Description
The Prism Multi Backrest is a Future Mobility tension wheelchair back with cane-mount laterals and a padded, breathable cover. Westin Healthcare fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
Two fixed straps and two removable Velcro straps set the sling. Laterals ship in small, medium, or large. Future Mobility also prints six adjustable straps on the Multi brochure. This is a strap back with add-on laterals, not a rigid aluminum shell.
Who this back support is for
This wheelchair back support is for a person at or under 250 lb (113 kg) who wants tension plus some side support, without moving to a rigid Ultra or Air shell. Families usually call us when the person folds the chair often and the therapist still wants laterals on the canes.
If you only need straps, use the Prism Adjustable Tension Backrest. If you need a rigid 6 in shell, use the Prism Ultra Back.
- Tension straps plus cane laterals
- Laterals in 4x6, 5x9, or 6x10 in
- Low 13 in or High 16 in height
Straps, laterals, and fit
Laterals are cane-mount: small 4 in W x 6 in H (CML4), medium 5x9 (CML5), large 6x10 (CML6). They can be omitted. Widths are 14, 16, 18, and 20 in. Heights are 13 in Low or 16 in High. Custom widths are a separate order. A seating therapist should pick the lateral size and the first strap set. We do not give clinical positioning advice. Ask the seating therapist.
Prism Multi Backrest specifications
These figures are Future Mobility's Multi brochure and August 2024 Canada order form. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the brochure when they fight.
Capacity 250 lb (113 kg). Product weight 1.8 lb (0.8 kg). Warranty for the original purchaser: 2 years limited.
Sizes and options
Use Choose Cushion Size for 14, 16, 18, or 20 in wide by 13 in or 16 in high. Tell us small, medium, or large laterals, or ask us to omit them. If you need a custom width, we order it as a custom Multi.
Tension, Multi, or a rigid Prism
The Prism Adjustable Tension Backrest is straps only. The Prism Multi Backrest adds laterals. The Prism Basic Back and Prism Ultra Back are the rigid foam steps on the same maker's ladder.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, fit the straps and laterals, and show you the tension set before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a back support first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date.
This back support is smaller than a hospital bed. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us about parcel or freight shipping. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Future Mobility manufacturer warranty
Future Mobility Healthcare warrants the Prism Multi Backrest to the original purchaser for 2 years limited, under normal use. Wear, misuse, and unauthorised changes sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
