Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The back folds. The legs come off. Drive prints armrests and a soap tray on the current one-pager.

Drive rates RTL12606 at 300 lb (136 kg). The seat sits 21.5 in by 13.125 in (54.6 cm by 33.3 cm). Assembly is tool-free. Drive prints a limited lifetime warranty on the current sheet.

Who this shower chair is for

This folding-back shower chair is for a person who stays at or under the 300 lb rating and who wants a back that folds for storage or a car trip. Families usually call us when they want a chair with a back and they do not want a transfer bench that bridges the tub wall.

If you want a folding Drive bench without a back, start with the Drive Folding Shower Chair 12486. If you want a fixed deluxe bench without a back, see the Drive Deluxe Aluminum Shower Bench.

  • A seated wash in a tub or a stall, with a folding back
  • Armrests and a soap tray on the Drive sheet
  • Tool-free setup and removable legs

Seat height and fit

Sit on the chair in the tub or the stall with your feet flat. Your hips and knees should sit at a comfortable bend. Drive prints height-adjustable legs on RTL12606. The current one-pager does not print a height range. Match the four legs to the same hole before you sit.

The seat is 21.5 in wide by 13.125 in deep (54.6 cm by 33.3 cm). Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want to sit on the chair before you order.

Folding back, legs, and assembly

Drive prints a folding back (Figure A) and removable legs so the chair stores and travels. Non-slip feet sit on the tub or the stall floor. Drive prints that the plastic parts use recycled materials. Retail packaged. We can put it together at delivery.

Drive Shower Chair with Folding Back specifications

These figures are for Drive RTL12606 as printed on the current one-pager. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 21.5 in by 13.125 in and 300 lb. Use Limited Lifetime.

Capacity 300 lb (136 kg). Seat 21.5 in by 13.125 in (54.6 cm by 33.3 cm). Unit weight 8 lb (3.6 kg). Carton 8.6 lb. Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows Drive's printed term: limited lifetime.

Stool, chair, bench, or bariatric

A shower stool is a small round seat with no back. A shower chair has a back, and some chairs add arms. A shower bench is a wider seat that still sits inside the tub or the stall. A bariatric chair uses a heavier rating and a braced frame. A transfer bench bridges the tub wall so the person sits outside and slides in.

RTL12606 is a shower chair with a folding back. It is not a stool, not a backless bench, and not a transfer bench. If the person needs 500 lb, use the Drive Deluxe Bariatric Shower Chair with Back. If they need to slide in from outside the tub, start with the Drive Transfer Tub Bench.

Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
