Description

The Pride PX4 scooter is a 4-wheel mobility scooter with Pride's wireless NFC key fob, built for longer outdoor pavement rides in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Pride's spec sheet rates the PX4 (SC134) at 500 lbs (227 kg), up to 9.2 mph (14.8 km/h), and up to 23.4 miles (37.7 km) at 220 lbs on a 75 Ah lead-acid pair.

This is Pride's first scooter with a tap-to-start key fob. Full suspension, 13 in pneumatic tires, and an 82.28 in (209 cm) turning radius are how it leaves the Maxima. It is not a folding travel scooter and it does not come apart for a car trunk. Range and speed change with rider weight, terrain, and battery charge.

Who this scooter is for

This 4-wheel mobility scooter is for a person who needs a 500 lb rating, wants more speed than the Maxima, and likes a key fob instead of a barrel key. Families usually call us when a Pursuit-class outdoor scooter is the right size but they want 500 lbs and NFC start.

If 500 lbs and a 53 in turn are enough at 5.8 mph, start with the Pride Maxima 4-Wheel Heavy Duty Scooter. If 400 lbs and lithium are enough, see the Pride Pursuit 2. The PX4 is not a trail Baja and it is not an indoor 3-wheel.

  • 500 lb (227 kg) rating and a memory-foam high-back seat
  • NFC key fob start, unique to each unit
  • 9.2 mph (14.8 km/h) and 13 in pneumatic tires

Range, speed, and batteries

Pride's SC134 spec sheet lists a top speed of 9.2 mph (14.8 km/h) at 500 lbs. Pride Canada prints the same 14.8 km/h. Range is up to 23.4 miles (37.7 km) at 220 lbs, up to 16.3 miles (26.3 km) at 350 lbs, and up to 14 miles (22.5 km) at 500 lbs, on a 75 Ah pair and an 8 amp off-board charger. Rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten those figures.

Charge after every trip. Pride tells PX4 riders to leave the charger on for 8 to 14 hours after a day of use, and to unplug it if the charger light has not shown a full charge by 24 hours. Only the sealed lead-acid pair Pride specifies belongs in this scooter.

Portability and transport

The Pride PX4 does not fold. Pride prints 201.2 lbs (91 kg) without seat or batteries, 253.8 lbs (115 kg) with the seat, 298.8 lbs (136 kg) with the 75 Ah pair, and 351.4 lbs (159 kg) with seat and batteries. The 201.2 lb chassis is the heaviest piece if the seat and batteries are off. This is a delivered scooter, not a car-trunk scooter.

Pride does not rate the PX4 as an airline travel scooter. A 75 Ah lead-acid pair and a 55.9 in (142 cm) length will not go as cabin luggage. Ask the airline before you book if you must travel with it. The scooter is not a seat in a motor vehicle. For a scheduled drop-off in Brampton or the GTA, call (905) 451-7743.

Pride PX4 specifications

These figures are from Pride spec sheet INFINFB4423 for SC134 and Pride Canada's PX4 card. They are not CX3 or CX4 numbers. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Weight capacity 500 lbs (227 kg). Top speed up to 9.2 mph (14.8 km/h) at 500 lbs. Range up to 23.4 miles (37.7 km) at 220 lbs, 16.3 miles (26.3 km) at 350 lbs, and 14 miles (22.5 km) at 500 lbs. Turning radius 82.28 in (209 cm). Ground clearance 3.5 in (8.9 cm) at the motor, 4.4 in (11.2 cm) at mid-deck. Overall length 55.9 in (142 cm), width 27.83 in (71 cm). Seat-to-ground 24.2 to 25.6 in. Standard seat 19.2 in wide by 21.25 in deep, high-back memory foam with a 6 in slider. Tires 13 in pneumatic front and rear. Full suspension. Batteries (2) 12V 75 Ah, 48.8 lbs (22.1 kg) each. Charger 8 amp off-board. Incline 6 degrees (10.5 percent). Total weight with seat and batteries 351.4 lbs (159 kg).

Warranty on Pride Canada's PX4 card is lifetime limited on the frame, 2 years on the drivetrain, 2 years on electronics, and 6 months on batteries, for the original purchaser.

Key fob, colours, and seating

Tap or place the NFC key fob near the receiver on the side of the tiller to start the Pride PX4. Each fob is unique to that scooter. The tiller is a delta wheel with an LCD console and a water-resistant interface. A supplemental hand brake sits with the regenerative and electromechanical brakes.

Pride Canada finishes the PX4 in White Camo, Black Camo, Desert Camo, Jungle Camo, Satin Aluminum, Dark Violet, Red, Peacock Blue, and Sunflower. Seat options Pride prints are 18x18-20, 20x18-20, and 22x20-22, plus an optional 32x18-20 high-back. The front basket and dual rearview mirrors are standard. A hard-top canopy is optional.

PX4, Maxima, or Pursuit 2

The Pride PX4 is the 500 lb, 9.2 mph, NFC 4-wheel. It needs room for an 82.28 in (209 cm) turn. The Pride Maxima 4-Wheel Heavy Duty Scooter is the 500 lb, 5.8 mph captain-seat scooter with a 53 in turn and solid tires. The Pride Pursuit 2 is the 400 lb lithium outdoor 4-wheel with a 69.3 in turn. Stay on the PX4 if you want 500 lbs, pneumatic tires, and the key fob, and you have room to turn.

The Pride Baja Wrangler 2 is the dual-motor trail Baja when you need 8.25 in of clearance, not a pavement PX4. The Pride Pursuit ES is the 350 lb Canada outdoor 4-wheel when 500 lbs is more than you need.

Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this scooter across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the tiller, key fob, and charger before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a 4-wheel mobility scooter first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our mobility scooter rental service; purchased scooters are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This scooter is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the scooter is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Pride manufacturer warranty

Pride Canada's PX4 card prints a lifetime limited frame term, 2 years on the drivetrain, 2 years on electronics, and 6 months on batteries, for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. Batteries wear with charge cycles. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

How Far Can A Mobility Scooter Go?

The Pride PX4 travels up to 23.4 miles (37.7 km) at 220 lbs, up to 16.3 miles (26.3 km) at 350 lbs, and up to 14 miles (22.5 km) at 500 lbs on Pride's SC134 spec sheet. Rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten those numbers. Charge after every trip if you want the distance Pride printed.

How Long Does It Take To Charge A Mobility Scooter?

The Pride PX4 uses an 8 amp off-board charger on a 75 Ah pair. Pride tells PX4 riders to charge 8 to 14 hours after a day of use, and to unplug the charger if it has not shown a full charge by 24 hours.

Can I Take A Mobility Scooter On A Plane?

The Pride PX4 is not an airline travel scooter. It is 55.9 in (142 cm) long, 351.4 lbs (159 kg) with seat and batteries, and it uses a 75 Ah lead-acid pair. Ask the airline before you book. This is a delivered outdoor scooter, not a cabin fold.

Can I Use A Mobility Scooter In The Rain?

The Pride PX4 owner's manual prints an IPX4 splash classification and a water-resistant tiller interface. Pride does not print a rain-riding rating. Keep the scooter and charger out of standing water, snow, and salt, and bring it in when the weather turns.

Does ADP Cover Scooters?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a mobility scooter after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Eligibility depends on the person and the category. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy. We will point you to the right path for your case.

Does The Pride PX4 Have A Key Fob?

The Pride PX4 starts with an NFC key fob. Tap or place the fob near the receiver on the side of the tiller. Pride prints that each fob is unique to that scooter.

What Is The Weight Limit For A Mobility Scooter?

The Pride PX4 is rated at 500 lbs (227 kg) on Pride's SC134 sheet, rider plus accessories. If 500 lbs is enough at 5.8 mph and a 53 in turn, look at the Maxima 4-Wheel. If 400 lbs is enough, look at the Pursuit 2.

How Wide Is A Mobility Scooter?

The Pride PX4 is 27.83 in (71 cm) wide and turns in 82.28 in (209 cm). Measure driveways, ramps, and elevator doors before you buy. It is the widest-turning scooter in this Pride heavy set.

Do Mobility Scooters Work In Winter?

The Pride PX4 is an outdoor pavement scooter with 3.5 in of clearance and pneumatic tires, not a snow scooter. Keep it off ice and salt. Cold weather shortens battery range. Ask us about storage if the scooter will sit through a Brampton winter.

Can I Rent A Mobility Scooter?

Westin Healthcare rents mobility scooters for short-term needs in the GTA. See the mobility scooter rental page and call (905) 451-7743 to check what is on the floor. A rental scooter may be a different model than the PX4.
