Description
Who is this patient lift rental for?
This rental is for a short-term home transfer plan that calls for a floor lift, including a hospital discharge, recovery period, palliative care at home or a trial before buying. It is a Hoyer-style floor lift, not a sit-to-stand device or an installed ceiling lift. The care team should confirm that a full sling transfer is the right method for the person.
How much does it cost to rent a Hoyer-style lift?
Westin Healthcare charges $90 for one week, $170 for two weeks, $250 for three weeks or $280 for four weeks. The minimum term is one week. Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, or the customer can collect in Brampton. HST is extra.
Vital Mobility publishes $289 a month and Medics Mobility publishes $220 a month for a lift. Those are competitor prices, which is why someone who needs a lift for one week should not have to pay for a full month.
Why does the sling matter as much as the lift?
A lift is only as safe as its sling. The sling must be sized to the person, suited to the transfer and compatible with the actual lift. A sling that merely appears to fit the attachment points is not enough. Westin Healthcare confirms the sling size and lift match on the call, along with whether the sling is supplied within the rental rate.
Before every transfer, inspect the sling and its label. Do not use a sling that is damaged, frayed, beyond its stated lifespan or missing readable identification. Do not substitute a sling from another source unless the lift manufacturer approves that pairing.
Can one caregiver use the lift alone?
Some transfers can be completed by one trained caregiver and some cannot. The answer depends on the manufacturer instructions for the actual lift, the person's current transfer plan, how much the person can assist and the space around the bed or chair. A second pair of hands is safer when the person cannot help, is unpredictable or the room is tight.
The caregiver should not use the lift until trained on the actual unit and sling. Ask what demonstration is included with the booking, and make sure the person who will operate the lift is present for it.
What does the room need before the lift arrives?
Measure the open gap under the bed frame, the narrowest doorway, the tightest turn and the approach to the wheelchair, commode or chair. Westin Healthcare has not published one clearance number because the rental fleet can vary. We confirm the available unit rather than guessing from a photograph.
Tell us whether the transfer path is hard flooring or carpet. A floor lift can roll easily when empty and become harder to move when loaded on carpet. A solid platform bed with no open gap can block the legs. A floor lift stays on one level and is not a stair climber.

How does the rental work?
Choose one, two, three or four weeks. The totals are $90, $170, $250 and $280. Rentals automatically extend unless you call to arrange the end of the rental, and weekly extensions are available after the first month. Call 905 451-7743 before the scheduled end date so we can confirm the next term and pickup plan.
Delivery, installation and pickup is $120, or collect from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton. HST is extra. If a deposit applies, Westin Healthcare confirms the amount and refund conditions before booking. Every unit is cleaned and safety checked between rentals. The brand and cosmetic condition may vary because the unit supplied matches the function booked rather than the photograph.
Should you rent or buy the lift?
A known one-week need costs $90 before delivery and HST, while four weeks costs $280. If the transfer need is likely to continue beyond four weeks, request a purchase quote for a floor lift and compatible sling before extending. There is no honest universal break-even point without selecting the purchased lift and sling first.
Rental dollars can be applied to a new equivalent purchase within 30 days under Westin Healthcare's rental program, but not to sale items. Compare patient lifts to purchase and ask for the full equipment and sling quote.
What funding help is available in Ontario?
Patient lifts are not an ADP item. Private equipment rental is also outside the program. OHIP does not reimburse a private retail rental. If this is a hospital discharge, ask the social worker about Ontario Health atHome before renting privately, or call 310-2222 to request an assessment.
Ontario Health atHome may arrange equipment through its contracted suppliers for people who qualify. Westin Healthcare's rental is the private option when that route is unavailable, delayed or does not fit the transfer plan.
How does delivery and setup work in Brampton and the GTA?
Delivery, installation and pickup is $120. Westin Healthcare books a two to three hour delivery window, and someone must be present. Have the bed, destination chair, transfer path and sling information ready. Customer collection is available from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton.
Call 905 451-7743 before booking if the room has carpet, a platform bed, a tight chair approach, stairs or a building elevator reservation. We confirm the available unit and the room requirements without inventing a delivery time or hardware specification.
