Handicare BackSupport for QuickMove

(0 review)

The Handicare BackSupport for QuickMove is Handicare's SystemRoMedic torso and lateral support, manufacturer code 70200037. It sits behind the user's back, fastens to the QuickMove, and its length is adjusted to the height of the user. Handicare's stated purpose is extra stability and security during transfers. It fits the QuickMove transfer aid, code 400801334, and nothing else in the range. Westin Healthcare stocks it in Brampton and ships it across the GTA.

Do I need this or the SupportStraps? Handicare publishes two routes to torso support on a QuickMove. The BackSupport belongs to the machine: one part, fastened to the QuickMove, adjusted once to the user. The SupportStraps (6061) belong to the person, and work with an EasyBelt, FlexiBelt, ReadyBelt or FlexiMove. Choose the BackSupport when the QuickMove serves one user or a small group; choose the belt route when the same support has to travel with the person across different devices. This is a support, not a sling and not a restraint: the QuickMove user stands on the footplate under their own power.

Description

The Handicare BackSupport for QuickMove is Handicare's SystemRoMedic torso and lateral support, manufacturer code 70200037. Handicare describes it in one line and the line is exact: a back support that provides torso and lateral support for QuickMove, placed behind the user's back and then fastened to the QuickMove, with the length adjusted according to the height of the user. Westin Healthcare stocks it in Brampton and ships it across the Greater Toronto Area.

It fits one device: the Handicare QuickMove, manufacturer code 400801334. Three separate Handicare documents name that device and no other.

When a QuickMove transfer needs one

The QuickMove is an active transfer aid. The user puts their feet on the footplate, takes the handles, and stands under their own power while the caregiver steers. Handicare is specific about who that suits: the user must be able to support weight while standing, stand up and maintain balance with support, grasp the handles, and understand instructions.

Inside that group there is a range. A user at the confident end needs the machine and nothing else. A user at the other end can do all four of those things but sways, or lists to one side, or lets go of one handle to reach for something mid-transfer. That is the user the BackSupport is for. It closes the space behind them so the transfer is not relying entirely on their grip and their trunk control at the same moment.

Handicare's own words for the benefit are extra stability and security for users during transfers. It is worth being clear about what that does and does not mean: the BackSupport does not hold the user up, and it does not turn the QuickMove into a passive lift. If a person cannot take load through their legs, no accessory makes a QuickMove the right device for them.

BackSupport or SupportStraps

Handicare publishes two ways to give torso and side support on a QuickMove, and picking between them is the only real decision on this page.

RouteCodeWhere the support livesSuits

SupportStraps with a belt6061, with an EasyBelt, FlexiBelt, ReadyBelt or FlexiMoveOn the person. The belt is worn and the straps clip to it.A user whose support has to travel with them across different devices

Neither is better. The BackSupport is fewer parts and nothing to fit to the person each time, which is why it suits a home or a dedicated machine. The belt route is more parts and more setup, and it earns that back when the same person is transferred on more than one device in a day. If you are not sure, tell us how the machine is used and we will work through it with you.

Fitting it

Handicare's instruction is three short moves: the BackSupport is placed behind the user's back, fastened to the QuickMove, and its length is adjusted according to the height of the user. It stays on the machine between transfers.

Handicare does not publish a step-by-step illustration for this accessory, so the setup is worth doing once with someone who knows the machine. Our technicians fit it when we deliver a QuickMove, and if you already own one we can set it up on a service visit.

Two things are missing from that table on purpose. Handicare publishes no material composition for this code, and it publishes no safe working load for the accessory itself. The 170 kg (375 lb) row is the QuickMove's rating and is labelled that way, so nobody reads it as the strap's. If your file needs a fabric specification or a separate rating, call us and we will request them from Savaria rather than estimate.

The device this fits

The Handicare QuickMove, manufacturer code 400801334, is a non-powered transfer and standing aid. Handicare publishes it at a safe working load of 170 kg (375 lb), in powder-coated steel, weighing 35 kg (77 lb), with an expected lifetime of up to 10 years of normal use. Its seat pads swing away and flip up, its knee pad adjusts for depth and height, and a foot pedal opens and closes the leg spread so the base clears a wheelchair.

Full specifications, the user prerequisites and the rest of the range are on the QuickMove product page. If you are choosing between standing aids rather than accessorising one you own, start on the sit-to-stand lifts hub instead.

Cleaning and care

Handicare's published care instruction is for the QuickMove itself: the surface of the product can be cleaned with warm water or a soap solution, and if disinfection is needed, 70% ethanol, 45% isopropanol or similar should be used.

No separate care paragraph is published for the BackSupport, so read the label on the accessory before laundering it, and apply the inspection rule Handicare prints for every soft SystemRoMedic part: check the condition and function regularly, always inspect after laundering, check that seams and material are free from damage, check that the fabric is not worn or faded, and discard the product if there are signs of wear.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Accessories ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather see the part on a machine first.

Call (905) 451-7743 and we will confirm the fit against your QuickMove before the order goes out. If we are delivering a QuickMove at the same time, we fit the BackSupport and set it to the user before we leave. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the machine needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Handicare warranty and service

Handicare publishes no standalone warranty document for QuickMove accessories. The instructions for use state that maintenance and service of the device must be performed according to the manual at least once every 12 months, and that accessories must be properly fitted and tested in relation to the user's needs and functional ability. Handicare gives the QuickMove an expected lifetime of up to 10 years of normal use. Ask us for the current terms that ship with your order and we will handle a claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

What does the BackSupport do?

It gives torso and lateral support to a user being transferred on a QuickMove. It sits behind their back, fastens to the machine, and its length is set to the user's height. Handicare's stated benefit is extra stability and security during transfers.

Which devices does it fit?

The Handicare QuickMove, code 400801334. That is the only device named against 70200037 in any Handicare document, so do not order it for a MiniLift, a Nora, a Mover or a floor lift.

Is it a restraint?

No. It is support during an active transfer. The user stands on the footplate under their own power and holds the handles; the BackSupport closes the space behind them so a sway or a released hand does not become a problem. It does not hold anyone in place and it does not replace supervision.

Is it a sling?

No. It carries no lifting load. The QuickMove is not a hoist and has no sling: the user's own legs do the standing.

What is it rated to?

Handicare publishes no rating for the accessory itself. The device it fits, the QuickMove, is rated at 170 kg (375 lb). As with any assembly, the lowest rating among the device and its accessories governs the whole assembly.

Should I choose the BackSupport or the SupportStraps?

The BackSupport lives on the machine and suits a QuickMove used by one person or a small group. The SupportStraps live on the person, work with an EasyBelt, FlexiBelt, ReadyBelt or FlexiMove, and suit a user who is transferred on more than one device. Call (905) 451-7743 and describe how the machine is used, and we will point you at the right one.

Does it come with the QuickMove?

No. Handicare lists it as an accessory, quoted separately. If you are ordering a QuickMove at the same time, tell us and we will put both on one order and fit it before delivery.

What is it made of?

Handicare does not publish a composition for this code. We can request it from Savaria if you need it for an infection-control review or a tender, and we would rather do that than guess.

How do I clean it?

Read the label on the accessory. For the QuickMove itself Handicare specifies warm water or a soap solution, and 70% ethanol or 45% isopropanol where disinfection is needed. Inspect the accessory after every wash and retire it at the first sign of worn seams, damaged material or faded fabric.

Can you fit it for me?

Yes. We fit it when we deliver a QuickMove, and if you already own one our technicians can set it up on a service visit. Call (905) 451-7743.
