Description
The Span America Geo-Wave is a 68 inch specialty recliner cushion for geri-chairs and other institutional high-back chairs. Span America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes it and delivers it for homes and care sites in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This page is the Geo-Wave geri-chair cushion only. Span cuts a full-length foam pad with segmented fins and three zone orientations so the surface can follow the person as the chair reclines. The 18 inch and 22 inch widths are rated at 300 lb. The 28 inch width is rated at 500 lb. If a clinician has named a Geo-Matt wheelchair cushion, Gel-T, The Equalizer, or the 34 inch Short-Wave seat-and-back pad, ask us for that product. Those are separate Span articles.
Who this cushion is for
This cushion is for a person who sits in a geri-chair, a specialty recliner, or another institutional high-back chair, and whose weight is within Span's rating for the width you pick. Span writes it for seating where reclining creates shear along the back, seat, and legs.
Families and therapists usually call us when the person already uses a high-back care chair and the seating plan asks for a Geo-Wave, not a wheelchair seat pad and not a mattress. If the care team has asked for an in-bed Span surface, we already stock PressureGuard Custom Care and Span-Care mattresses and will quote those separately.
- Standard geri-chair and recliner seats 18 inches wide (WAVE-01)
- Wider institutional high-back chairs 22 inches wide (WAVE22-01)
- Extra-wide geri-chairs 28 inches wide, 500 lb rating (WAVE28-01)
Construction and how it works
The Geo-Wave is a non-powered foam cushion. Span orients the segmented fins in three zones so shear can be reduced in more than one direction as the chair moves from upright to reclined. The same surface also helps reduce pressure in both positions.
The pad is thicker in the lumbar area and under the thighs to help counter the tendency to slide down in the chair. A wipe-clean, non-skid cover is included. Three elastic hook-and-loop straps at the head, torso, and foot help hold the cushion on the chair.
Span America Geo-Wave specifications
These figures are for the Geo-Wave WAVE codes on this page. They are not Geo-Matt wheelchair sizes and not Short-Wave 34 inch sizes. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Span lists a 68 inch length on every width. Weight limits are 300 lb on the 18 inch and 22 inch cushions and 500 lb on the 28 inch cushion. The cushion is non-powered. Span lists an 18-month warranty.
Size options
Use Choose Cushion Size. Match the cushion width to the geri-chair or recliner seat width. The default on this page is 18 in W x 68 in L (WAVE-01).
- 18 in W x 68 in L (WAVE-01), 300 lb
- 22 in W x 68 in L (WAVE22-01), 300 lb
- 28 in W x 68 in L (WAVE28-01), 500 lb
Facility case packs of four are quoted with the room when a unit wants more than one chair dressed at once.
Delivery in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team can deliver this cushion across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a bed or lift setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a cushion first. For a scheduled drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a bed or a lift. If it travels with a hospital bed, the bed is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Which geri-chairs this cushion fits
Span publishes the Geo-Wave for geri-chairs, specialty recliners, and other common institutional high-back chairs. The three widths are 18, 22, and 28 inches. The length is 68 inches on every width, sized for a full-length geri-chair or specialty recliner. Choose the width that matches the chair seat. Span does not name a chair brand or model. Tell us the measured seat width and we will lock the matching code.
Three elastic hook-and-loop straps sit at the head, torso, and foot. Span writes that those straps help anchor the cushion to the chair. The 18 inch and 22 inch widths are rated at 300 lb. The 28 inch width is rated at 500 lb.
If the person also needs help standing from the chair, we already sell the Handicare ReTurn. If the room also needs a Span sleep surface, see the Span America Advantage and the Span America Encore, and ask us for the PressureGuard Custom Care or Span-Care mattress we already stock. Browse hospital beds and medical mattresses when the seating plan is only part of the room.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Geo-Wave geri-chair cushion?
It is Span America's 68 inch specialty recliner cushion for geri-chairs and other institutional high-back chairs. Segmented fins and three zone orientations address shear when the chair reclines. The 18 inch and 22 inch widths are rated at 300 lb. The 28 inch width is rated at 500 lb.
Is this a wheelchair cushion?
No. The Geo-Wave is a full-length pad for a geri-chair or specialty recliner. A Geo-Matt wheelchair cushion, Gel-T, or The Equalizer is a separate Span seat pad. Ask us for that product if the seating plan names it.
How is Geo-Wave different from Short-Wave?
Geo-Wave is 68 inches long and sized for geri-chairs and high-back recliners in 18, 22, and 28 inch widths. Short-Wave is the 34 inch wheelchair seat-and-back sibling in 16, 18, and 20 inch widths. They do not share part numbers.
Does this cushion need a pump?
No. The Geo-Wave is non-powered foam. There is no pump to plug in.
What is the weight rating?
Span lists 300 lb on the 18 inch and 22 inch cushions and 500 lb on the 28 inch cushion. Tell us the person's weight when you order.
What sizes can I get?
Three widths, all 68 inches long: 18 inches (WAVE-01), 22 inches (WAVE22-01), and 28 inches (WAVE28-01). The default on this page is 18 by 68 inches.
Which geri-chair does it fit?
Match the cushion width to the chair seat width. Span names geri-chairs, specialty recliners, and other institutional high-back chairs, and does not name a chair brand. Measure the seat and we will pick the code.
How does it stay on the chair?
Three elastic hook-and-loop straps at the head, torso, and foot help hold the cushion in place. The cover is wipe-clean and non-skid.
Why is it thicker at the lumbar and thighs?
Span makes those areas thicker to help counter the tendency for a seated person to slide down in a reclining chair.
What is the warranty?
Span lists an 18-month warranty on the Geo-Wave. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work.
What is included?
You get the Span America Geo-Wave in the width you pick, with the wipe-clean cover and the three attachment straps. The geri-chair, any armrest pads, and any bed or mattress are sold separately.
