before you ride again.
Do mobility scooters work in winter?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX is rated to operate between 18 F and 122 F (-8 C to 50 C). Drive warns that batteries can freeze in extreme cold and that the scooter may run slower in extreme heat. Avoid ice and salt. This is a paved-path scooter, not a snow scooter.
What is the weight limit for a mobility scooter?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX is rated at 400 lbs (181 kg), rider plus accessories. Drive voids the warranty if you go over that number. If you need more than 400 lbs, look at the Panther (425 lb) or the Cobra GT4 (450 lb).
How wide is a mobility scooter?
The Drive Ventura 3 DLX is 25 inches (64 cm) wide and turns in 53 inches (135 cm). Measure doorways and elevator doors before you buy. The 4-wheel Ventura is the same 25 inch width with a 54 inch turn.
Can I rent a mobility scooter?
Westin Healthcare rents mobility scooters for short-term needs in the GTA. See the rentals hub and call (905) 451-7743 to check what is on the floor. A rental scooter may be a different model than the Ventura 3 DLX.
