Description
The Span+Aids Heel Manager is a 29 inch in-bed elevator that holds both calves so both heels sit free of the mattress. Span America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes it and delivers it for homes and care sites in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This page is the Heel Manager only. It is one dual-calf elevator, not a single-foot boot. Span builds it with a segmented Geo-Matt layer, Ring-of-Air channels, and a UHP 500 foam layer, then covers it with a wipe-clean fluid-proof fabric. If the care plan names a Cradle Boot or a Foot Drop Stop, ask us for the Span+Aids extremities family. If it names a head pillow or a body wedge, ask us for the head and body family. If it names a surgical foam, ask us for that family.
Who this elevator is for
This elevator is for a person who spends time in bed and needs both heels off the mattress, and whose weight is inside Span's 300 lb rating. Span writes the gentle slope to help circulation for people with diabetes, neuropathy, or peripheral vascular disease.
Families and clinicians usually call us when the care plan asks for a Heel Manager, or for a device that fully offloads both heels while the calves carry the weight of the legs. If the team has also asked for a Span sleep surface, we already stock PressureGuard Custom Care and Span-Care mattresses and will quote those separately.
- Homes and care sites that need both heels off the mattress on one device
- People inside 300 lb who can use a 29 in dual-calf elevator
- Rooms that already have a hospital bed or a Span long-term care bed
Construction and how it works
The Heel Manager is non-powered. You place it on the mattress under both calves. The heels hang free of the bed. Span writes that this is how the device offloads the bony heel and spreads the weight of each leg along the calf.
The top is a segmented Geo-Matt layer with Ring-of-Air channels that move heat and moisture away from the skin. Under that sits a high-resiliency UHP 500 foam layer. Span writes that this foam has a 55% higher Support Factor than typical medical-grade foams, and that the dual layer lets the calves immerse without bottoming out. Span also writes a 30% larger surface so both limbs sit on the elevator without pinning the person in place.
Shear Transfer Zones sit in the top cover to offset the small shifts that happen when someone moves on the bed. The cover is wipe-clean, fluid-proof, and antimicrobial, with a seamless top, a waterfall zipper, and a non-slip bottom. All components are latex-free.
Span+Aids Heel Manager specifications
These figures are for Heel Manager codes 44900-1 and 44900 on this page. They are not Cradle Boot figures and not Foot Drop Stop figures. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Span prints the Heel Manager at 29 inches so both calves sit on one device. Weight capacity is 300 lb. The elevator is non-powered. Span lists a 1 year warranty. The foam and cover pass Cal TB 117 as a fire-retardant build.
Sizes and manufacturer codes
Span lists one Heel Manager size. The two codes are pack quantity. Use Choose Pack. The default on this page is the single unit (44900-1).
| Manufacturer code | What ships | Span print | Weight capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 44900-1 | Heel Manager, 1 unit | 29 in | 300 lb |
| 44900 | Heel Manager, 4 units | 29 in | 300 lb |
Pick 44900-1 for one home. Pick 44900 when a care site wants a case of four. The elevator in each pack is the same 29 in Heel Manager. Ask us if you are unsure which pack to start with.
Delivery in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team can deliver this elevator across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a bed setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Heel Manager first. For a scheduled drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a bed or a lift. If it travels with a hospital bed, the bed is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
How the Heel Manager sits on the bed
Span publishes the Heel Manager as an in-bed elevator. Place it under both calves so both heels sit free of the mattress. Span does not name a bed brand or a mattress model as a required pair. Tell us the mattress width if you want us to confirm how the 29 in device sits on your bed.
Stay inside 300 lb. Span writes that a Foot Drop Stop or a Cradle Boot may be used with the Heel Manager when the care plan needs the foot held in position. Those articles are quoted separately.
If the room also needs a Span bed, see the Span America Advantage or the Span America Encore. We already stock PressureGuard Custom Care and Span-Care mattresses and will quote those when the sleep surface is part of the plan. Browse hospital beds and medical mattresses when the elevator is only part of the room.
Service and warranty
When something on the elevator needs work, you call the shop that sold it. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
Span America manufacturer warranty
Span lists a 1 year warranty on the Heel Manager. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Heel Manager?
It is Span America's Span+Aids in-bed elevator for both calves. Both heels sit free of the mattress. Span builds it with a Geo-Matt layer, Ring-of-Air channels, and UHP 500 foam under a wipe-clean cover.
Is this a heel boot?
No. The Heel Manager is one dual-calf elevator that sits on the mattress. A Cradle Boot is a different Span+Aids article that holds one foot. If the plan named a boot, ask us for that family.
How is this different from a Cradle Boot or Foot Drop Stop?
The Heel Manager offloads both heels on one 29 in device. A Cradle Boot or Foot Drop Stop holds one foot and can be used with the Heel Manager when the plan names foot drop. They do not share part numbers.
How is this different from Span+Aids head, body, or surgical positioners?
Those families are head pillows, trunk wedges, and operating-room foams. This page sells only the Heel Manager, codes 44900-1 and 44900. Ask us for the other family if that is the article on the care plan.
What sizes and codes can I quote?
Span lists one size at 29 in. The two codes are pack quantity: 44900-1 is one unit, 44900 is a case of four. The default on this page is 44900-1.
What is the weight rating?
Span lists 300 lb. Tell us the person's weight when you order.
How do I place it on the bed?
Set the elevator on the mattress under both calves so the heels hang free of the bed. Span writes that the calves should carry the weight of the legs. The non-slip bottom helps it stay put.
Does it hold the foot for foot drop?
Span writes that a support product must hold the foot when foot drop is a concern, and names the Foot Drop Stop and Cradle Boot for that job. Those can be quoted with the Heel Manager.
How do I clean the cover?
Span specifies a wipe-clean, fluid-proof antimicrobial cover with a seamless top and a waterfall zipper. Wipe it with the disinfectant your clinician allows.
What is the warranty?
Span lists a 1 year warranty on the Heel Manager. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work on our service and repairs page.
What is included?
You get the Span+Aids Heel Manager in the pack you pick, with the cover on it. The bed, the mattress, the Cradle Boot, and the Foot Drop Stop are sold separately.
Which bed does it fit?
Span does not name a bed brand. The Heel Manager is an in-bed elevator printed at 29 in. We already sell the Span America Advantage and Encore. Tell us your mattress width and we will confirm how it sits.
