Savaria prints the code in the ReadyWide brochure item table as "Underbed lighting - factory intalled", and the 2026 Savaria range keys it to the MC7WP Plus bed built on LINAK controls. This is the factory code. It goes on a new bed order and arrives already fitted and wired to the bed's control box, so the bed is delivered ready to use. Savaria does not publish a field install code for the LINAK Plus bed in the 2026 range, so if the Plus bed is already in a room, call (905) 451-7743 before you quote anything and we will confirm the current option with Savaria first.

Which beds this fits

Read this before you order. Savaria keys the ReadyWide range by control system, and the lighting codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6787, the LINAK Plus code.

The Standard ReadyWide builds (MC7W, MC7WM, MC7WL and MC7WML) run TiMOTION controls and take Q6749 or Q6748. The ReadyWide Plus (MC7WPML, 650 lb safe working load) runs LINAK controls and takes this code. The same keying repeats across the battery backup range, where Q6701 is the Standard code and Q6770 is the Plus code, so if you have ever had to sort those out, this is the same fork in the road.

The bed and control box labels identify the platform. If you cannot find them, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify it before anything is ordered. On our own shelf the related platforms are the Span Encore, the Span Advantage Q-Series and the Span Rexx.

What the lighting does

It puts a soft light under the bed frame, controlled from the bed rather than from the wall. Span wires it into the hand pendant: press the Under Bed Light button to turn it on, press again to adjust the brightness, press again to turn it off. Nobody has to reach for a lamp, and nobody has to turn on the ceiling light at three in the morning to check on a resident.

• A caregiver can see the floor around the bed before moving anything
• Brightness is adjustable at the pendant, so the same kit suits a light sleeper and a dark room
• The light travels with the bed instead of living in a wall outlet

On the ReadyWide platform the lights do a second job. Span's SmartStop low position auto pause runs the last stretch of travel, from 12-1/2 inches down to 7-7/8 inches, from the foot end controller only. As the bed lowers through that zone the SmartStop Low Height Zone Indicator illuminates and, if the lights are fitted, the underbed lights flash. That is a deliberate warning to check that the area under the bed is clear of feet, equipment and cords before the frame finishes travelling. The lights also flash to confirm a successful control box reset, which makes a service call slightly easier to read.

Span does not publish the number of LED strips, the light output, the colour temperature or the mounting position for any of the four under bed lighting codes, and we will not invent them. Span America manufacturer warranty

Span Medical Products Canada warrants beds and accessories against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use from the date of initial delivery. Batteries, hand pendants, foot end controllers and cables carry one year, bed accessories carry one year, and parts subject to wear carry one year. Electrical components, which Span defines as the control box and the actuators, carry five years. The frame and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not covered by the manufacturer warranty, and warranty claims run through a Span RMA number. We handle the claim with you.

Will this fit any ReadyWide?

No. This code is for the ReadyWide Plus, the MC7WP builds on LINAK controls. A Standard ReadyWide runs TiMOTION controls and takes Q6749 for factory install or Q6748 for field install. The table above lists all four under bed lighting codes in the range.

How do I know whether my bed is LINAK or TiMOTION?

The bed and control box labels identify it. Savaria keys the whole ReadyWide options list to the control system, so a Standard build takes the TiMOTION parts and a Plus takes the LINAK parts. Can I add this to a Plus bed that is already in a room?

Savaria does not publish a field install code for the LINAK Plus bed in the 2026 range. Call (905) 451-7743 with the bed model and serial number and we will ask Savaria what is currently offered rather than sending you a kit that was built for a different control system.

How bright is it, and what colour?

Span does not publish the light output, the colour temperature, the LED count or the mounting position for any of its under bed lighting codes, so we do not quote one. Brightness is adjustable at the pendant. If your specification needs a figure, ask us and we will get it from Savaria in writing before you order.

Why do the lights flash when the bed goes all the way down?

That is SmartStop doing its job. On the ReadyWide platform the last stretch of travel, from 12-1/2 inches down to 7-7/8 inches, runs from the foot end controller only. The SmartStop indicator illuminates and the underbed lights flash so the operator checks that the area under the bed is clear before the frame finishes lowering.

Does it affect the bed's safe working load?

Span states that the safe working load includes the weight of accessories, options and bedding, so every option you add uses part of that allowance. The published safe working load is 650 lb (295 kg) on the ReadyWide Plus and 500 lb (227 kg) on the Standard ReadyWide.

What is the warranty?

One year. Span puts bed accessories in its one year row rather than in the five year electrical components row, which covers the control box and the actuators. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty. Our own service and repairs department handles the claim with you.
