If you want foam under the cells but not a foam edge, start with the Med Aire Assure 14530 (350 lbs). If you want cell-on-cell air and no foam edge, use the Med Aire Plus 14029. If the person needs turning, that is the PreserveTech LS9500, not this Edge.

Construction and how it works
This is a mattress replacement. Twenty 5-inch cells sit on a 3-inch foam base. An 8-inch firm foam perimeter runs the edge for ingress, egress, transfers, and outage protection. Alternating pressure moves the load. Low air loss vents a little air for microclimate. Head-end cells stay more static (pillow feature).
The PreserveTech cover is a removable, machine-washable, 4-way stretch quilt. It is fluid-resistant, low-shear, and vapour-permeable. Drive treats the cover with an antimicrobial to protect the fabric, not the person. Cells disconnect for service. A CPR valve dumps the air. Tubing uses EZ Lock / Quick Release.
Analog (14360-B, the default on this listing) is a 10-minute cycle plus static, with a comfort dial by weight, at 30 to 60 mmHg. Digital (14360-P, the DIGITAL CONTROLLER choice) adds cycle times of 10, 15, 20, and 25 minutes, Auto-Firm, Seat Inflate, lock-out, and three diagnostic alarms, at 20 to 55 mmHg. Do not expect digital features on the analog kit.

What is the difference between analog and digital on this listing?
Analog (14360-B) is a 10-minute cycle, static mode, and a weight dial. Digital (14360-P) adds 10/15/20/25 minute cycles, Auto-Firm, Seat Inflate, lock-out, and three diagnostic alarms. Both pumps are 8 LPM and 45 dB. The mattress is the same.
How is the Edge different from the Med Aire Assure?
Both are hybrids with 5-inch air over 3-inch foam. The Edge adds an 8-inch firm foam perimeter, a 450 lb rating, a PreserveTech cover, a printed 45 dB figure, and an 18-month warranty. The Assure is 350 lbs and 1 year, with no foam edge.
How do I clean the cover?
Drive lists the PreserveTech cover as removable and machine washable. It is fluid-resistant and vapour-permeable. Use the disinfectants named in the user manual. The antimicrobial treatment protects the cover, not the person. Do not immerse the control unit.
What is the weight rating?
Drive lists 450 lbs. Near that limit, ask us about a Med Aire Plus bariatric width instead of stretching this 36-inch Edge.
What size bed does it fit?
36 inches by 80 inches by 8 inches. It is not a bariatric width.
How loud is the pump?
Drive prints 45 dB on the Edge sheet. That is the only Med Aire family SKU in this batch with an official decibel number.
What happens if the power goes out?
The 3-inch foam base and the 8-inch foam perimeter stay under and around the person. The air cells go soft. That is foam hold-up, not Med Aire Plus cell-on-cell air hold-up.
What is the warranty?
18 months on the control unit and mattress for the original purchaser, analog or digital. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
