Description
The JAY Lite cushion is Sunrise Medical's historic lightweight foam wheelchair cushion for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The owner's manual rates it at 250 lbs (113 kg). Sunrise Medical's current US and Canada cards both print that this product is no longer available to order.
If you already use a Lite, we can still talk through covers, leftover stock, and a current path. The current lightweight JAY is the JAY LitePro Cushion (2 lbs / 0.9 kg and 2 inches / 51 mm on the live card). The foam steps we still sell include the JAY GO and the JAY Ion.
Who this cushion is for
The JAY Lite cushion was written for a person who wanted a light foam cushion with airflow in the cover. The owner's manual sets a 250 lb maximum. A seating therapist should confirm any leftover Lite against current Ion, GO, or LitePro before you replace it.
- Lightweight foam base with an OptiWell / PLA insert
- Microclimatic outer cover
- 250 lb (113 kg) rating in the owner's manual
Foam well and cover
The JAY Lite cushion used a contoured foam base and a pelvic-loading-area foam insert. Sunrise printed a microclimatic cover with spacer fabric for airflow. Monthly wipe-down of the foam and a machine-washable cover were the care line. Do not soak the foam.
JAY Lite Cushion specifications
These figures are from the JAY Lite owner's manual. The retired live cards no longer print a spec table. The specification tab holds the stored values.
User weight capacity 250 lbs (113 kg). Width and depth on our size choices run 14 to 20 inches (36 to 51 cm). Base: contoured foam with a PLA / OptiWell insert. Outer cover: microclimatic.
Warranty in the Lite owner's manual is 24 months on the cushion and 6 months on the outer cover, for the original purchaser.
Width and depth
Use Choose Width and Choose Depth for 14 to 20 inches if leftover stock remains. Confirm availability before you plan on this model. A seating therapist measures hip width in sitting.
Which JAY wheelchair cushion fits
The JAY Lite cushion is the retired lightweight foam JAY. Do not treat it as a current Sunrise order. The current lightweight JAY is the JAY LitePro Cushion. The JAY GO Cushion is current dual-layer foam. The JAY Ion Cushion is current foam skin protection and positioning. The JAY Zip Cushion is the current kids foam JAY.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the cushion needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise Medical JAY warranty
The JAY Lite owner's manual prints 24 months on the cushion and 6 months on the outer cover, for the original purchaser. Punctures, tears, and burns sit outside that term. Sunrise notes that Canadian terms can follow provincial funding rules. We handle the warranty claim with you on units we sold.
