Description

The Quickie Q50 R Carbon is QUICKIE's lightest carbon folding power wheelchair. Westin Healthcare sells it quote-only and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Sunrise Canada's page rates the carbon frame from 32 lbs without batteries, a 300 lb user rating, a 31.5 inch turning radius, and 6 kph (3.7 mph). One 10Ah lithium-ion battery is listed at up to 12 km (7.5 miles). A second battery doubles that to up to 24 km (about 15 miles on the brochure). This is a folding travel base, not a mid-wheel rehab chair like the Q700 M or Q500 M. An assessment still comes first if you are asking ADP to help. Not every power wheelchair qualifies.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who fits Sunrise's 17 by 16.5 inch seat, stays at or under 300 lbs, and wants a carbon folder one person can lift. Families usually call us when a full Q-series mid-wheel will not go in the car, and when airline or train travel is part of the week.

If you need SEDEO seating and indoor mid-wheel turning, start with the Quickie Q300 M Mini. If you need a hybrid outdoor base, see the Quickie Q500 H. The Q50 R Carbon is not a 4x4 and it is not a standing chair.

  • Carbon fibre frame from 32 lbs without batteries
  • Folds to 14.5 by 22.5 by 30 inches without removing the battery
  • 10Ah lithium-ion pack, IATA UN3171 language, airline still to confirm

Range, speed, and batteries

The Quickie Q50 R Carbon travels up to 12 km (7.5 miles) on the standard 10Ah lithium-ion battery. The extra battery slot is a manufacturer option. Two batteries are listed at up to 24 km (14.9 miles; the brochure rounds that to 15 miles). Speed is 6 kph (3.7 mph). The 250W brushless motors are rated to climb obstacles up to 1.5 inches.

Charge on the chair through the nVR2 controller socket, or lift the pack and use the side charging port. A second charger is a manufacturer option if you order two packs. Range shortens with weight, hills, cold, and a tired pack. Plan a shorter day than the brochure number.

Portability and transport

Sunrise folds the Q50 R Carbon by flipping the rear clip, folding the footplate, and pushing the backrest down. The battery stays on. A transport strap is standard. Folded size on the Canada page is 14.5 inches long, 22.5 inches wide, and 30 inches high. Rear anti-tips let the folded chair stand upright.

Sunrise prints the lithium-ion pack as approved by IATA for aircraft under UN3171 and still says you must confirm with the airline before you fly. Individual airlines have different lithium rules. For a cruise or a bus, ask the carrier what they allow on board.

Quickie Q50 R Carbon specifications

These figures are for the current Q50 R Carbon as printed on Sunrise Medical Canada. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Width 22 inches. Length 36 inches. Seat 17 by 16.5 inches. Back 18 inches. Turning radius 31.5 inches. Rear-wheel drive. Casters 6.5 inches. Drive wheels 8 inches. User weight 300 lbs. Chair from 32 lbs without batteries. Battery 3 lbs. Speed 6 kph (3.7 mph). Range 12 km one battery, 24 km with the optional second battery.

The Canada spec widget does not print a year-split warranty. The page footer says coverage may vary by province and funding. Ask us which term ships with your chair.

How this chair is configured

The Q50 R Carbon is a folding travel chair with a fixed 17 by 16.5 inch seat, not a SEDEO rehab frame. Colour, a second battery, attendant-control hardware, and bags are written on the Sunrise order form. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will start that form with you. If you are asking ADP to help, the therapist assessment still comes first.

Q50 R Carbon or a full Q-series mid-wheel

The Q50 R Carbon is the 32 lb carbon folder with a 31.5 inch turn. The Q300 M Mini is the 20.5 inch rehab mid-wheel. The Q500 M and Q700 M are full mid-wheel bases that do not fold. Choose the folder for cars and flights. Choose the Mini or Q500 M when seating and indoor turning are the prescription.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this power wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the joystick, the fold, and the charger before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a folding chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This power wheelchair folds for a car trunk. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Sunrise manufacturer warranty

The Canada Q50 R Carbon spec widget does not print a year split. The page footer says coverage may vary by province and funding. Wear items and gradual battery wear sit outside a typical power-chair term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us which insert ships with your chair.
