Description
The ProBasics Small Base Quad Cane is Compass Health Brands item CNQSB: a black four-point cane with a small base, an offset vinyl handle that rotates for left or right hand use, and a 300 lb rating. Compass prints a 29 to 38 in height band in 1 in push-button steps, a 2.3 lb cane, and 3/4 in non-skid tips. Westin Healthcare sells the single cane and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Compass sells CNQSB and CNQLB as two articles. This card is the small base. The large base is a different SKU.
Who this cane is for
CNQSB is for a person who wants a four-point small base, stays at or under Compass's 300 lb rating, and fits the 29 to 38 in handle height. Families here usually call when a single-tip cane feels light and a large quad plate feels bulky in a doorway or on a step.
Compass writes that the small base allows easier maneuverability and the large base provides more stability. That is Compass's sentence. Westin does not give medical advice.
- Small four-point base, black, offset vinyl handle
- 29 to 38 in, 2.3 lb, 300 lb rating
- Handle rotates for left or right hand use
Fit and height
Compass prints handle height 29 to 38 in in 1 in push-button steps, with a locking anti-rattle ring. That band is the same as CNQLB. The difference is the base, not the height.
Stand upright in the shoes you will walk in, with your arms relaxed. Set the handle at your wrist crease so your elbow stays slightly bent when you hold on. Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want that height checked on the floor.
Handle, base, and tips
The handle is offset, contoured vinyl with a sculpted grip. Compass prints that it rotates for left or right hand use and that the change is tool-free. The upper shaft is aluminum. The base is welded steel.
The base is a small four-point plate with non-skid 3/4 in rubber tips. Compass prints that the cane stands up on its own when not in use. This is not a claw tip. The Hugo Ergonomic Derby Handle Cane with Claw Tip is a single shaft with a three-point claw, a different article.

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund standard canes or crutches, so plan around other routes. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation.
