Description
ProBasics Aluminum Crutches are Compass Health Brands underarm pairs in Child, Adult, and Tall. Compass prints a 350 lb rating, anodized aluminum with a reinforced one-piece centre tube, push-button height in 1 in steps, and extra thick underarm pads and grips. Westin Healthcare sells the pair and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a sized underarm pair, not Drive RTL10433 (the published universal knock-down pair) and not Drive 10400-8 (an 8-pair adult case). Compass lists youth, adult, and tall as three items. Westin's ERP holds those three sizes on this one card.
Who these crutches are for
These pairs are for a person who wants aluminum underarm crutches, stays at or under Compass's 350 lb rating, and fits one of Compass's three height windows. Families here usually call when they want a sized pair rather than a universal knock-down.
Compass does not tell a reader to pick underarm over a forearm cuff. Westin does not give medical advice. If the person wants a forearm cuff, see the published forearm crutches already on the site.
- Underarm pair, 350 lb, anodized aluminum
- Child, Adult, and Tall height windows
- Push-button height, wing-nut hand grip
Fit and height
Compass prints three patient-height windows on the current aluminum crutch brochure:
- Junior (Westin Child): 4 ft 6 in to 5 ft 2 in, arm pad to floor 37 to 46 in
- Adult: 5 ft 2 in to 5 ft 10 in, arm pad to floor 45 to 53 in
- Tall: 5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 6 in, arm pad to floor 53 to 61.5 in
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store with everyday shoes and we will set both sticks inside Compass's printed window. Stay at or under 350 lb. Compass does not print a gap-under-the-arm number on this sheet.
Frame, pads, and tips
The frame is lightweight anodized aluminum. Compass prints a reinforced one-piece centre tube for the weight-bearing area. Height is push-button in 1 in steps. The hand grip position adjusts with wing nuts. Underarm pads and grips are extra thick. Tips are non-skid rubber.
Compass packs each size 8/cs on the sell sheet. Westin sells the pair, not the eight-pair carton.
Underarm or forearm crutches
These are underarm (axillary) pairs with a top pad and a hand grip. Forearm crutches use a cuff around the forearm. Compass does not tell a reader which class to pick. A clinician decides. Westin does not give medical advice.
A universal knock-down underarm pair is the Drive Universal Aluminum Crutches. A sized Hugo pair is the Hugo Comfort Max Tall Adult Aluminum Crutches. A Medline adult pair is the Medline Basic Adult Aluminum Crutches.

Funding help for a cane or crutches in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund standard canes or crutches, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
