Description
The Span America Geo-Mattress with Wings is the raised-perimeter foam hospital mattress in the Geo-Mattress line. Span America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes and care settings in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
The sides rise to 8 inches and the centre sits at 6 inches, so the person is prompted away from the edge while the sleeping surface stays a Geo-Matt segmented foam. This listing is the Wings model only. The dual-layer Plus, the single-layer Pro, the three-layer Max, the 350 prevention mattress, UltraMax, the HC homecare mattress, and the Atlas bariatric mattress are separate Span surfaces.
Who this mattress is for
This mattress is for a person on a 35 inch hospital-style or long-term care bed who needs a non-powered foam surface for prevention of skin breakdown, and whose care team also wants a raised perimeter. Span lists Wings for people at fall risk because of independent exits from bed, the general patient population, people at moderate to high risk for skin breakdown, people with decreased mobility, and people who still reposition often by themselves or with a caregiver.
Families and purchasing coordinators usually call us when a therapist has asked for Geo-Mattress with Wings, not a flat-edge Plus or Max, and the person is within the 400 lb rating. If the care team has asked for a flat-edge Plus, a single-layer Pro, a three-layer Max, a homecare HC, or a bariatric Atlas, ask us for that tier instead of stretching this one.
- 35 inch by 80 inch decks such as the Span America Advantage, using the 80 by 35 inch Wings (W8035-29)
- 35 inch decks in 75, 78, or 84 inch lengths when the sleep deck is that length
- Users within Span's 400 lb rating
Construction and how it works
Wings is a non-powered foam mattress. Span builds it as a dual-layer core with extra-firm, high-density angled side bolsters. Those bolsters rise to 8 inches and are topped with the same Geo-Matt segmented surface that covers the rest of the mattress, so the raised sides are not exposed hard foam. Lowered, padded openings along the long edges make transfers easier and give shearing protection at the opening.
The Geo-Matt topper is 2 inches deep, with more than 800 individually articulating cells from edge to edge, including the wings. That cut reduces shear on the tissues underneath and helps move heat and moisture away from the skin. Heel Slope tapers the foot end so load moves onto the lower legs. Span states heel pressures 27% lower than flat designs on this Wings build. Ring-of-Air is the air space around those cells that helps the foam follow the body. The cover is fluid-resistant and wipe-clean, with a bacteriostatic top, a tri-laminate bottom, a hidden zipper, and an ultra-low moisture vapour transmission rate. There is no pump and no air hose.

Size options
Use Choose Mattress Size. The default on this page is 80 x 35 in (W8035-29), the usual match for a 35 inch by 80 inch hospital deck.
- 80 x 35 in (W8035-29)
- 75 x 35 in (W7535-29)
- 78 x 35 in (W7835-29)
- 84 x 35 in (W8435-29)
Measure the sleep deck before you pick. Span publishes Wings in a 35 inch width and in 75, 78, 80, and 84 inch lengths. A 36 inch deck is not a printed Wings width. Call (905) 451-7743 if your frame is 36, 39, or 42 inches so we can confirm the closest size.
Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, and show you the raised sides, the transfer openings, and the heel slope before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased mattresses are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Which beds this mattress fits
Span sizes Geo-Mattress with Wings to a 35 inch width in the four lengths above. Span's fit rule is to match the mattress to the bed frame and keep gaps small. The raised sides fill the space between the bottom of the siderail and the mattress surface.
The 80 by 35 inch Wings (W8035-29) matches the 35 inch by 80 inch sleep deck on the Span America Advantage. A 75, 78, or 84 inch Wings matches a 35 inch deck of that length. The Span America Encore runs 36, 39, and 42 inches. Those widths are not printed Wings sizes. If the Encore or a ReadyWide frame is the bed, ask us to size the surface to the width you will actually run. See all hospital beds if you are still choosing a platform, and all medical mattresses if you need a different therapy class.
If the care team asked for a flat-edge Geo-Mattress instead of raised sides, see the Geo-Mattress Plus, Geo-Mattress Pro, or Geo-Mattress Max. The Geo-Mattress 350, UltraMax, HC, and Atlas are other Geo-Mattress tiers on their own pages. If a clinician has asked for a Span air or convertible surface instead of this foam, we already stock Span PressureGuard Custom Care (non-powered), Custom Care Convertible with low air loss, and Span-Care Convertible. Ask us to quote those from stock.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Geo-Mattress with Wings a powered mattress?
No. Wings is a non-powered foam surface. There is no pump and no hose. If the care team has asked for alternating pressure or low air loss, ask us about a Span PressureGuard surface instead.
How is Wings different from Geo-Mattress Plus and Geo-Mattress Max?
Wings is the raised-perimeter Geo-Mattress: 8 inch sides, a 6 inch centre, a 400 lb rating, and a 5-year core warranty. Plus is the dual-layer flat-edge mattress with a 6-year core. Max is the three-layer flat-edge mattress with a viscoelastic heel, same-height firm bolsters, and a 7-year core. This page sells Wings only.
How is Wings different from Geo-Mattress Pro with raised perimeter?
Pro with raised perimeter is a different Span article on the Pro page. It is a single-layer Pro core with raised sides and a 300 lb rating. Wings is a dual-layer Geo-Mattress with raised sides and a 400 lb rating. If the care team wrote Pro RP, ask us for that model.
How is Wings different from Geo-Mattress 350, HC, UltraMax, and Atlas?
Those are other Geo-Mattress tiers on their own pages. 350 is a prevention foam with a 350 lb rating. HC is a homecare foam without the Geo-Matt cut or Heel Slope. UltraMax is the ultra-high-performance foam. Atlas is the bariatric foam. Ask us if the care team named one of those instead of Wings.
Do the raised sides replace siderails?
No. Span designed the 8 inch sides to prompt the person away from the edge and to fill the space under a siderail. Whether rails stay on the bed is a clinical decision for that person. Span's Advantage owner manual still says to use a mattress that fits the frame and keep it centred.
How do I clean the cover?
Span specifies a fluid-resistant, wipe-clean, bacteriostatic top with a hidden zipper and a tri-laminate bottom. Wipe it with the disinfectant your clinician allows.
What is the weight rating?
Span rates Geo-Mattress with Wings at 400 lb. Tell us the person's weight and the deck width when you order.
What sizes can I get?
Official Wings sizes are 75, 78, 80, and 84 inches long on a 35 inch width, all 6 inches at the centre and 8 inches at the sides. The default is 80 by 35 inches (W8035-29).
Which bed does this mattress fit?
Match the Wings width and length to the sleep deck. A 35 by 80 inch Wings fits the Span America Advantage. The Span America Encore runs 36, 39, and 42 inches, which are not printed Wings widths. Measure a 36 inch deck with us before you pick.
What is the warranty?
Span publishes 5 years, non-prorated, on the Wings core and 2 years on the cover. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work on our service and repairs page.
Does ADP cover this mattress in Ontario?
No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover hospital beds or mattresses. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community programs may still help. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Can I try this mattress before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents standard full-electric hospital beds that include a therapeutic mattress. The Geo-Mattress with Wings itself is a purchase item. Ask us when you call if a short in-home look at a foam surface would help before you order Wings.
