Description
The Span America Advantage Bed Side Roller Bumper Kit (manufacturer code Q6632) is Span's side roller bumper kit for the Advantage QD1000 bed. It is the part that takes the hit when a bed is rolled through a doorway or pushed back against a wall, so the wall, the door frame and the bed frame all survive the move. Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
The companion code for the head end of the same bed is Q6599, which Savaria's own Advantage sheet prints as "Head end roller bumpers". This side kit is not printed in that sheet: it comes from the 2026 Savaria range and from Span's own part description, so quote it with the code and the bed platform together and we will confirm it with Savaria before the order goes out.
Which beds this fits
Read this before you order. Savaria supplies roller bumpers by bed platform and by position on the bed, and the codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6632.
| Bed platform | Head end roller bumpers | Side roller bumper kit |
|---|---|---|
| Span Advantage QD1000 | Q6599 | Q6632 |
| Span Encore MC9, Advantage ReadyWide MC7 and Rexx | Q6531 | Not published in the 2026 range |
Span's other roller bumper code, Q6531, is described differently in three different Savaria-derived documents: the ReadyWide brochure calls it a honeycomb roller bumper kit, the 2026 range calls it head end roller bumpers for MC7 and MC9 series beds, and Span's own part description calls it a main frame roller bumper assembly for Encore and Rexx. We are not going to pick one of those for you. If your bed is an Encore, a ReadyWide or a Rexx, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number and we will confirm the right code with Savaria before anything is ordered.
The bed label identifies the platform. One quick tell in the room: the Advantage QD1000 has no SmartStop, and its sleep surface is a fixed 35 inches unless an expander kit is fitted. A bed that widens to 39 or 42 inches on its own is a ReadyWide, and a bed that pauses and warns on the last stretch of downward travel is a ReadyWide or an Encore. On our own shelf the platforms are the Span Advantage Q-Series, the Span Encore and the Span Rexx.
What roller bumpers are for
A long term care bed does not stay still. It gets pulled out for a transfer, rolled to another room, pushed back against a wall at the end of a shift, and steered through a doorway that was never designed for it. The Advantage is built for that: Span puts it on heavy duty 3 inch total locking swivel casters and lets it move at any height in its 7-7/8 inch to 30 inch range.
Everything the bed touches on those trips pays for it. Roller bumpers put a rolling contact point between the bed and the wall, so the bed rides along a surface instead of scuffing it, and the frame corner is not the thing absorbing the impact.
- Painted walls and vinyl wall protection last longer between repaints
- Door frames survive being clipped on the way through
- The bed's own frame and finish take less damage over a fifteen year frame life
- Staff can reposition the bed without treating every wall as an obstacle
Every Advantage already ships with a baseboard bumper, which the owner manual has you press over the wheel base at the head end with a rubber mallet during setup. That is a different part and it is not a substitute for a roller bumper kit. If you have been told the bed "already has bumpers", that is the one being described.
Span does not publish the piece count, the dimensions, the material, the colour or the weight of this kit, and we will not invent them. If your specification needs that detail, call (905) 451-7743 and we will get the current answer from Savaria in writing before the order goes out.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin Healthcare's own team delivers and sets up Span beds across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring the bed in, assemble it, and show you the hand pendant and the foot end controller before we leave. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page to book a date.
Hospital beds and bed hardware are oversized, so the Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply to them. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. If the order is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the bed or an accessory needs work, you call the shop that supplied it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department and our technicians come to the home or the workplace.
Span America manufacturer warranty
Span Medical Products Canada warrants beds and accessories against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use from the date of initial delivery. Batteries, hand pendants, foot end controllers and cables carry one year, bed accessories carry one year, and parts subject to wear carry one year. Electrical components, which Span defines as the control box and the actuators, carry five years. The frame and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not covered by the manufacturer warranty, and warranty claims run through a Span RMA number. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What is the manufacturer code?
Q6632. The 2026 Savaria range prints it as "Side roller bumper kit ADVANTAGE", and Span's own part description reads "A SIDE ROLLER BUMPER KIT". Quote the code and the bed platform together and the order desk cannot pick the wrong one.
Will this fit any Span bed?
No. This code is for the Advantage QD1000. Span's other roller bumper code, Q6531, is described against three different platforms in three different Savaria-derived documents, so if you have an Encore, a ReadyWide or a Rexx we will confirm the code with Savaria before ordering rather than guess.
Is this the same as the bumper my bed already has?
No. Every Advantage ships with a baseboard bumper that presses over the wheel base at the head end during setup, using a rubber mallet. The roller bumper kits are separate accessories, ordered by code.
What is in the kit, and what is it made of?
Span does not publish the piece count, the dimensions, the material, the colour or the weight of this kit, so we do not quote them. If your specification needs that detail, ask us and we will get it from Savaria in writing before you order.
Do I need both the head end and the side kit?
They cover different contact points, so it depends on the room. A bed that lives against a headwall and is pulled straight out for care mostly needs the head end kit; a bed that is turned and steered through doorways, or that sits beside a wall, is where the side kit earns its place. Tell us how the room is laid out and we will quote the combination that fits.
Does adding bumpers affect the bed's safe working load?
Span states that the Advantage safe working load of 500 lb (227 kg) includes the patient, the head and foot panels, the mattress, the side rails and accessories, so every option you add uses part of that allowance. Bumpers are light, but the rule is the rule and it is worth knowing when a bed is fully optioned.
Can they be fitted to a bed that is already in a room?
Span publishes no installation instruction for this code, and we will not promise a retrofit we cannot source. Call (905) 451-7743 with the bed model and serial number and our service department will confirm what is involved before you order.
What is the warranty?
One year. Span puts bed accessories in its one year row rather than in the five year electrical components row, which covers the control box and the actuators. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty. Our own service and repairs department handles the claim with you.
