Description

What is the Matrx MX2?

It is Invacare's carbon fibre back for someone who wants a light shell with some flex. The manual lists a 3 inch (76 mm) contour depth and a user weight of 250 lb (113 kg). Heights in the range are 6, 9, 12, and 16 inches. Widths run from 14 to 18 inches. This unit is the 16 inch height and the 18 inch width. The stock code is SE0001463.

What about the mounting hardware?

Invacare sells a fixed carbon mount and a quick-release mount. An Invacare Australia sheet says the hardware does not come as standard and has to be selected. This stock record does not name a mount. Call Westin before you count on a fixed plate or a quick release being in the box. Depth and angle adjustment depend on which mount is used, so those ranges are in the attached manual rather than promised here.

Cover and pad

The brochure describes a breathable spacer cover. Backs 9 inches and taller include leatherette side panels. A removable lumbar pad is included with the back. A privacy flap is optional and is not part of this description.

Fit

The back has to match the chair's canes and the person's trunk. The manual warns against using it on tubes outside the stated diameter. Read that section before it goes on a chair. A therapist should confirm the size. Other backs are on the backrests page and the foam backrests page. The MX2 shell itself is carbon, with a foam pad under the cover.
