The MK 8GU1 is a 12 volt Group U1 gel battery. MK's gel specification sheet lists 31.6 amp-hours at the 20 hour rate, a size of 7.71 by 5.18 by 7.22 inches, and a weight of about 23.5 lb. It is the small U1 case, not a Group 24. Westin Healthcare delivers it across Brampton and the GTA.

Description

What is the MK 8GU1?

It is MK Battery's sealed gel battery in the U1 case. Gel electrolyte is held so the case is classed non-spillable when it is used as MK intends. The sheet lists 12 volts, 31.6 amp-hours at the 20 hour rate, and 26.8 amp-hours at the 5 hour rate. The alternate model name on that sheet is MU-1 SLD G.

Will it fit your scooter?

Only if the chair or scooter was built for a Group U1 battery. A Group 24 is much larger and is a different part. Measure the tray before you order. Length 7.71 inches, width 5.18 inches, height 7.22 inches including the terminals. Weight is about 23.5 lb. If your tray is stamped for a Group 24, look at the MK 8A24 or the Interstate DCM0075 instead.

Charging

Gel batteries need a gel charge profile. An AGM or a wet-cell charger can overcharge a gel and shorten its life. Use the charger the chair maker specifies for gel. This listing is the battery only. MK's current download link for the full gel sheet did not return a file on this date, so this page does not attach a PDF. The numbers above are the ones printed on MK's gel specification table for model 8GU1.

Is this a Group 24?

No. It is a Group U1. Group 24 batteries are larger and are listed separately.
