Description
The Handicare SlingBarWrap for MiniLift is Handicare's SystemRoMedic soft protection for the bar of a MiniLift sit-to-stand lift, manufacturer code 70200012. It wraps the mid-section of the bar, closes with Velcro, and comes off in seconds for cleaning. Westin Healthcare stocks it in Brampton and ships it across the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a small part that solves a specific problem. On a MiniLift the user rises towards the bar rather than away from it, and their head and upper chest finish the transfer close to it. For most users that is fine. For a user with uncontrolled movements, or a user who tends to tilt forward as they stand, contact with the bar is a real risk and a caregiver notices it on the first transfer.
What it does
Handicare's instructions for use put the purpose in one sentence: the SlingBarWrap is placed around the sling bar and protects the user's head in the event of impact with the mid-section of the bar. Handicare names two groups it suits: users whose sling holds them in an upright seated posture, and users who have a tendency to tilt forward.
The SystemRoMedic catalogue says the same thing from the caregiver's side: the bar of the MiniLift can be given a soft protection, which is sometimes needed for users with uncontrolled movements, and it is fastened with Velcro so it can easily be removed for cleaning.
Fitting and removing it
Handicare prints two steps and nothing else, because there is nothing else to it:
- Place the SlingBarWrap around the mid-section of the bar. The open section lines up so the link from the lift arm still connects.
- Secure it by joining the Velcro strips.
That is the whole fitting procedure. No tools, no fasteners to lose, and nothing to unbolt when the wrap goes off for laundering. The open section matters: it is why the wrap can stay on through a normal transfer without interfering with the arm connection.
It is protection, not a sling
This is the one thing worth being blunt about on a page full of padded fabric. The SlingBarWrap carries no user load. It is a cover. It does not lift, it does not support, it is not rated for a safe working load, and it does not change the rating of the lift it is fitted to. The part that takes the user's weight on a MiniLift is the ThoraxSling vest, which is a separate product with its own sizes and its own rating.
Handicare's own rule for any lift assembly still applies: different products in the same lift system may have different allowable safe working loads, and the lowest one determines the safe working load of the whole assembly. A wrap adds nothing to that calculation and takes nothing away from it.

Which lift does it fit?
Read this before ordering. There are two SlingBarWraps in the SystemRoMedic range and they fit different bars.
| Lift | Manufacturer codes | Does 70200012 fit? |

The MiniLift builds we stock are the MiniLift160EM, the MiniLift160EE, their low-leg versions, and the MiniLift200. This wrap fits every one of them.
Cleaning and when to retire it
Handicare's care instruction is short. Read the product label. Do not use rinsing agent. To prolong the life of the product, avoid tumble-drying. No wash temperature is published for this code, so ask us rather than assume one.
The inspection rule is the one Handicare prints for every soft SystemRoMedic accessory, and it is the rule that decides when a wrap is finished:
- Check the condition and function regularly, and always inspect it after laundering.
- Check that seams and material are free from damage.
- Check that the fabric is not worn or faded.
- If there are signs of wear, the product must be discarded.
Faded fabric is on that list for a reason. On soft goods it is the visible sign that the material has been through enough wash cycles to have lost strength, and Handicare treats it as a discard trigger rather than a cosmetic note.
Related MiniLift parts and accessories
The parts a MiniLift owner asks for most often, in the order they usually ask:
- The ThoraxSling, the sit-to-stand vest the MiniLift actually lifts with. It comes with or without seat support, in polyester, wipeable or disposable material, and it is sized to the person.
- The CalfStrap (70200033), a padded strap that supports behind the calves and gives the user a stronger sense of security while they stand.
- The external Linak charger (70200029), which Handicare lists for all models and variants of MiniLift.
- Hand control HB33-6 (70200089), a 6-button control with service, battery status and overload indicators, listed by Handicare for the MiniLift160EE codes 60300012 and 60300013 only.
The rest of the lift parts we carry sit on the lift parts shelf, and the complete standing aids are on the sit-to-stand lifts hub and the patient lifts hub.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Small parts like this one ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather match the part to your lift in person.
Call (905) 451-7743 with the serial number off your MiniLift and we will confirm the fit before the order goes out. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare warranty on soft accessories
Handicare publishes no standalone warranty document for the SlingBarWrap. The instructions for use give one condition and it is the one that matters day to day: if there are signs of wear, the product must be discarded. Ask us for the current terms that ship with your order and we will handle a claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a SlingBarWrap?
A soft, wipeable cover that goes around the middle of the bar on a MiniLift sit-to-stand lift. Handicare's stated purpose is to protect the user's head in the event of impact with the mid-section of the bar. It closes with Velcro and comes off for cleaning.
Does it fit my MiniLift?
If your lift is a MiniLift160 or a MiniLift200, yes. Handicare does not list this code for the MiniLift125, so call us with your model before ordering for that one. It does not fit a passive floor lift, which uses a SlingBar spreader bar and a different wrap, code 70200009.
Is this a sling?
No. It carries no load at all. The part that lifts on a MiniLift is the ThoraxSling vest, and it is a separate product sized to the person. A wrap does not change the safe working load of your lift in either direction.
Who needs one?
Handicare names two groups: users with uncontrolled movements, and users who tend to tilt forward as they rise. If your caregiver has watched a transfer and thought "their head gets close to that bar", that is the answer.
How do I put it on?
Wrap it around the mid-section of the bar with the open section lined up so the lift arm link still connects, then join the Velcro strips. There are no tools and no fasteners.
Can I wash it?
Handicare's instruction is to read the product label, not to use rinsing agent, and to avoid tumble-drying so the product lasts longer. No wash temperature is published for this code. Always inspect it after laundering and discard it if the seams, the material or the colour show wear.
How long does one last?
Handicare gives no service interval for soft accessories. It gives a condition instead: inspect regularly, inspect after every wash, and discard at the first sign of wear. In practice that means a wrap on a lift in daily use is a consumable, and it is worth keeping a spare rather than running one past its condition.
Does it come with the lift?
No. Handicare lists it as an accessory to the MiniLift, quoted separately, so it can be added when the user actually needs it. If you are ordering a MiniLift at the same time, mention it and we will put both on one order.
I have a floor lift, not a MiniLift. What do I need?
The equivalent for a SlingBar spreader bar is code 70200009, a different part. Call (905) 451-7743 with your lift model and we will get you the right one rather than the one with the similar name.
