Description
The Deluxe 500 is Joerns Healthcare's Canadian foam hospital mattress, the non-gel member of the Elite-G and Deluxe line. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is not the US PrevaMatt series, and it is not the Elite-G 500 gel topper.
Joerns' Canadian foam page rates the family at 500 lb and lists lengths of 76, 80, and 84 in and widths of 35, 36, 39, and 42 in. Mattress weight averages 23 lb depending on configuration. Joerns recommends the line for prevention and treatment of up to Stage 2 pressure injuries. Fire lines on that page are TB 117-2013, TB 129, 16 CFR 1633, and BFD IX-11.
Who this mattress is for
This mattress is for a person at or under 500 lb who needs a quiet foam surface on a Joerns or 36 in Drive hospital bed, and does not need a gel topper or a powered air system. Families usually call us when a therapist has asked for a Joerns foam replacement with a stretch zipper cover.
If the care plan names a gel-infused visco topper, start with the Joerns Elite-G 500. If the deck is a 36 in Drive homecare bed and 400 lb is enough, see the Drive Gravity 8. If the person needs a self-adjusting air-and-foam surface, see the Joerns P.R.O. Matt Plus.
- Home care on a 35, 36, 39, or 42 in sleep deck
- A 500 lb Joerns rating on every Deluxe 500 SKU in this list
- A foam surface with no pump and no motor
Size, width, and raised perimeter
Match the mattress to the sleep deck, not to the room. A 35 in Deluxe 500 sits on a standard Joerns EasyCare, UltraCare XT, or WeCare deck. A 36 in SKU sits on a 36 in Drive homecare deck. 39 in is the Joerns Twin XL / CareWide width. 42 in is the Joerns UltraWide width. 80 in is the usual length. 76 in and 84 in are the short and extended decks. We check the fit at delivery.
Flat SKUs (PDF) are the even-top mattress. Raised-perimeter SKUs (PDS) add Joerns' optional taller foam edge. That edge is not a metal bed rail. Canadian dealer SKU labels print flat at 6 in high and raised perimeter at 8 in high. Joerns.com does not print those heights, so treat them as dealer labels until Joerns confirms.
This list has no raised-perimeter SKU in 35 x 76, 39 x 80, or 42 x 84. Ask us if you need a taller edge on those decks.
How the mattress is built
Joerns prints open-cell memory foam for airflow, a firm perimeter for sitting and transfers, and optional raised perimeter for fall and entrapment help. Joerns says the surface meets the Hospital Bed System Dimensional and Assessment Guidance to Reduce Entrapment when it is used with a Joerns bed frame.
Canadian Joerns dealer sheets add a multi-ply core, a sloped heel, articulation cuts in the base so the foam bends with the deck, and a 2-way stretch zipper cover that they call low shear, fluid proof, stain resistant, antibacterial, and antifungal. Those dealer lines are consistent across more than one Canadian Joerns catalogue. They are not on the Joerns.com Canadian page.
Deluxe 500 specifications
These figures are from the Joerns Canadian Foam (Elite-G and Deluxe) product page, opened 2026-08-19, plus the SKU map on Canadian dealer sheets. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 500 lb, not a leftover 300 lb Basic line. Use Deluxe, not PrevaMatt.

Deluxe 500 or Elite-G 500
Deluxe 500 is the channeled foam core. Elite-G 500 adds a gel-infused visco topper on Canadian dealer sheets. Both share the Joerns 500 lb family rating, the same widths and lengths, and the optional raised perimeter. Pick Deluxe when the therapist asked for Joerns foam. Pick Elite-G when they asked for the gel topper.
Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund mattresses or support surfaces. ADP funds, on purchase only, 75% of the approved price of manual and power wheelchairs, approved scooters, seating, and wheeled walkers for adults. OHIP does not reimburse this purchase. Ontario Health atHome (310-2222) and March of Dimes Canada can help some low-income applicants. Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), WSIB, ODSP discretionary benefits, and private insurance are the other common routes. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Which beds this mattress fits
35 x 80 is the usual match for a Joerns EasyCare, UltraCare XT, or WeCare deck. 36 x 80 is the usual match for a Drive 36 in homecare deck. 39 and 42 in need the matching Joerns width kit. An 84 in mattress needs a length-extended deck, or the foam length bolster on an 80 in mattress when Joerns allows that pair.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Deluxe 500 a PrevaMatt?

Deluxe 500 or Elite-G 500?
Pick Deluxe 500 for the channeled foam core. Pick Elite-G 500 when the therapist asked for the gel-infused topper.
