Description
The Pride Jazzy Elite ES Portable is Pride Mobility's portable Group 2 power wheelchair. Westin Healthcare sells remaining units and delivers them for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is a front-wheel-drive chair that takes apart for a car. It is not a carbon fibre folder, and it is not the full-size Jazzy Elite ES.
Pride lists the Elite ES Portable as discontinued and no longer accepts new factory orders. It is not on Pride Canada's current Jazzy index. Call (905) 451-7743 about remaining stock. Current Pride alternatives are the Pride Go Chair and the Pride Jazzy Carbon 27.
Pride's spec table lists a 300 lb rating, speeds up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h), a 24.75 inch turning radius, and up to 11 miles (17.7 km) per charge on two 12-volt U-1 batteries. The heaviest piece of the base is 48 lbs. The comfort high-back seat is 50.2 lbs. Each battery is 25 lbs.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who wants a high-back, depth-adjustable seat on a front-wheel-drive base that comes apart, and who stays at or under Pride's 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when a folding carbon chair's 17 or 18 inch mesh seat is not enough support, or when they want in-line front wheels for indoor turns and small thresholds.
If you want a lighter take-apart chair, start with the Pride Go Chair. If you want a one-piece carbon fold, see the Pride Jazzy Carbon 27 or the Pride Jazzy Ultra Light.
- In-line front-wheel drive and a 24.75 inch turn
- A high-back seat Pride lists in 16, 18, and 20 inch widths
- A base that takes apart, heaviest piece 48 lbs
Design and build
Pride builds an in-line, two-motor, front-wheel-drive base with limited suspension. Drive wheels are 9 inch solid. Rear casters are 6 inch solid. Front anti-tips are 3 inch solid. Ground clearance is 1.5 inches at the motors. Overall width is 22.75 inches. Length is 34.75 inches, or 42 inches with the footplate down. The foot platform flips up. Tires are black, flat-free, and non-marking.
The standard seat is a depth-adjustable, limited-recline comfort high-back with a 60 inch lap belt. Pride lists 16 by 16-18 inch, 18 by 18-20 inch, and 20 by 18-20 inch, with high-back options up to 20 by 20 inch. Seat-to-floor range is 21.5 to 23.5 inches. The standard joystick is a universal fixed in-line mount. A 40-amp PG GC3 controller runs the chair. Free-wheel levers sit where you can reach them for a push.
Pride's Jazzy Series owner manual shows the Elite ES Portable power base separating into front and rear sections after the seat and batteries come off. That is a take-apart sequence, not a one-piece fold.
Pride Jazzy Elite ES Portable specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU ELITE-ES, Pride Jazzy Elite ES Portable, as printed on Pride's US spec table and the 0003776 brochure. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Pride lists a 300 lb capacity, up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h), a 24.75 inch turning radius, and up to 11 miles (17.7 km) per charge. Batteries are two 12-volt U-1 units, 25 lbs each. The charger is a 3.5-amp off-board unit. Heaviest base piece is 48 lbs (Pride's note: that figure does not include the seat or the batteries). The comfort high-back seat is 50.2 lbs.
Do not mix these numbers with the full-size Jazzy Elite ES. That chair is a different product. Some leftover pages still print a 15 mile figure and a 1.85 inch motor clearance on the non-portable Elite ES. This portable model is 11 miles and 1.5 inches at the motors.
Warranty for the original purchaser is Pride's 5-year limited term on the main frame, 2 years on electronics in Canada (13 months in the US insert), 13 months on the drivetrain, and 13 months on batteries.
Colour, seat, and accessory options
Use Choose Color to pick blue or red. Pride names those Viper Blue and Candy Apple Red.
Use Choose Seat Size for the 16 by 16-18 inch or 18 by 18-20 inch comfort high-back, or for a high-back solid seat pan in 16, 18, or 20 inch. Use Choose Legrest if you want to keep the standard centre-mount foot platform or move to swing-away or elevating leg rests. Use Joystick Mounting Brackets for in-line left or right, or for a swing-away mount.
Use Accessories, Back-Mounted Accessories, and Additional Lap Belts for Pride parts such as a cup holder, saddle bag, cell phone holder, weather cover, XLR USB charger, rear basket, cane holder, oxygen holder, walker holder, or a longer lap belt. Ask us which parts you need before you tick every line.
Jazzy Elite ES Portable or Jazzy Carbon 27
The Elite ES Portable is Pride's discontinued front-wheel-drive take-apart chair with a high-back seat and two U-1 batteries. The Carbon 27 is Pride's current 27.8 lb carbon fibre folder with a 12 Ah lithium pack. The Go Chair is Pride's lighter five-piece take-apart chair. They are separate models. Do not treat the Elite ES Portable as a renamed Carbon or Go Chair.
Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this power wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble the base, fit the seat, and show you the joystick, the free-wheel levers, and the charger before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
This power wheelchair takes apart for a car. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Pride manufacturer warranty
Pride's Elite ES Portable spec table, brochure, and warranty page print a 5-year limited term on the frame and 13-month limited terms on electronics, drive motors, and batteries for the original purchaser. Pride's July 2024 standard power insert lengthens the electronics term to 2 years in Canada. The insert does not cover shrouds, motor brushes, upholstery, brake pads, tires, tubes, or fuses, and it does not cover labour unless Pride authorizes it in advance. Gradual battery wear from storage, cold, or heavy use is outside the battery term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Is The Elite ES Portable Still Available?
Pride lists the Jazzy Elite ES Portable as discontinued and no longer accepts new factory orders. It is not on Pride Canada's current Jazzy index. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will tell you whether a remaining unit is on the floor, or walk you to the Go Chair or the Carbon 27.
How Far Will The Elite ES Portable Go On One Charge?
Pride prints up to 11 miles (17.7 km) per charge on two U-1 batteries. Pride's footnotes say range changes with user weight, terrain, battery type, battery condition, and tire pressure. Plan a shorter day than 18 km if the person is near 300 lbs or the route is not flat.
What Battery And Charger Does It Use?
Pride specifies two 12-volt U-1 batteries, 25 lbs each, and a 3.5-amp off-board charger. These are sealed lead-acid batteries, not the lithium boxes on the Carbon 27 or Ultra Light. Charge them with the charger Pride supplies.
Does It Fold, Or Does It Come Apart?
It comes apart. Pride's owner manual shows the portable base separating after the seat and batteries come off. The heaviest base piece is 48 lbs. The high-back seat is 50.2 lbs. It is not a one-piece carbon fold.
What Is The Indoor Turning Radius?
Pride lists 24.75 inches. Overall width is 22.75 inches. In-line front-wheel drive is how Pride describes the indoor turn and the way the 9 inch front wheels meet small obstacles.
Who Drives The Elite ES Portable?
The person in the seat, using the in-line joystick on the left or right. A swing-away mount is an option. A helper can push in free-wheel after the motors are disengaged.
What Is The Weight Capacity?
Pride lists 300 lbs (136 kg). Stay at or under that rating.
Will It Fit In A Car?
Pride designed the portable base to come apart for transport. The heaviest base piece is 48 lbs, plus a 50.2 lb seat and two 25 lb batteries. That is more lifting than a Jazzy Carbon 27 fold. We can walk through the split at delivery.
Can It Go On A Plane?
Pride does not print an airline-compliant claim for this chair. The batteries are U-1 sealed lead-acid, not a lithium travel box. If you need a Pride chair Pride describes as airline-compliant, look at the Jazzy Carbon 27 or the Ultra Light 10Ah pack, and still ask the airline before you fly.
What Is The Warranty?
Pride prints 5 years on the frame and 13 months on drivetrain, electronics, and batteries. In Canada the standard insert makes electronics 2 years. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
Can Funding Help With This Chair In Ontario?
Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. A discontinued model may not stay on a funding list. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Can I Rent A Power Wheelchair Before I Buy?
Westin Healthcare rents some power wheelchairs. The live rental page is a different chair. Ask us whether an Elite ES Portable can go out as a rental for your dates. Purchased chairs are delivered on a scheduled date.
