Description
The DermaFloat LAL is Joerns' low-air-loss mattress replacement with a pulsation mode. Westin Healthcare sells the complete system (mattress plus control unit) and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is not the DermaFloat APL, which is alternating pressure at 350 lb.
Joerns' product page and 2015 manual rate it at 500 lb (227 kg). Mattress sizes are 36 x 80 x 10 in and 42 x 80 x 10 in. Twenty 8 in therapy cells sit over a 2 in safety cell that stays inflated up to 12 hours without power. True low air loss is greater than 100 L/min. Three modes: Autofirm, Therapy, and Pulsate (every 30 seconds). Eight comfort settings.
Who this system is for
This system is for a person at or under 500 lb who needs powered low air loss and moisture control on a 36 or 42 in deck. Families usually call us when a wound-care plan names low air loss rather than a non-powered hybrid. Joerns does not recommend it for unstable spinal fractures.

Size and fit
36 x 80 x 10 in sits on a standard 36 in homecare or Joerns deck. 42 x 80 x 10 in sits on a 42 in frame. Height is 10 in, taller than the 7 in P.R.O. Matt Plus, so we check siderail coverage at delivery. CairRails are 2 in side air bolsters with a lower ingress/egress area. Joerns says they remind the person they are near the edge. They are not bed rails.
Control unit
The system control unit is 7.5 in W x 12.25 in H x 5.5 in D and 10 lb. Joerns hangs it on the footboard. Electrical is 120 V AC, 60 Hz, 5.1 A. Closed-loop pressure sensing and panel lockout are on the unit. CPR is a hose disconnect at the control unit. Replacement pumps are sold as DFLAL-CU.

Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund mattresses or support surfaces. ADP funds, on purchase only, 75% of the approved price of manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating, and wheeled walkers for adults. OHIP does not reimburse this purchase. Ontario Health atHome (310-2222) and March of Dimes Canada can help some low-income applicants. Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), WSIB, ODSP discretionary benefits, and private insurance are the other common routes. Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, connect a control unit when the order includes one, and check the fit before we leave.
You are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom at Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive if you would rather see a surface first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service. Purchased mattresses are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order. HST is extra.

Joerns manufacturer warranty
Joerns covers the original purchaser for 2 years on the DermaFloat LAL mattress and 1 year on the cover and electromechanical components (compressors, valves, boards, hoses, couplers). Burns, chemicals, punctures, and use outside the manual sit outside that term.

No. Ontario ADP does not fund mattresses or support surfaces. OHIP does not reimburse this purchase.
